Dear girls who put that announcement on wg-gesucht.de, why don't you reply to my message? You didn't even specify a phone number, so I can only hope you did get my email. If you don't reply within a couple of days I'll have to try with the next WG on my list, and that would be a pity because your room would be perfect, dammit! >_<

I'm getting more and more impatient, I just want everything to work out so I can get the hell away from here next month. My friends don't know anything about my plans yet, I'll only tell them when I have everything sorted out. I just want to tell everyone I'm going away, but I'll have to wait. ARGH.

Anyway, we're going to watch "The boat that rocked" tonight, I'm sure it'll be great.

Hah, When I was applying to live w/ people 2 years ago (god it's been a long time) I sent out 5-10 of those a day for a week, and I ended up getting 4? responses total, and only 1 positive (and it ended up being a coal-oven ghetto, jesus christ). So XD

If you're not there to look at the WG and talk to them, Germans can be real weird about having you move in. So I suggest you send out LOTS of "Hey, I'm interested in your wg..." ads. If someone says "we'd love for you to move in!" just be like "I'm waiting on one response, I'll let you know in 1-2 days" or whatever.

I wouldn't call it weird to want to meet the actual person before allowing him or her to move into your flat... but oh well, maybe I'm too German for my own good. XD
On the other hand... they do that in L'Auberge Espagnole, too. HAH!

Well it is the weekend ;) A lot of people "switch off" on Friday afternoon and don't tune back into real life until some time on Monday.

I'm sure you'll find somewhere soon enough :) It's coming into the time of year where people start letting out rooms for students and such.

It's the weekend and semester break, maybe you have to be a bit more patient? ;)

Do you want a WG in any case or are you searching for little flats too? Maybe it's easier to reach the real landlords than WG mates.

A WG would be better, so I would be forced to speak German all the time and I wouldn't be on my own, but if I can't find anything else I'll look for little flats as well.

Mhhm... I'd agree with Sammy, I would definitely send out wayyyy more than one WG-request. A lot of people (+/-40% in my case) won't even answer your request, others will require you to come to Berlin to meet them before giving you any kind of positive reply, a lot of people don't actually want an "international" WG (shame on them!) and just a tinyyy percentage will agree on letting you move in without having met you. ;)

Erm yeah, well, sorry to sound so negative all of a sudden. I don't mean it like that - it IS fairly easy to find a WG in Berlin. Though I would really suggest to have a look at a couple of WGs, meeting their inhabitants, before moving in. Many people put their rooms online on a very short notice, anyway. Another idea would be to maybe put a (detailed and funny, if possible XD) request online at WG-gesucht. I got quite a few answers from people willing to rent a room in their WGs out to me via that... :)

I started out with only one reply because I reeeally liked that room, but of course I have a list of possible WGs and will probably contact them all.

Also, I have no problem going to Berlin to meet the people already living there, I'll be on forced holiday again until the end of August starting from next week...
