I wanted to write a nice long entry about what's going on, but I spent the last two hours listening to a webradio program hosted by a friend (theme of the night: post-punk and new wave) and chatting with E. who's currently in China (it's almost dawn over there, she was awake because she wanted to listen to the same radio-program. We were both mentioned by our friend, haha.)

Anyway, my German course is going well, one of the teachers I have in the morning actually told me to move on to the next level, so I'll be in the C2 class tomorrow! I'm a bit nervous, I'm not completely sure I can do it. Plus, my two teachers are really nice and so are my classmates, I'm sorry I have to leave them (Not to mention I was developing a sorta but not quite tiny little crush on someone in my class.) ANYWAY. I can go back if I think the new level is too difficult, I guess I'll just give it a try.

Yesterday morning I went to a demonstration in front of the Italian embassy, but there weren't so many people, maybe a hundred or so. I also saw part of "Die Riesen kommen", first near Potsdamer Platz, then on Unter den Linden, but it was so full of people, it was insane. Then I met [livejournal.com profile] urania_chan and found out she lives just around the corner! As usual, I wasn't very talkative, but I spoke German all the time, I'm quite proud of myself. We also went to the MTV concert just behind the Brandenburger Tor (the same location where the giant marionettes met, you can imagine what a big, crowded mess that was), but we went away after an hour or so, it was just too crowded.

What else? My school takes part in this "Dominoaktion" for the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Wall, you can see what we did in my travelblog: http://ausberlin.wordpress.com/2009/10/04/1989-2009/ The entry is in Italian, but there are some pics of what we painted.

And of course on Friday I bought "Code B"! Unlike "Bingo", which I could really appreciate only after the concerts, I liked most of the songs on "Code B" at once.

I'm probably forgetting something, but I'm quite tired now, I'll just go to sleep. Goodnight!

Uhm...

Just read on Bela's Twitter:

Gesuch: Schwarzer Pudel für Fotoshooting im Raum Hamburg gesucht! Antwort bitte an: fanpost@bela-b.de.

Kitsch-O-Meter level: About to explode. XD

My first day at the language school was all right, I'm in a class with 9 other people in the morning: 2 from French-speaking Switzerland, 1 French, 3 Americans (the 2 guys from Oregon have such a strong accent, I can barely understand what they say), a guy from Spain, 1 from England and 1 from New Zeland; while in the afternoon it's just me, the guy from France and a guy from Japan - who also has such a thick accent.

Then I went to my friends to pick up my coat and combat boots and stayed for dinner: I ate Sauereier and survived. XD We also watched a part of "Zeitgeist" (you can find teh English version with Italian subtitles here: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=74FB6812A07FFF81&search_query=zeitgeist) and I'm definitely going to see the rest as soon as I have a bit of time. I am DISGUSTED with our society.

Talking about being disgusted with our society, Saturday I'm probably going to take part in a demonstration in front of the Italian embassy in Berlin to protest against Berlusconi's power over the Italian media and will try to take pictures.

And now... sleep.

What does he say around 02:30? He did a "Deutschland-Italien Lesereise"? I understood wrong, didn't I? DIDN'T I?! o__O

All right, now I'm off to the Turkish market along the Maybachufer. Bis später!

I created a Berlin blog here: http://ausberlin.wordpress.com

It's in Italian and mainly to let my friends know what's going on here, but if you can understand Italian you're welcome to read it as well. Or you can just look at the pictures. ;)

I'm in Berlin! :D I dragged my luggage up the stairs for 5 floors, but I survived. So, here I am, sitting on my sofa bed and wasting time online.

I met an old schoolmate who works for AirBerlin at the airport this morning and she said she's coming to Berlin on Saturday, we're probably gonna meet up, even if she's only staying one day.

What else? I'm tired, I woke up at 5 AM today. -__- I should tidy up a bit and try to sleep...

All right, now I'm starting to feel a bit nervous about the whole moving to Berlin deal... >_<

To those who are still waiting for answers for the meme I posted the other day: I'm sorry, it'll probably take a couple of days.
gothikmaus: (Default)
I haven't updated in ages, sorry about that. We had a double birthday + goodbye party on Wednesday, but not everyone could come because it was in the middle of the week, so I'm meeting up with the rest of my friends tomorrow. I should be all excited and bouncy at the thought of going to Berlin (OMG only 4 days left!), but I'm strangely calm.

Here have a meme.

Update!

Sep. 3rd, 2009 04:35 pm
gothikmaus: (Die beste Band der Welt)
I think it may be time for a proper update. First things first: I'm officially moving to Berlin on the 23rd of September! :D I booked my flight and enrolled for the Business German course, I'm going to start on the 28th. Sharing a flat with other students would've been more fun probably, but I'm not complaining: my room is luminous, quite big and only 5 minutes away from the U-Bahn station and the Volkspark Hesenheide, and the woman renting it is very nice (she even bought me an ice cream to "celebrate". :3) The only negative thing is that the flat is on the 5th floor. D: If I don't lose weight there, I never will!

I had a lot of fun while I was in Berlin WG-hunting last week: I watched "Maria, ihm schmeckt's nicht" (and was quite surprised to find out the cinema at Potsdamer Platz is actually cheaper than cinemas in Milan); I went to a couchsurfing barbecue with [livejournal.com profile] killer_ameise, where I was asked if I was given Gucci at birth, since I'm from Milan (WTF XD); I saw a beautiful rainbow; I visited my friends (and left a heavy coat and my combat boots at their place) and walked around till my feet were sore.

Tomorrow is going to be my last day at work. Ironically, the only thing I've been doing lately was translating technical stuff from English into German; I translated a whole SAP user manual! Hopefully I didn't make too many mistakes.

And tomorrow night there's another Deluded by Lesbians gig, we're organising a trip to see them, since it's in a city about an hour away from here. What will they do without their official photographer?! Mmh, I may try to organise a gig in Berlin for them... :P

I haven't updated in a while, I've been too busy WG-hunting lately. I'm leaving tomorrow and will be back Sunday night, I'll probably get online a couple of times to check for last-minute WG-replies, but other than that, I won't be around much.

See you next Monday! :)
gothikmaus: (Olsen - Yeah baby)
All right, I booked my flight: I'll be in Berlin from the 25th to the 30th of August. I'm going to see at least 4 WGs while I'm there, hopefully one of them will be the one where I'll be spending 4 months (or more) next autumn/winter. *fingers tightly crossed*

PS I have a, thankfully very mild, case of food poisoning and my belly and lower back are full of little red spots! D: I have no idea what may have caused it, the only possible "culprits" could be aubergines or tomatoes (man, I ate so many tomatoes yesterday, but they were so good!) The doctor said it's nothing serious, I feel well and the spots don't itch or anything, I only noticed looking at myself in the mirror, but he gave me some antihistaminics just in case.

I hope I'm not developing an allergy to tomatoes, because a life without tomatoes wouldn't be worth living. D:

PS 2: Why is my internet connection so slow today?!
gothikmaus: (Berlin)
Dear girls who put that announcement on wg-gesucht.de, why don't you reply to my message? You didn't even specify a phone number, so I can only hope you did get my email. If you don't reply within a couple of days I'll have to try with the next WG on my list, and that would be a pity because your room would be perfect, dammit! >_<

I'm getting more and more impatient, I just want everything to work out so I can get the hell away from here next month. My friends don't know anything about my plans yet, I'll only tell them when I have everything sorted out. I just want to tell everyone I'm going away, but I'll have to wait. ARGH.

Anyway, we're going to watch "The boat that rocked" tonight, I'm sure it'll be great.

*checks emails for the umpteenth time* Come onnn!!!

What?

Resignation letter is printed, I'm going to hand it in this evening, wish me good luck.

My friends found a small flat (an attic, actually) where I could stay that's 5 minutes away from where they live (Wilmersdorf), but the owner wants to know the exact dates of when I'm arriving and leaving within this week, because there are other people interested, but I don't know yet. I'm looking at wg-gesucht.de as well and found a few announcements for WGs close to the language school in Prenzlauer Berg.

And, if my muse doesn't go on strike, I may even finish that Richy/Igor fic I started last week. :)

PS I had a dream about Doctor Who last night. And there was some snogging involved. WTF? I've never watched a single episode of Doctor Who, I don't even know what the series is about! I only know that David Tennant's in it because I've seen it on my flist!

Not that I'm complaining, there are worse people to snog in dreamland... :P

In case anyone's interested (and happens to be in Berlin in July) Rod will do a DJ set at SO36 in Kreuzberg on the 24th. July program: http://www.so36.de/texte/SO36_Juli09.pdf

Ah, the memories, that's where I saw my first Ärzte concert.

And Bela will be at "Ein Hartz für Berlin" at the Zitadelle Spandau on the 19th.

Ah, the Zitadelle, the place where I first did kiwido juggling.

Why don't I live there?

With my luck, even if I got to move to Berlin, it will be next year, when DÄ will be on hiatus.
gothikmaus: (Grr)
Looking at pictures from last night on the DÄOF forum makes me so envious. ;__;

*sigh*

Today I sent a story to the Arthouse Tacheles in Berlin! They're organising an event with Italian artists and are looking for artists, musicians and writers. They're never gonna choose me, but I decided to give it a try anyway and sent a story I wrote a long time ago, but that was completely rewritten for the occasion. Keep your fingers crossed for me! >_<

And now: rant time! A few weeks ago I wrote about a super secret graphic commission I got. Well, since it's over I guess I can talk openly about it now. I'm collaborating with the Democratic Party for the local elections and they asked me to draw their logo. I accepted and asked them if they had already something in mind, like certain colours, certain symbols etc. They said I could do whatever I wanted. After a quick brainstorming with one of the guys who are in charge, we decided to do something using either white, green and red (the Italian flag colours and the colours of the national Democratic Party logo) or something with blue and green, our town's colours. I did a quick sketch when I got home that night. The next day, the guy calls me and says "Say, can you finish the logo tonight? We want to send it to the local newspaper." I panicked a little and told him I had only done a rough version of the white/green/red one, if he gave me more time I could do a few different versions so they could choose the one they liked best. He said not to worry and to just send him what I had. The next morning I get an email from another of the guys saying not to use white/green/red, but blue, green and orange instead. Orange? Whatever, that's your logo, not mine. I come up with a couple of versions at work (luckily there wasn't much to do that day) and send them over. He's not really convinced. I work on them some more at home and send him the new versions. He says maybe they'll wait and send the logo to the newspaper the following week, so I'll have more time to work on it.

And that was it. I asked him about it the next time I met him and he said they still hadn't made up their mind. Then a few days ago they sent me another email asking me if I could fix another logo, changing the name of the candidate and turning "President" into "Mayor". I did and sent him the finished pic. After a couple of days I wrote to him asking if the second logo was all right and if they had news about the first logo. He replied the second one was great. As for the first one, they decided to have it done by a professional graphic designer.

Now, the first thing I'd told them when they asked me to draw their logo was "Are you sure? I'm not a pro." They were sure. I also told them that if they didn't like it they just had to tell me, it wouldn't be a problem, I wouldn't get offended. But now I'm quite annoyed. I mean, you want to go and get a pro? Fine, just tell me. What if I had wasted nights working on it? I'm doing you a favour here.

Whatever. I'm going to the theatre tonight, that will definitely improve my mood.

I wanted to upload some of the pictures from Berlin and write a proper report during the weekend, but I caught a cold and was quite busy, so I'll just upload the pics now and write the report in list form. This was the first time I used my new camera properly, and most of the pictures turned out awry, over-exposed or just plain wrong. These were the ones that came out decently:

Berlin, 14th-16th March 2009 picture gallery

A few of my favourites:

Saturday 14th March

- I flew in with RyanAir. My flight was full of secondary school students on school trip. Let's just say it wasn't the quietest flight ever. (They even clapped and cheered after the landing, for fuck's sake.)

- I met Maike at the hostel and then went to my friends' place for a "quick" visit. Both on the way to his flat and on the way back, the S-Bahn was crammed full of Hertha BSC supporters. At least they were happy after the match, they had beat Bayer München and reached the top of the Bundesliga after I don't know how many years.

- In the evening we went to the Checkpoint Charlie Museum. I had been there the very first time I was in Berlin on school trip, but I only rememberd a tiny part of it. A bit expensive, but worth visiting. Of course when we got out of the museum it started raining. Luckily the U-Bahn station was just across the street.

ExpandThe rest under a cut )
gothikmaus: (OMGWTF!)
Got back from Berlin last night. Not coherent enought to post a real report. I'll just say this: at the Autogrammestunde after the reading (I'll write more about it because it was so CRAZY it deserves a proper description) there were Wayne and Lula as well. I said hello to Wayne, who looked quite surprised to see me there, then proceeded to kiss me on the cheek twice and told Bela: "She's the cartoon girl!" And Bela replied with three simple words, which have become my favourite English words of all time:

"Yes, I know."

I don't even know how I was able keep my cool and turn back to Wayne to tell him: "He knows," as if that was the most normal thing in the world, while inside I was screaming "OMFG he still remembers me!?!?!?"

So, that's it for now. More when I don't have so much adrenaline flowing through my system. I swear my hands are still trembling.

The fact that this morning I finally had a job interview at the music promotion agency where I've wanted to work for years isn't helping me keeping calm either...
gothikmaus: (Berlin)
Leaving for Berlin tomorrow! I'm so excited I'm feeling all queasy! I'm going to bring along my new reflex camera and make a lot of pictures! The photography course started last night and I already learned some technical stuff about exposure time and diaphragm opening that I'm going to use. The teacher is very nice and professional and told us to show him our pictures, even the ones who didn't come out well, especially those, so he can explain what we did wrong and we can learn from our mistakes. I'm very happy I decided to buy that camera and attend this course. :)

My Berliner friends are back from Australia and I'm going to meet them tomorrow afternoon. I can only stay at their place for a few hours though, because they're still quite jet-lagged (they came back yesterday). And I don't want to abandon Maike for too long. :P

Also, think of me on Tuesday morning! I can't give away too much, but... Think of meee! >_< Things can't always go wrong, dammit!

And let's not forget Sunday night. Let's not forget him:

Guess who I'm going to see on the 15th of March in Berlin?

Answer:

I'll consider the trip an early birthday present. Finally something to look forward to! Beeelaaaaa!!! >_<
gothikmaus: (*LOL*)
You ask me why I'm always nervous when I have to speak German? This is why:

Oh, man. "Ich habe fertig" was our sentence of the year in school. XD

But you know what? I totally respect him, because it takes a lot of guts to speak like that during a press conference. Yes, the accent is awful and he made a million grammar mistakes, but he knew all the technical words he needed to work and, well, he made his point quite clear, didn't he? Still, it was one of the most loltastic moments in the history of sport.

And, while we're talking about Germany, the other day I was out to celebrate D & P's birthdays and two friends of P's came up to me to ask information about Berlin, because they're going there for a weekend. P. had told them to ask me and they said something like "Yes, that girl dressed in black looks like someone who may be able to help us." Since when do I look like a Berlin expert? XD
gothikmaus: (The eyebrow of DOOM!)
Oh boy, it's so satisfying when someone asks information about Berlin and I'm able to help them, I like being useful. All right, and I like showing off my wicked knowledge of the city too, so what? :P

I'm currently working on Italian Contest Story #2 AND on chapter 5 of "To friendship". Richy has finally opened his eyes, yes! Well, Igor pretty much forced them open. Here, have a sneak preview.

***

He lifted a hand and carefully caressed Richard’s cheek. The blonde closed his eyes and took a shaky breath. "Igor..."

"I really want to kiss you."

Richard was still not looking at him. "I don't know if we should."

"Forget what we 'should' do."

Igor leaned in, closing the small gap separating them and felt his friend gasp against his mouth. 'Not too fast,' he thought. He didn’t want Richard to freak out and run away again. But Richard wasn’t pulling away, wasn’t stopping him. And then he felt a hand resting tentatively against his waist, his friend’s lips parting slightly, and that was all the encouragement he needed.

***

Mmh, I like being productive, yesh.
