Snowflake Challenge 2025 - Day 10
Jan. 20th, 2025 09:29 pm
Challenge #10
In your own space, talk about one of your fandom firsts. This could be your first fandom, your first fandom friend, the first fanwork you created, the first fanwork you interacted with... The options are endless!
I don't remember what my first fanfic was (I know it was a Cure slash fic, but who knows in which old computer or external hard drive it is), so I'm going to write about the first (and only) time I drew fanart for a fanzine.
In 2020 I was contacted by someone on Tumblr who was putting together a Good Omens fanzine. I was shocked: I'm not a super talented artist and had never been invited to draw for a zine before. I was also worried I wouldn't be able to draw something good enough for a zine, but the theme was memes, and if there's one thing I'm good at, it's coming up with silly ideas, so I accepted. I think I still had my old laptop and tablet at the time, so it wasn't easy, but in the end I submitted not one, but two pieces!
It was stressful but also fun, and I was very proud of myself for being part of this project.
The zine was called Good Omemes and you can see my two pieces here.
Creative January entry #1: Enchanter
Jan. 5th, 2025 10:07 pmOne of my goals for 2025 is to draw at least one thing every month and I'm already off to a good start! I need to thank martina_a_duck and gladia.delmarre for coming up with this challenge: I don't know if I'll use any of the other prompts, but as soon as I read the first one, I knew what I wanted to draw.

I watched Good Omens 2 and wrote a meta post for tumblr. I might write more, because there were some scenes I simply loved, but I'll be travelling soon, so I don't know when I'll have time. For the moment, I'll post this here as well.
***
I don't usually write meta posts, but I watched Good Omens 2 and I don't know how to feel about it. I think now I understand what Neil Gaiman meant when he said the series was meant to be watched slowly, not binge-watched, so people would have the time to think about the story and what's going on. But I'll be travelling next week and was afraid of spoilers, so I watched the first 4 episodes last night and the last 2 this morning. And yes, I feel that was too fast.
I'm going to put the rest behind a cut so people can skip it, because it's going to be full of spoilers.
( GOOD OMENS SEASON 2 SPOILERS! )

Good Omens ficlet: A book and a cup of tea
Jan. 3rd, 2022 09:03 pmWho would've thought the first fic of 2022 would be a Good Omens one? Certainly not me! But as soon as I saw this lovely illustration by Miel Petite, I just knew I had to write something. Because, let's be honest, that's totally Crowley's bed. This is so short it's not even a double drabble, but hey, it's something!
Title: A book and a cup of tea
Fandom: Good Omens
Pairing: Aziraphale/Crowley
Rating: G
Summary: Crowley wonders if he'll ever get used to the sight of Aziraphale in his bed.
A/N: Inspired by this lovely illustration by Miel Petite
Crowley stopped in the doorway, eyes glued to the scene in front of him. He wondered if he would ever get used to the sight of Aziraphale in his bed: the angel was leaning back against a pillow, an open book in one hand and a steaming cup of tea in the other, his blond hair and sky-blue pyjamas standing out sharply against the dark bed sheets. The whole thing should have looked weird, wrong, but it didn't. Aziraphale looked absolutely perfect there, as if that was where he was supposed to be. Where he belonged.

Snowflake Challenge - Day 11
Jan. 24th, 2021 09:34 pm
Challenge #11
In your own space, create a fanwork. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I've wanted to draw Crowley just after his Fall for a while, and even started a piece last year, but I didn't like how it was coming along, so I abandoned it. Now I decided to try again and, even though it's far from perfect, it's also not too bad. It was supposed to be my version of the Art Style Bend challenge, for which I am now awfully late, but I don't really care, I'm just glad I could finish it.
I also posted it on Instagram and Tumblr.

Snowflake Challenge - Day 9
Jan. 19th, 2021 06:48 pm
Challenge #9
In your own space, brag about yourself. Tell us what things you've done that you're proud of; the things that make you the wonderful person you are. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
2020 was a very productive year for me fandom-wise, so I have a few things to choose from.
1) The two fanart pieces I drew for the Good Omemes fanzine: link to Instagram - link to Tumblr
I had never been part of a fanzine before and, even if they're far from perfect, I'm still quite proud of these two pieces.
2) The drawings I did for the Good Omens Celebration Month: link to Instagram - link to Tumblr - link to Twitter
(The Tumblr and Twitter links are easier to browse, the Instagram one is a link to the first drawing, the other drawings were posted in the following days, one each day.)
There are drawings I like more than others, but I'm very proud of myself for actually drawing all 30 prompts (+1).
3) The 24 ficlets I wrote for my own Good Omens Advent Calendar: So this is Christmas (on AO3, rated G)
I was looking for Advent Calendar prompts, but couldn't find anything, so I decided to make my own. It's "only" a collection of stand-alone ficlets, but it's still more than 5,000 words written in less than a month, which for me is a huge achievement.
Aaand, for something completely different...
4) "Ai Shite Knight" fanart: link to Instagram - link to Tumblr
This is probably extremely niche (unless you were a little girl in Italy in the '80s, then you would recognise him right away), and it was a bit of an experiment, but I had so much fun drawing it that I decided to include it in the list.
Snowflake Challenge - Day 6
Jan. 15th, 2021 09:12 pm
Challenge #6
In your own space, rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
It took me forever to choose, and I'm sure I could add dozens of works, but if I wait any longer I'll just keep adding links to the list, so here they are.
1) The Small Omens AU by Alegra Figeroid on Instagram. Each painting is so detailled and full of joy, I just don't know which one to choose. I'd say this one and this one are among my favourites, but they're all adorable!
2) The breathtaking paintings by Elizabeth W on Instagram. If I had to choose just one I'd choose this Aziraphale and Crowley piece, but they're all stunning.
3) This beautiful Crowley painting by Lilian Rieke on Instagram. The colours are amazing, it looks like it's painted on a real canvas. And it's so full of emotions.
4) This Japan-themed Good Omens painting by Martina H on Instagram. I love everything Martina paints, but this has both Good Omens AND Japan, so I couldn't resist!
5) This fantastic Good Omens piece by SB Jung on Instagram. This artist's style is so unique, I love how they use colours.
6) This Good Omens collaboration by Gingerhaole and Umulata on Instagram. They're two of my favourite artists and I just love this piece.
Good Omens ficlet: For science
Dec. 11th, 2020 09:36 pmTitle: For science
Fandom: Good Omens
Pairing: Aziraphale/Crowley
Rating: G/PG-13
Summary: Aziraphale is curious about snake anatomy
A/N: A silly little ficlet inspired by a conversation with the lovely MartinaH on Instagram.
Posted on AO3.
Inspiration just keeps coming: I also drew some fanart, which I'm going to post on Sunday. As usual, fandom is taking my mind off what's going on in real life: between the pandemic and things at work not being stellar, I'm very, very grateful for the distraction.

December! AKA Good Omens Advent Calendar
Dec. 1st, 2020 09:19 pmIt's December! Christmas cards are done (one is already on its way, the other two will be sent out tomorrow or the day after) and I'm doing something I've never done before: my very own Advent Calendar! I was looking for a Good Omens Advent Calendar prompt list, but couldn't find any for 2020, so I created my own. (Of course today I found out that there IS one, but it was posted on a private Discord server...)
Anyway, I've written 24 ficlets, they're mostly humorous and fluffy and I'll be posting them from today until the 24th.

I finally finished the Aziraphale/Crowley fic I started last spring. It's the first explicit story I've written in years, and I decided to add a little illustration too.
Title: Save a prayer
Fandom: Good Omens
Pairing: Aziraphale/Crowley
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Crowley had only wanted to see Aziraphale wearing a collar. He hadn't expected the angel to agree so enthusiastically. Or to build a whole bloody scenario around it.
A/N: I'm still incapable of coming up with decent titles, so I just stole the title of a Duran Duran song.
Posted on AO3.
Other than that, I finally made up my mind and bought a new graphic tablet last week (a Wacome One 13!), which comes with a trial version of Clip Studio Paint. Now I just need to learn how to use them...

Quick update
Aug. 23rd, 2020 09:29 pmI did manage to go on holiday: in the end I went to Pesaro, in central Italy. From there I visited Urbino and Frasassi's Caves, plus I spent three lovely days on the beach doing nothing. Well, that's not true, I finally read Neil Gaiman's "Trigger Warning", which I bought last year in Edinburgh and hadn't read yet. He's definitely one of my favourite authors.
I ate a lot (oh, how I love hotel breakfasts), walked a lot and relaxed. I also realised that, for the third year in a row, I visited UNESCO World Heritage Sites totally by chance. This could become my own personal tradition: visiting a new UNESCO site each year. It shouldn't be too difficult, given the amount of sites in Italy alone.
I also had some time to draw and write! I was inspired by the lovely DTIYS by MartinaH. over on Instagram. First I drew some fanart, then I wrote a short ficlet to go with it. They're both posted on AO3.
Anyway. Holidays are over, I've been back at work for a week. Thankfully things are still quiet, as most offices are still closed for summer holidays. We'll see how things go in the next couple of weeks.

"Staged", fanzine and a bit of real life
Jun. 11th, 2020 09:42 pmOh, man, I've just finished watching "Staged" and my cheeks hurt from laughing too much. David and Michael are brilliant in it, there were sad moments and surprise guests and... I loved it. Also, when I found out they were supposed to star in "Six characters in search of an author", which is an Italian play, I lost it a little bit.
Anyway. Yesterday I sent out the second piece for the Good Omens fanzine I'm in! I did it! It's the first time I've been invited to collaborate on a zine and I did two pieces! :D I also tried to work on one of my GO WIPs, but I just added a couple of paragraphs and did some minor edits, I wasn't really focused on it.
I'd like to finish it before I have to go back to the office full-time, which might happen sooner rather than later. We can technically apply to continue teleworking part-time once the emergency is over, but our boss doesn't seem too thrilled by the idea. He's actually very eager to have as many people as possible back in the office soon. I don't mind going back, and there are certain things I can only do from there, but working from home a couple of days a week would be nice.

YES! *collapses*
May. 26th, 2020 06:15 pmI really needed that day off yesterday, I was very productive: I did some spring cleaning (I cleaned all the shutters UGH), did some laundry and FINISHED THE LAST 3 DRAWINGS FOR THE GOOD OMENS CELEBRATION MONTH! I am so, so happy. When I decided to take part in it, I wasn't sure I'd be able to draw all prompts, but I really wanted to try, to prove to myself I could do it. Some prompts were more difficult than others, and some drawings could be better, but I'm DONE! Now I just need to draw one more thing for the 31st, which was the day the series went online and was left as a "free day".
I think I'm going to take a little break now, but first I need to finish my picture for the GO meme fanzine. It's almost done anyway, it shouldn't take me too long. Maybe I'll even try to do a second one. And I already have so many ideas for new drawings. Plus, I'd like to go back to writing and finish at least one of the fics I'm working on.
Aaah, this fandom has taken over my life!

Aaah, this fandom has taken over my life!
I've never drawn so much in my life, not even when I was in school and spent whole afternoons drawing my own comics.
I'm still working on the Good Omens Celebration drawings, I've done twenty so far. I've also drawn a little portrait of my mum for Mother's Day (as I stayed at my parents for more than two months and she saw me drawing whenever I wasn't working, she started pestering me about a portrait, even if I SUCK AT REALISTIC PORTRAITS!)
AND! I've been invited to collaborate on a Good Omens fanzine! ASDFGHJKL!!! (I still think they only contacted me because they needed more people and they reached out to all the fanartists they could find, but who cares!) It's a meme-centric fanzine, which is PERFECT, because most of my ideas are silly anyway. I have two ideas, I don't know if I'll be able to do both, but I'll try.
Oh, before I forget. The National Theatre has been streaming a lot of plays on its YouTube channel lately and the other day I watched "Frankenstein", with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller. They're showing "Coriolanus" with Tom Hiddleston and Mark Gatiss in a couple of weeks, I remember seeing it at the cinema a few years ago on one of those special nights when you can watch international theatre plays abroad. They'll also stream "A Streetcar Named Desire", which I've always wanted to see.
I should really take advantage of this lockdown to watch more films and plays, but all I do is draw and read fanfiction. Oops. Well, at least today I also baked a cake for and prepared grilled aubergines. Yum.

Happy Good Omens Celebration month!
May. 1st, 2020 08:43 pmI've been watching the Good Omens Lockdown short more than is probably healthy, but I don't care.

Ahem. Anyway. The first Good Omens Celebration drawing is posted! I'm having so much fun, hopefully I won't lose motivation halfway through...

Lots of Good Omens fanart
Apr. 30th, 2020 01:17 pmI've just realised I haven't posted the fanart I've drawn in the last few weeks. It's all on Instagram and Tumblr, but I tend to forget LJ and DW. Oh, well, I'll just put the links here, rather than posting all the pieces.
Anschiart's DTIYS: Peter Vincent (Fright Night 2011) and Aro Volturi (Twilight)
Go from '80s manga and anime "Ai shite knight"
Six Fanarts Challenge
18th century Crowley
Aziraphale/Crowley smooch
Elliemars' DTIYS
Pampd_illustrations' DTIYS
Wow, that was a lot. This lockdown really has been doing wonders for my productivity. Also, I found the Good Omens Celebrations account on Tumblr and had the crazy idea of testing my limits.

Good Omens Celebrations calendar
I've always been notoriously bad with daily prompts (hello failed Inktobers) and I might start going back to the office in May, so I won't have as much free time, but I want to try. And because I've been very inspired lately, I've already started working on the list and the first 8 prompts are already done! \o/ I opted for a "simple", comic-y style which I like quite a lot. I'm so f***ing excited, I can't wait to start posting them!

What's this? Another DTIYS? *pretends to be shocked*
This was quite fast, all things considered: I saw multie96's true form Aziraphale DTIYS on Instagram, realised I haven't drawn Aziraphale much (what can I say, I have a soft spot for Crowley) and decided to do it. The most difficult part was going from the drawing on paper to a digital image, as I don't have a scanner at home and I can't really go around looking for one in the middle of a lockdown, can I? I used an old digital camera (because I don't have my digital reflex either, dammit), but the image quality wasn't stellar, so I decided to "keep it rough". I played around with a few brushes I hadn't used yet and I have to say it was an interesting process. And I'm quite pleased with how the flaming sword turned out.

Slightly NSFW Good Omens fanart
Mar. 29th, 2020 05:47 pmMy productive phase continues! (Well, I would really have no excuses right now to not be productive, would I?) The following piece of fanart is another DTIYS. It feels like I'm only doing DTIYS challenges lately, but hey, as long as I'm drawing, I'm really not complaining.
The original by HuNude on Instagram (private account) is VERY NSFW, my version is more... Allusive. With a bit of a funny twist, because that's the way I roll. I'll be honest: I didn't think I would actually be able to do this. This is the first piece of fanart I've created completely digitally in a LONG time. Lately I've been drawing and inking on paper and coloured in Photoshop, but for this I wanted to challenge myself and see what I could do. My digital inking could be better, but I'm happy with the overall result. Especially those damn little snakes. XD
( Slightly NSFW fanart )
Now I need to start working on my long-neglected to-read list: once again I've been reading a lot of fanfiction but not so many actual books, it's time to catch up.
