gothikmaus: (OMGWTF!)
After two very stressful days, I'm back in Italy.

Monday: I realised my stuff didn't fit in my suitcase and hand luggage and had to buy another duffel bag for the extra stuff. Too bad it was Pfingstmontag and shops were closed. I ended up going to the Hauptbahnhof hoping the shops there would be open; some were, but the only one that sold duffel bags was the Hertha BSC shop, so now I have a duffel bag with Berlin's skyline printed on the sides.

Tuesday: we arrived at the airport quite early and, while we were waiting for our check in to open, my father almost collapsed. I asked if there was a doctor and was told there wasn't. No doctor in an airport?! WTF!? Anyway, the guy I talked to called an ambulance and, even if my dad was feeling a bit better by then, they said it would be better if he went to the hospital. So I had to change our tickets (we could never make it on time for our flight) and find a place for our luggage, then I got in the ambulance with my mum and we drove to the hospital. There I had to fill in some documents and translate everything the nurse said, plus explain what had happened and describe my father's general health conditions (he suffers from high blood pressure and has heart problems, so it's normal if the ECG results aren't regular) and what kind of medicines he takes. And then say it all over again when the doctor arrived. All that in German, of course.

I didn't even have time to realise I was actually leaving Berlin until we were taking off around 10:00 PM. I couldn't stop the tears when I saw the city lights from the plane window, but I was sitting between my parents, so I just closed my eyes and pretended to be tired.

I'm just happy everything turned out well and I didn't panic and was able to talk German the whole time.

A more frivolous entry about my last week in Berlin, including football, later or tomorrow.

My parents arrived, they're in the living room playing cards. We went for a walk in the afternoon and my mum's already dead tired.

I saw 3 chimney sweeps on the roof this morning, that must mean I'm super lucky.

I'm slowly starting to realise I'm going to leave in just a few days. I don't know how to feel about that. I mean, I'm happy about seeing my friends again and I guess everything will be all right if I find a decent job, but... For the moment I just want to enjoy as much of Berlin as I still can.

Oh, and meeting Nicole and Chris after more than 3 years was great. Hopefully we'll be able to meet again before they leave on the 24th.

Day 17: A song that you hear often on the radio
"Horchata", Vampire weekend

I don't listen to radio much, but there's a radio show I listened to every day when I was in Italy between January and February and they played this song every single day. Quite annoying, really.

Day 18: A song that you wish you heard on the radio
"Ziggy Stardust", David Bowie

I heard this song one morning as I was driving to work and it was a great way to start the day. Too bad the radio station had to close down because of financial problems a couple of months later. Of course only a small, indie radio station would play such a song in the morning.

Day 19: A song from your favorite album
"Pictures of you", The Cure

"Disintegration" is still my favourite album and this song brings back a lot of happy memories.

After 8 months in Berlin, I finally visited the Reichstag cupola yesterday. Better late than never. After two awful weeks the weather got better yesterday in the afternoon and I thought "All right, it's now or never!" I don't know if my parents will want to visit it, especially my mother, since she suffers from vertigo, so I just went on my own. If they do want to visit it, I'll see it again. :P

Speaking of my parents, today I went to the office to fetch my Zeugnis and then to the Alexa shopping centre and bought the cutest mugs for them:

And I bought this the other day!

Dehihihohu

I don't even like beer (I only drink Weizenbier), but I couldn't not buy it! :P

And the usual meme.

Day 15: A song that describes you
"Rebell", Die Ärzte

Lyrics

I should probably translate the lyrics for the non-German-speaking people here, but I'm not in the mood. It's basically a song about being against... everything.

Day 16: A song that you used to love but now hate
"La mia moto", Jovanotti

I had to think very hard about this one, then I suddenly remembered I was a huge fan of this song when I was around 10-11 years old. I went to look for the video and, man, it's awful. XD

My parents forgot to call me AGAIN!

Should I start to worry? :P

"Daughter? We have a daughter?"
gothikmaus: (Default)
My parents forgot me! D: They were supposed to call me today, but since they didn't, I called them and was like "Hey dad, did you forget to call your daughter?" And he said "Uhm, actually yes." XD He said he thought he was supposed to call tomorrow. What was really hilarious, though, was my mother going "OMG HOW COULD I FORGET MY DAUGHTER! I'M SUCH A HORRIBLE MOTHER!!!" XD Haha, she's never gonna hear the end of it!

Also, it's December in 15 minutes, so... Time for a silly Christmas header pic!

All right, I'd better go to bed now, this morning I was so tired I really couldn't keep my eyes open. But! I wrote some more Richy/Igor. I still need to type it all up though, so it could take a while.

Goodnight!
gothikmaus: (D'oh!)
So, today I chatted with my parents via Skype (or, as my flatmate said, "Heute wird geskypt!") I was in a very good mood and happy to see them, so I was smiling all the time. Well, after a while my mother asked me "Why are you so happy? OMGWTF Don't tell me you got yourself a German boyfriend!"

*LOL*

Can't I just be happy to see my parents after a month of not doing so?

I'm still alive. Sort of. Friday night I flew back to Milan for a quick visit, I landed around 11 PM. On Saturday I got my anti-flu vaccination, ate a huge steak ('cos my mother said "I'm sure you're not eating enough meat!") and my favourite apple pie, helped my mother making lasagne and went out to dinner with my friends. On Sunday I woke up with a fever, which is quite normal after a flu jab, and felt pretty crappy (I'd also got my period the day before, oh, joy) and had to actually force myself to eat my mum's delicious lasagne. You can imagine just how worried she was. I had my return flight at 7:30 PM and at 10 PM I was safely "at home". Then on Monday I started my Praktikum and yesterday I was sent to a conference to see how things work, the new trainee and I had to be at the hotel where the conference took place at 8 AM! D: When I got home last night I was so tired I just had some rice soup and went to bed at 9 PM. But today I'm feeling much better. And it SNOWED this morning! WTF it's just November! :O

I'm back! I survived - in this order:

a) a 6-hour drive, leaving at 5:00 am

b) a family wedding with relatives from Milan, Abruzzo and the USA

c) a day at the seaside (I didn't get sunburnt only because the sky was overcast)

d) a huge barbeque

e) a day in Rome (I got sunburnt)

f) a day at the waterpark (I got even more sunburnt)

g) another 6-hour drive, this time with my cousin's girlfriend too (she had forgotten her passport at home and is leaving for Hungary tomorrow, so she came with us to fetch it and is now on her way back to Pescara by train).

I ate so - fucking - much. Hopefully I didn't gain weight, because we walked so much in Rome and didn't lazy around much at the waterpark yesterday, but really, the wedding lunch had 7 courses, all fish-based. I had to refuse two courses because I was so full. And, for the first time in my life, I ate oysters. I've always refused to because, you know, you have to eat them raw, but I thought "Well, I've eaten sushi, why not oysters?" And, man, they were delicious.

My cousins have a kitten and a tiny little puppy (the kitten is bigger than the puppy!), they were always playing together. The kitten even licked my face this morning! AWW! >_< Speaking of my cousins, my American cousin lost two kilos since he arrived in Italy. How did he do that?! My aunt cooks tons of food! It's probably because he's always doing something these days, going here and there with his wife and 2 kids, but really, how much does he eat at home? And what? Only junk food? I really don't want to know.

I had a lot of fun, but now I need to go back to WG-hunting. Before I left, a girl had answered my email asking me if I was in Berlin so we could meet and she could show me the room, I told her I could go there at the end of the month, but she didn't reply! D: I wrote her another email, but I'd better send off some other messages as well.

God, it's so hot! D:
