Ugh, another job offer that is exactly what I want to do and for which I even have the required experience. The downside? It's abroad, so I'll never get shortlisted because I don't already live there. Sigh. I applied, but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyway. It's Friday evening, I have less than 30 minutes until I can go home and I'm having piadina for dinner, so I won't complain too much.

I'd also like to share two of my latest purchases:

I wanted to bake something today. I had some nectarines, so I looked up nectarine muffin recipes online and found a very easy one. I followed it loosely, I only measured flour (225 gr) and sugar (150 gr), then added oil and milk little by little until I was happy with the consistency of the dough. The recipe says the doses are for 8 muffins, but I ended up with 12, but maybe my muffin cups are smaller.

And you know what? Not only are these ridiculously easy to make, they are delicious. I'm definitely baking muffins next time I'm invited somewhere and have to bring dessert.

Yesterday I went to V's wedding. Today half a dozen relatives are coming over for lunch. I'm going to explode.

That aside, I saw these stills from H50 3x16 and I had to smile:

Today I finally went to The Cheesecake Factory. I absolutely love cheesecake and I had wanted to go since arriving, so it was high time. I had a slice of Adam's Peanut Butter Cup Fudge Ripple and, oh my God. OHMYGOD. Good thing I hadn't had lunch before (just a yogurt and fruit), because the slice wasn't huge but it took a while to finish. And it was DELICIOUS. (The waiter wasn't bad either, but that's another story...)

[livejournal.com profile] whatthefuckbenj asked me for the recipe of the cookie sandwiches I made the other day. I had actually thought of posting the recipe and took and couple of pictures of the process, but they are so ridiculously easy to make I don't even consider this a real recipe and was ashamed of even thinking about posting it. But since she asked, here you go.

I'm not sure about the weight and quantity, it depends on how many cookies you want to make.

Today I did a very bad thing: I went to Universal Citywalk (which could be considered a bad thing per se, but hey, let me be a tourist for once) and ate THIS:

Yes, that's a guacamole hot dog with onion rings. In my defense, I think it was the first time in my whole life that I've eaten onion rings, my cholesterol is way below the normal level and I've lost weight in the last weeks (my capri jeans are sooo baggy right now), I'm not gonna die if I eat junk food once. But my stomach was shocked and I couldn't eat anything else after that. I think I'm gonna treat myself to a big homemade salad tomorrow, yes.

Anyway, I bought new shoes! Look!

They're pretty and extremely comfortable, I love them. <3

And this is dedicated to the people who saw Scott's play. You know why. :D

Also, as I was about to leave "M83" by Midnight City (aka one of the songs which were played during "No way around but through") started playing. Of course I stayed a little bit longer. :)

Let's talk about cupcakes. I went back to "Yummy Cupcakes" while I was in Santa Monica today and got a peanut butter cup cupcake. I'm not a big fan of peanut butter but I wanted to experiment. And man, it was divine.

Oh, man. In a city as big as Los Angeles, what are the odds of meeting the same 3 Italian students I met on the bus coming back from Venice Beach on the 4th of July? Well, I met them again today, on a different bus in a different part of town (West Hollywood). And, once again, they were the loudest people in the whole bus. Sigh. And I guess I might meet them again, they're staying at the UCLA campus. They were so loud I heard every single word they said and found out they're from Milan too. I wonder if I'm that loud too when I'm with my friends. I probably am. /o\

Anyway, I went to Little Tokyo today and ate sushi in one of those places that have a revolving belt carrying little dishes and you choose the ones you want. I've always wanted to eat in a place like that! *_* And it wasn't expensive at all, with $20 I ate, drank and left a tip. Not bad. Even if I was confused at first, because instead of "revolving belt" I had read "revolting belt" and thought "WTF?" XD

I've finally found a place that makes bagels! *tears of joy* Bagels are not easy to find in Italy, but a couple of weeks ago I remembered there's an American bakery somewhere in Milan, so I did a bit of searching on line and found out the bakery has become a small chain with 4 shops and they have special brunch menus on the weekend. I went there with my friends today and it was divine. Also, our waiter was a gorgeous Brazilian guy, tall, lean, dark hair, nerdy glasses and he had such an adorable accent, at first I thought he was American or at least from an English-speaking country, he didn't sound Portuguese at all. So, all in all, a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday.

And walking around the city centre under a light drizzle with only a few people around reminded me that I do like Milan, even if I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with it at times.

You know what I also like? ALEX O' LOUGHLIN WITH GLASSES AND LONG HAIR.

God, the way he speaks at the beginning. GUH.

ETA: Also, this interview?

The very last question about his vamp teeth?

"I can perform all kinds of lewd acts."

Well, thank you for the mental image, Alex. Thank you very much.

Positive things of being back to living with my parents:

Lasagne

Zuppa inglese

Both home-made by my mum. (It's her birthday.)

Still looking for a job, both in Italy and abroad. Still bloody hot. My father told me the temperature this morning was 48°C in the sun. What. The. Hell. D:

I'm still alive. Sort of. Friday night I flew back to Milan for a quick visit, I landed around 11 PM. On Saturday I got my anti-flu vaccination, ate a huge steak ('cos my mother said "I'm sure you're not eating enough meat!") and my favourite apple pie, helped my mother making lasagne and went out to dinner with my friends. On Sunday I woke up with a fever, which is quite normal after a flu jab, and felt pretty crappy (I'd also got my period the day before, oh, joy) and had to actually force myself to eat my mum's delicious lasagne. You can imagine just how worried she was. I had my return flight at 7:30 PM and at 10 PM I was safely "at home". Then on Monday I started my Praktikum and yesterday I was sent to a conference to see how things work, the new trainee and I had to be at the hotel where the conference took place at 8 AM! D: When I got home last night I was so tired I just had some rice soup and went to bed at 9 PM. But today I'm feeling much better. And it SNOWED this morning! WTF it's just November! :O

Just read on Bela's Twitter:

Gesuch: Schwarzer Pudel für Fotoshooting im Raum Hamburg gesucht! Antwort bitte an: fanpost@bela-b.de.

Kitsch-O-Meter level: About to explode. XD

My first day at the language school was all right, I'm in a class with 9 other people in the morning: 2 from French-speaking Switzerland, 1 French, 3 Americans (the 2 guys from Oregon have such a strong accent, I can barely understand what they say), a guy from Spain, 1 from England and 1 from New Zeland; while in the afternoon it's just me, the guy from France and a guy from Japan - who also has such a thick accent.

Then I went to my friends to pick up my coat and combat boots and stayed for dinner: I ate Sauereier and survived. XD We also watched a part of "Zeitgeist" (you can find teh English version with Italian subtitles here: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=74FB6812A07FFF81&search_query=zeitgeist) and I'm definitely going to see the rest as soon as I have a bit of time. I am DISGUSTED with our society.

Talking about being disgusted with our society, Saturday I'm probably going to take part in a demonstration in front of the Italian embassy in Berlin to protest against Berlusconi's power over the Italian media and will try to take pictures.

And now... sleep.

Oh my God, I'm so full. I had spaghetti with clams and vitello tonnato for lunch, I hadn't eaten those in ages. They were delicious, but now I'm about to burst.

But no one's interested in that. Here, have a drabble. Silly and sweet, just as I like it.

Title: Goodnight kiss
Fandom: Die Ärzte
Characters: Bela B, Farin Urlaub
Prompt: 033 – Too much; 065 - Passing
Word Count: 203
Rating: PG-13
Author's Notes: Double drabble featuring 2 prompts. Contains slash.

Disclaimer: this is a work of fiction. The people portrayed in this story are real, but I use their "public personas" as if they were fictional characters. No libel or copyright infringement intended.

"I can't believe you drank so much!" Farin grumbled as he dragged Bela up the stairs.

"Didn't drink sho mush." Bela was clinging to him and dragging his feet.

"The hell you didn't. That was too much even for your standards, you're going to pass out as soon as you get into bed. I wonder how you can still be conscious."

Farin fumbled with the keys and finally managed to open the door. He didn't bother closing it and went straight to Bela's bedroom, intending to drop him off on the mattress and take a shower, the stench of smoke in his hair was unbearable.

"All right you drunkard, here we are."

He tried to remove Bela's arm from around his waist, but the drummer would have nothing of it. He ended up losing his balance and was pulled down, landing on top of his friend with an "Ooph".

"Mmh, bed."

"Yes, you fucker, bed. Now let me go, so I can get cleaned up and sleep too."

Bela pouted. "G'night kish." He grabbed Farin's face and gave him a sloppy kiss. "Kyu," he mumbled and passed out.

Farin smiled. No matter how hard he tried, he could never stay mad at him.

What a great night we had yesterday. Stefano, Elena, Vale and I went to see Easy Cure, THE Italian Cure cover band, and they were brilliant as usual. I've seen them a few times, last night must have been the 7th concert or something, and it's always a pleasure. During "A forest" a little wave of nostalgia hit me, that was the first song I've ever learned to play on the bass after all. *sigh*

After them a Depeche Mode cover band played, a replacement of the band that was supposed to play. They were good too, but it's difficult to live up to Dave Gahan's fantastic voice and stage antics. And gorgeousness.

After the concerts we stayed and danced, the DJ started out with '80s music, then rock, electro and indie. Oh, it had been so long since I'd heard "Du hast" and "Hey girl, hey boy" in a club. At one point, just after the gigs, I turned around... and saw a guy wearing a Rock'n'Roll Realschule T-shirt! I got all excited and was like "OMGOMGOMG he's wearing an Ärzte T-shirt AAAH!" Elena said I should "socialise", so I grabbed her and walked up to him. I tapped him on the shoulder and asked him if he knew Die Ärzte, but he shook his head and looked at me as if he had no idea what I was talking about. I thought he hadn't heard me - the music was quite loud - and I repeated "Die Ärzte, the band on your T-shirt." But he just said "No, I bought it years ago, just because." I really didn't know how to carry on the conversation at that point, so I just said "Ah, OK," gave him a thumbs up and walked back to Vale and Ste. Vale of course told me "WHAT? You left? You should have hit on him!" Bah. I don't make passes at people in clubs, last time I did... Uhm. Whatever.

Anyway! I booked the hostel in Hamburg and I'm really happy about it! Yes! I still haven't decided if I'm gonna wait till December and buy the FURT album in Hamburg or if I'm going to buy it online. I may end up buying it together with the DÄ calendar next week.

Also, today I got up around 12:30 (man, I'm not used to going to sleep at 4:30 AM anymore) and had a wonderful brunch that filled me with joy. Freshly made orange juice, cappuccino, a banana and my favourite bread (rye flour + sunflower and sesame seeds) with butter and brown sugar on it. I used to eat bread with butter and sugar on holiday when I was younger, and that contributed greatly to today's good mood.

So, yes, a positive entry. There have been too little of those in my LJ lately.

Oh, my...

Demi's right, there must be something wrong with me: I've just baked a cake. o_O

The official reason is that my parents are coming back from their holidays tomorrow and I still had all the apples they had left me, so I thought I'd use them that way. But I'm still getting a bit worried, until some time ago the thought of baking a cake would've never crossed my mind, unless my friends were coming over or it was some special occasion.

DOES THIS MEAN I'M GROWING UP? I DON'T WANNA GROW UP! XD

And while I'm talking about my parents: my dad told me my mother made friends with a group of German tourists at the hotel where they're staying. Of course she can't speak a word of German and only one of the German people could understand Italian, and only a little bit. My mum could make friends with an alien, I'm sure...

I invited my friends over to lunch today and got 2 phone calls:

1) Demi, who couldn't come because she was visiting her granmother: she asked me what I had cooked and when I told her I had made a new pasta recipe my mother had suggested, a zucchini pie, carpaccio, mushrooms and some other vegetables, she was shocked and said "What? Did you really cook all that? You? What happened? Are you in love?!" WTF? XD

2) My parents: they asked me the same question and my mother had the same reaction as above (minus the "OMG are you in love?!" bit.)

WTF. I can cook, I'm just lazy and usually don't bother. I'm still laughing at Demi's shock, though.
