I'm finally done with the DÄ concert list. It probably makes me look like a crazy groupie, but who cares, I have a lot of great memories from these concerts. They're ordered cronologically and split into different sublists: one for Die Ärzte, one for FURT, one for Bela B y Los Helmstedt, one for Abwärts.

I'll update it if I ever get the chance of seeing any more gigs. I regret not going to the Berlin concerts last summer and the Bela gigs a few weeks ago, but the last months have been too crazy and planning anything was impossible.

The people I "recently" added to my flist probably don't know about my passion for the German band Die Ärzte. It's a pop-punk band from Berlin and I travelled all over Germany (and Europe) to see them live. I was cleaning up my bookshelf the other day and found some old pocket diaries, where I wrote all the dates of the concerts I saw, train and flight details etc. I thought I could make an entry on LJ to keep all the info for posterity, but then I found something that has top priority.

Bela B is the drummer of the band. All three band members have side projects and I saw them all. Bela B also has a passion for acting and was featured in a few films. This morning on Facebook I saw the trailer of "King Ping" (youtube link), a film that features him as... just click on the cut to have a preview. XD

I wanted to draw some Christmas fanart but I've been terribly busy and not really inspired. I'm working on something right now, but it's not Christmas related, so I'll post it when it's done, maybe on Boxing Day.

Flughafen Tempelhof! That's literally 5 minutes away from where I used to live! And it's in August, which means I'll be on holiday. And I haven't visited Berlin in a long, long time. But, damn, I can't plan so far ahead. And I'm sure the tickets will sell out in no time, so I'll have to make up my mind pretty soon if I want to go. Decisions, decisions...

I've just checked the weather forecast for tomorrow in Friedrichshafen. Rain, predictably, and possible snow. SNOW. What the hell. It's October! I'm gonna die. D: Haha, no, I survived an open-air concert in Cologne on New Year's Eve, I can survive a bit of foul weather in Friedrichshafen in October. And it's an indoor venue anyway. But. Snow.

I've been so busy lately that I didn't even have the time or energy to squee over tomorrow's concert or Farin's reply to my email. And it's his birthday tomorrow! I'm sure it's going to be an interesting concert.

I'm going by train and I have a first class ticket for Sunday. The second class special price wasn't available, but with the first class special price the ticket was cheaper than second class regular price, so first class it was.

I'm so looking forward to the concert. I only need to decide what to wear. I guess a lot of layers are in order...

First of all: OMG I'M LEAVING TOMORROW!!! Most of my suitcase is alreay packed (I almost forgot the bikinis, D'OH!), but I'm still worried I'm going to forget something. Oh well, as long as I have the important things: plane tickets, passport, money, Scott Caan play tickets. :P

AND! Die Ärzte are going on tour again in October/November! \o/ I AM GOING TO BE THERE NO MATTER WHAT! The most feasible dates are the weekend ones, so I'll only have to take one day off work, either on Friday or Monday. I AM FREAKING THE F*CK OUT!

I'm sorry Bela, but Farin's songs are waaay more catchy. Even if I must admit "Unrockbar" and "Junge" had pretty much the exact same structure. Or maybe that's the reason why they're so damn catchy...

So, a little bird told me this will probably be the last DÄ tour. Fuck. I guess I could see the Berlin show on the 1st June, it's not sold out yet and it's on a Friday, but my LA trip is going to be quite expensive, so I'd rather save those few hundred euros. Hopefully they'll play again in the future, some random gig or maybe a festival or something, but still. Talk about awful timing... :(

I dreamed of Die Ärzte last night! It had been ages since I'd had a dream about "celebrities". It started off with an old friend from school telling me she loved my fics, followed by me freaking out because OMGWTF my RL friends know I write fic. Then we went to a DÄ concert, where Bela came up to me to say hello and asked me if I had already met the rest of the band. I told him I only knew them by name and he proceeded to introduce me to Farin, who was "enchanted" to meet me (the dream was in English, btw, that's what I get for reading fanfic right before going to sleep). Sadly, I woke up before they could introduce me to Rod.

I miss the good old days in the DÄ fandom. I'd love to go to a concert next year, but I have big plans for next summer and I don't know if I can squeeze in a trip to Germany to see a gig. And of course most of the dates are already sold out. Oh, well, I'll see what I can do when the time comes.

Talking about something else, this man is so adorable I could die.

Even if those 3 things are the most predictable things ever. But the language/culture geek in me loves the fact that he uses index, middle and ring finger to indicate the number 3, I'm all for little details like that. And that little smile at the end is so adorable I don't know what to do with myself. <3

Tickets go on sale next week!? What the hell, I don't know where I'll be next year! Presumably still here, yeah, but I can't plan my life so much beforehand! And the dates are going to be sold out within days, why, oh, why? I mean, they're probably going to add shows in Berlin like they did last time, but still. Stupid band. Stupid, stupid band. (Just kidding, I love them. <333)

I had been waiting for this moment for years: Luca & Paolo (see my icon) kissing. And tonight they finally did it. And for a good cause too, it was to protest against a homophobic comment made by one of our stupid politicians. Oh, I love them. T_T

Anyway. I can't believe I haven't written about the DÄ concert yet. Well, that's not true, I did write a post about it, in my Italian blog.

The gig itself was quite exhausting, they played a very punk setlist with only a couple of slower songs ("Omaboy", "Die traurige Ballade von Susi Spakowski", "Geld") and I was standing right in the middle of the pogo. I arrived at the club around 6:15 pm, but I still got a brilliant spot in the second row. The stage was quite small and only when the concert started I realised my position was a bit too central (I usually tend to stay to the side as it's quieter), but I had a lot of fun anyway. I only took 3 photos then I gave up and just enjoyed the show.

They didn't chat as much as they usually do (the concert was "only" 2 hours, not the usual 3 hours), but at one point they started to ramble about something and I pretty much lost track of what they were saying. The inside joke of the night was, of course, the Zwickau gig.

Farin said something about them being like a family and the concert being like a big reunion or something. At that Bela started calling him "Schatz". Later Farin called Bela "Schatz" as well, and Bela commented "Ah, jetzt bist du höflich". XD Oh, how I'd missed them.

I didn't hang about for long after the concert, just enough to drink the most disgusting ice-tea I've ever drunk (mint-flavoured, it was like drinking chewing gum) and rest my poor, abused feet a bit. Luckily the hostel was quite close to the venue. Also, the security blocked the street I had come from, so we had to make a detour to go back into town. I suspect it was to prevent residents' complaints about the noise. And it wasn't even 11 pm! Tsk, Switzerland.

I had time to visit Solothurn the day of the concert and the next day (Easter), it's really a lovely little town. But the Swiss accent will kill me. But more than that, Schwyzerdütsch will kill me. I always had to say "Wie bitte?" so that people would speak German, it was quite frustrating. But I ate the best bread ever at breakfast at the hostel, so I'm not complaining too much.

And now I'd better go to sleep, I have to go to work in the morning. Gute Nacht!

Guess who's going to see a certain German band in Switzerland in 4 weeks?! :D :D :D Thank you DÄOF, I love you! I was in such a foul mood yesterday, because I didn't know if I could actually get a ticket for it, but then I got a confirmation email that really saved the day.

Last year I celebrated going to a Bela concert, this year I get this brilliant piece of news. I could get used to celebrating like this...

"Do you know what Rod is going to be dressed up as?" Farin asked as he fixed his angel wings. He was wearing a white suit, complete with white shirt and tie, and white shoes.

"No idea, he just said his costume would match ours," Bela replied checking his devil horns in the mirror. His outfit was a bright red version of Farin's. The guitarist wondered where on earth Bela had found those red leather shoes.

"I hope he bothers to dress up at all this time, he always finds lame excuses not to." Bela commented as he added the finishing touch to his make up.

"Were you talking about me?"

They both turned around. Rod was leaning against the door frame, arms crossed over his chest. He was wearing a plain black suit, a white shirt and a black tie. Bela was about to complain (really, that was pretty much Rod's standard stage outfit, for Heaven's sake), when he noticed the golden triangle over the bassist's head.

"Come on you two, we're going to be late." He turned around and walked away. "And remember: I'm the boss tonight."

Bela and Farin looked at each other and burst out laughing.

Verehrte Freunde des Racing Teams, werte Fans, liiiiebe Irre,
wir haben ein Problem - und ihr habt gut lachen. Das Problem ist, daß es keine FURT-live-DVD geben wird; die gute Nachricht ist, daß ihr das ganze Material dafür umsonst bekommt.

Wie bitte?

Aus nicht nachvollziehbaren Gründen sind beim Kopieren einer eigentlich seriös aussehenden Harddisc Daten verloren gegangen, was bedeutet, dass wir zwar schönes Bildmaterial, aber keinen vernünftigen Ton mehr haben. Es gab einige heldenhafte Versuche, zu retten, was nicht zu retten war - aber bevor wir halbgare Sachen veröffentlichen, hinter denen wir nicht stehen, lassen wir es lieber bleiben. Es gibt also vorerst keine Live-DVD. Kann man nüscht machen.

Ärgerlich.

Damit ihr aber wenigstens wisst, was wir alle verpasst haben, gibt es den fertigen Schnitt, unterlegt mit dem Live-Rohmix, hier zum umsonst runterladen; natürlich in anständiger Qualität (wenigstens das!).

Und was ist der Haken?

Auf dem Live- Rohmix ist nicht alles so perfekt ausbalanciert, wie wir (sprich: Banddiktator fu) das gerne hätten; dafür rockt es schön wild und ungebügelt. Sonst gibt's keinen Haken: brennt eure eigene DVD, verschenkt sie weiter - nur erzählt bitte niemandem, wie furchtbar nett wir doch sind.
Da die Bereitstellung einer solchen Datenmenge (SO viele Nullen und Einsen!) online nicht ganz einfach ist, werden die einzelnen Songs erst ab dem 15.05.2010 hier im Downloadshop kostenlos bereit stehen, und zeitgleich auf www.tape.tv in dem für uns geschaffenen Channel als Stream sichtbar und hörbar werden. Zusätzlich wird am selben Tag diese schöne Website ein wenig aufgebohrt, tiefer gelegt und mit Spoilern verziert (Flammen optional).

Und: Am 11.06.2010 erscheint die Single "Zu Heiss" mit 2 Bonus-Tracks und einem laaangen Video - ihr merkt, mir ist schon wieder langweilig in den Ferien ...
