Had a great night at Wayne's gig yesterday. The concert was at Magnet Club, which is going to move from Prenzlberg to Kreuzberg in a couple of weeks. I had already been there to see The Crash in summer 2004 (my GOD, that's almost
6 years ago :O ) and in my mind it was bigger. Oh, well. Duncan Townsend, the opening act, was hilarious. He kept making jokes in German (see Wayne? Brits
can speak German if they try) and the audience loved him.
As for Wayne's concert, I can confirm what
flaschengeist already said: that bloke makes the weirdest faces when he sings. He kept saying they were in a hurry as a punk band was supposed to play after them and made random jokes about Achim (
who totally is Rod's secret son, come on) being like a flower: he looks nice, smells nice, but no one knows why he's there. Poor thing. Later, after the umpteenth joke, he said "OK, maybe I went too far? Aww, come here." And hugged him. But, as they were both quite sweaty, they both made disgusted faces. XD
The girl playing in the film "Die Tür" was also there and Wayne called her on stage. He started talking in English to her, but she couldn't understand him, so he knelt down and spoke German. See Wayne, that wasn't too difficult, was it? There was also this inside joke of Wayne greeting the keyboards before playing ("Hello, piano") and a few others I can't remember.
During the encore Lula sang "Smashup", which is a song I actually quite like, probably because she sings it a couple of octaves lower than her usual. :P She said she was "total erkältet" and looked... quite drunk, honestly. I don't know if that was just a stage act, as she looked absolutely normal after the concert.
Afterwards I could only talk very briefly to him, as people kept calling him and he constantly had to go and greet people here and there, but at the end I managed to get an autograph for a friend of mine who couldn't make it to the gig. He asked me if it was one of my musician friends and I said that yes, that was him; I told him they won a contest and are about to shoot a video and he asked me to send him the link when it's done.
After that I hung about for a bit, but the punk band that was supposed to play at 11 was taking its sweet time (I left after midnight and they hadn't started yet) and I didn't really like the music they played in the "Rockbar" part of the club, but maybe it was simply too early and that was just warm-up music; the bar was full of teenagers anyway, so I left.
On the way home I got an SMS from my friend, who was all excited about his authographed CD and I just had to grin when I read it. A random guy walked by just then and said "Nice smile!" Er. Thanks? XD
Now I'm going to finish touching up my friends' photos so I can finally send them. The poor guys have been waiting for them for two weeks now. Also, I finally put some of my pics online, they're here if you're interested:
