gothikmaus: (Jigen)

Challenge #4

In your own space, create some goals. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

After an extremely productive 2020 (I swear I've never drawn so much in my life), one of my New Year's resolutions was to keep drawing. I don't care if I don't draw or write as much as I did last year, I just want to keep doing it. And then, near the end of December, I had an idea for something that could become a webcomic. So, I guess my main goal this year will be to develop that idea and see if I can do something about it.

That, and to finally draw some decent Jigen fanart. I've been wanting to forever, but I always thought I'm not "good enough", so I shouldn't even bother. Well, not any more! I want to at least try and, if it really turns out awful, well, no one needs to know, right?

It seemed funny when I first thought of it, but it's probably only funny in my head. Also why, WHY did I decide to draw the front of Aziraphale's bookshop when I'm clearly unable to draw any kind of architecture stuff? D:

I'm always so tired these days that I forgot to post my silly Good Omens Christmas comic here. There's also another one I'm working on, it's almost done, I should be able to post it before Christmas. If I don't die of exhaustion in the meantime.

Warning: it's SILLY )

These PHD comic strips pretty much sum up my life.

The last panel? That's me every other day. I'm not a teaching assistant but I have to fight with students and parents (especially parents) to have all the paperwork we need before the deadline. The latest case was a girl who took ages to make up her mind and decided to enroll after the final deadline. We usually have a couple of weeks of flexibility, but that means families have less time to complete the application.

When I created her account and sent her username and password I specified that she only had two weeks to do everything and I wrote the deadline in bold. I got no reply, so I called them to make sure everything was okay. The mother told me they had everything and they would start working on the application the next day. After a week the application was still completely blank (we can check the status), so I called again, I spoke with the student and she said they had gone on holiday, but she would start working on the application asap. Two days before the deadline, I got an email from the father saying they never received username and password. I saw red. I called them asking why they didn't tell me before, since we spoke on the phone three times. I said I would send the username and password again but they had to hurry up because they only had two days left. In the email I pointed out again what the deadline was.

And you know what? The mother complained with my boss because she "didn't like the tone of my email". Which had been read and approved by my boss before I sent it, by the way.

This is what I have to deal with every day. This and people who come up with the most ridiculous excuses to avoid paying us. The richer they are, the worse they behave. Excuse me if I'm stressed out.

My Scandinavian-loving friends will probably already know this webcomic, but I've only just found it!

Scandinavia and the world

I haven't read all the comics yet, but so far these are my favourites:

In other news, last day in the office today, pizza with friends tonight, two articles to write in the weekend and then I'm off to Malta (to work, not on holiday) on Tuesday. Busybusybusy.

Slow morning at work today. I'll use the spare time to share this link:

That's exactly what little Sherlock would do for an Easter egg hunt.

New Los Helmstedt comic strip!

http://www.doitcomics.net/loshelmstedt/bbylh026.html

For some reason, I have the feeling there's a mistake or typo somewhere. Could someone check, please? So I can send the link to a certain bassist and a certain guitarist...

Oops, I still need to upload the pictures from the last 4 shows... *headdesk*
gothikmaus: (Olsen - Yeah baby)
After trying to install the latest version of Skype for an hour, I could finally talk with my parents and see them. It feels... weird. But I'm gonna see them in person at the end of the month anyway, I'm going back to Milan for a weekend.

And I finally drew a new Los Helmstedt cartoon! Featuring Holly Burnette as well. I don't know if I wanna draw Gary Schmalzl, though... :P

http://www.doitcomics.net/loshelmstedt/bbylh025.html

I must say I'm quite happy with the results... XD

Heh...

Ugh, today it took me 1 hour and 50 minutes to get to work. And I'm afraid it's going to be like that from now on, because of the summer timetables. Luckily we're going to stay here only until the end of July, then everyone will be moved to another office, which is only 30 minutes from where I live. I can't wait.

Other than that, here's a new Los Helmstedt cartoon:

http://www.doitcomics.net/loshelmstedt/bbylh023.html

It took me ages to add Bela's tattoos, thank goodness there's Photoshop. Also, is it just me or did he turn out extremely emo-looking? Oops.

And last Saturday I got the train tickets for Montreux! I'm so glad they still have a promotion, I paid €58 for a return ticket, the regulare fare would be €98. I also bought Heidi soap bubble solution for 50 cents. I wanted to buy one to bring along (don't ask), and when I saw the bottle with the Heidi picture, I knew I had to get that one. Hey, I'm going to Switzerland after all! (All right, it's not Graubünden, but who cares. :P)
gothikmaus: (Moi)
I shouldn't have used that Bela pic as header image, now I just keep staring at it. *_*

Last night I went to the party meeting for the annual festival they're organising. Of course they've already done all the music-related stuff, so I can't help out with that; I'll be in charge of the bookshop instead. But I want to learn something anyway, like buroucratic stuff about permits and copyright money an the like. I mean, I know what you need to do, but I don't know how, and that's the reason why I wanted to help them, so I could learn something too. Whatever. At least I'm not going to fry fish.

Some time ago I got an idea for a webcomic, I thought it was a brilliant idea at first, but then lost all my motivation. I wanted to put it on my site using Wordpress, so I could manage it easily like a blog, but then I found out my host doesn't support Wordpress, or better, you need to buy additional PHP features to make it work, and even then Wordpress doesn't guarantee that it will actually work. I thought of just creating a standard Wordpress blog, but the name I wanted to use was already taken (the blog was deleted, but I can't use the name). I could use another name, the original one was nothing special and I was thinking of changing it anyway, but I can't think of anything at the moment. It just doesn't seem such a great idea anymore.

I'll just post the first panel here:

I just wanted to draw short, humorous strips with those two characters, but I'm not very motivated at the moment. I'll just stick to my Los Helmstedt comics, I already have an idea for the next strip. And I need to start working on my photographic portfolio. Not that I'll ever need a real portfolio, but it would be nice to actually have one.
gothikmaus: (Olsen - Yeah baby)
First: I finally drew a new Los Helmstedt cartoon:

http://www.doitcomics.net/loshelmstedt/bbylh022.html

I should've done this at least a month ago, but we all know I'm the queen of procrastination. I really like Olsen's face, by the way. XD

And then a travel meme, as seen in [livejournal.com profile] flaschengeist's LJ.

Foreign countries visited so far, in no particular order:

- Germany: several weeks in Berlin, a few days in Munich, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Bremen, Nürnberg, Mannheim, Leipzig. Plus a few music festivals.

- Austria: Innsbruck, Kufstein, Salzburg.

- Switzerland: Zürich, Winterthur, Gampel, some town in Tessin (the Italian part of Switzerland) and Graubünden

- USA: New York City, part of New Jersey, Washington DC

- Great Britain: London, Chester, Manchester, Liverpool, part of the Lake District, Brighton, a small town in Wales

- The Netherlands: Amsterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht, Haarlem

- Greece: Rhodes

- Czech Republic: Prague

- Hungary: Budapest

- Liechtenstein: a few hours in Vaduz

- Spain: Barcelona and Sitges

PS I got my hair cut today. Maybe a little too much. My head feels sooo light...

Seekret Graphic Project of Doom is temporary on hiatus. The concert we were trying to organise was cancelled. I had to wake up insanely early both yesterday and today.

At least I drew another comic:

http://www.doitcomics.net/loshelmstedt/bbylh021.html

And now I'm off to the cinema.
gothikmaus: (Olsen - Yeah baby)
Lo and behold the new Los Helmstedt comic!

http://www.doitcomics.net/loshelmstedt/bbylh020.html

A big thank you to Maike for the idea, I changed the dialogues a bit but I hope you like it.

Yesterday I was in a horrible mood (why, yes, I got yet another negative reply, this time from a place in Potsdam), but last night things got much better. I went to the happy hour organised by our candidate's support group and took some photos; after a while my musician friends arrived and I introduced them to the people in charge of organising concerts, hopefully they'll have a chance to play before the summer. After that we went to do some shopping for dinner and ended up doing and impromptu photo-session in the car park of the shopping centre! I took a lot of photos and some came out really nice, I'll let you know when they publish them on their MySpace.

Why can't I do something I like for a living? Or at least something I don't find totally disgusting? *pouts*

TA-DAA!!!

Wanna see how I spent the afternoon?

I've finally learned how to make decent speech balloons with Photoshop. Long live the pen tool! Hallelujah! :P

The New Year wishes I've just got pretty much saved the whole year. For realz. Unexpected things are always the best. ♥

And now, before I go out (booh, I'll have to drive in the snow), the last Los Helmstedt cartoon of the year:

http://www.doitcomics.net/loshelmstedt/bbylh018.html

HAPPY NEW YEAR, PEOPLE! And remember: I LOVE YOU! You're among the few things that keep me sane.

*collective hug*

Nooo, Schwarwel is starting another comic-course in January! I wanna gooo. T_T *SOBS*

Anyway. Yesterday my friends and I made the banner we're going to bring to Deluded by lesbians first concert on Thursday and it turned out amazing! We took pictures of the making of and we look like cool bohemian artists at work, HAHA.

Job is dull as usual. Here, have two memes/quizzes.

Found in [livejournal.com profile] pojypojy's LJ. I didn't even need to cheat.

Which creature of the night are you?
Your Result: Vampire

You are a social pragmatist, as likely to kiss as to bite. Your sensuality and social pragmatism is the counter-balance to your existential angst and your tendency toward depression.

Incubus/Succubus
