Three out of four Christmas cards have reached their recipients, so I can share them here.

Another crazy day at work. People make the most unbelievable mistakes while filling in the most basic forms, then of course they turn everything in at the very last moment so we have to run back and forth to meet the deadline. Sometimes I think I take my job too seriously, it feels like I'm the only one who gives a fuck in that office.

Anyway. [livejournal.com profile] angrylogic and [livejournal.com profile] kiviraat got my Christmas card! I'm SO impressed with how efficient the postal service has been this year. I hope things will go on like this and I'll receive my Amazon parcel tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

I've been catching up on Hawaii Five-0 lately. In episode 13 there's a code to crack. And guess what: it's the stick figures from "The dancing men". I love it when my fandoms collide.

:D :D :D

Message to [livejournal.com profile] angrylogic and [livejournal.com profile] kiviraat:

OMG!!! THANK YOU THANK THANK YOU!!!

I'm in such a fangirly mood right now, I really wasn't expecting it. :3 It was the best reward I could get after spending the morning scrubbing the windows clean. XD

Also, the Sherlock Holmes business card is genius. <3

(And, for some reason, my father was very curious, he was all like "You got a parcel from Scotland! It's not everyday you get post from Scotland!" ^_^)

THANK YOUUU!!! <333

TV fail

Dear Rai 4,

please don't play with my feelings. First I find out you're showing Doctor Who every morning and you're about to reach the point where I stopped watching the episodes online. Then, when I try to watch them, the TV signal gets all messed up and won't work. Every digital channel works flawlessly, but the Rai channels keep having problems. It's not like we pay a tax for them, no, not at all.

Oh, well, I'll just watch it online like I've been doing so far. They're also broadcasting the latest series in the evening, but I get home around 7 PM, so I can only catch the last 15 minutes or so. And I'm way behind, it doesn't make sense to watch the last series when I still have a lot to catch up.

Anyway, the fandom meme. [livejournal.com profile] angrylogic chose BBC!Lestrade and [livejournal.com profile] flaschengeist chose Mrs Hudson.

I wonder how people can have 2 or more jobs and not go crazy. I officially started working this week and I'm already stressed like hell. It's mostly my fault, I didn't plan my week as I should and ended up being late with the articles for the magazine (we had quite a busy week on the news front), but I thought I would only work in the afternoon with a few extra mornings every now and then. Instead, it looks like my part-time job is quickly turning into a full-time one. Which is great for my bank account, but I'd like to have a schedule at the beginning of the week, so I can organise my work; instead, my boss tells me from day to day whether I'll have to work only in the afternoon or the whole day. Now, for example, I know I'll have to work the whole day on Monday, but I'm not sure about Tuesday. Oh, well, as long as the overtime gets paid.

But my job isn't only a cause of stress. I was checking the definition of "piercing" on the Cambridge dictionary online yesterday, to see if I could use it in a certain contest, and this was the example they gave for it:

Sherlock Holmes gave him a piercing glance.

Ha.

EDIT: Also, did you see the latest PETA pet neutering campaign?

My God, I find inspiration everywhere these days. I was looking through my Wayne Jackson picture folder (yes, I have such a folder, shut up) and I saw this photo. The first time I saw it, more than a year ago, I thought "Good God, Wayne, don't you ever do your hair like that again. You look awful." But today I just went "OMFG he could be a perfect Holmes!" So I've officially decided that "my" Holmes will be a mix of Brett!Holmes and Wayne from now on. (Yes, I know I'm weird, I thought I'd already told you to shut up.)

Here's my first attempt at drawing this weird creature.

Going back to "The blind banker", yesterday it really struck me how painful and humiliating the moment with Sebastian was: Sherlock looked quite uncomfortable when his old "buddy" called his methods a "trick" and told John everyone hated him in university. I don't know why he even accepted to help someone like that. I think I read in a fic somewhere that he only accepted because John was running out of money and, honestly, money seems the only plausible explanation. I hadn't rewatched TBB after watching it for the first time, but now I realise that scene reveals a lot about Sherlock's past and how he became the person he is now. Yeah, I know, everyone else probably noticed right away but, as I said, before yesterday I'd only seen that episode once and that scene got kind of lost after the cliffhanger of doom.

I should probably write a real update, but I don't have anything interesting or exciting to write about, so I'll just thank my muse for paying me random visits and spam my flist with some more Sherlock Holmes fanart instead.

Today I realised I hadn't drawn on paper in ages, so I played around with pencils a bit. These are the results.

Phew, this took me longer than I thought, but it was fun and very useful:

25 expressions meme by ~gothikmaus on deviantART

I'm still crap at consistency (UGH, JAWS), but I paid attention to details I usually ignore or spend very little time on, like ears. And I feel more confident sketching directly on my graphic tablet, which was the main point of this exercise.

I had such a weird dream last night: I was in Rome on a school trip and David Tennant was our teacher. Farin was selling focaccia in a little bar and at one point I was on a train with David and he was trying to seduce me. What the hell?

I sent my CV to a small agency in my town this morning, they organise language courses abroad and student exchanges, there wasn't any job offer on their website, but I thought "Why not?" And they called me back after less than 10 minutes! The lady (I sort of know her, but I don't know if she remembers me) told me that it's really a lucky coincidence, because she's been thinking of looking for a collaborator. So, I have an interview on Monday. Could luck be on my side this time?! *crosses fingers*

And funny fact from yesterday: I was watching a TV quiz and the following question popped up:

Which fiction character was the main character's partner and also the narrator of their adventures?

My instant reply: "Dr Watson!"

And the first of the four options was indeed Dr Watson. Geek? Who, me? O:)

I don't know why, but I thought your birthday was on the 26th, when I found out it was today I panicked a little because I don't have much time right now, this quick sketch is the only thing I could come up with. I hope you'll like it anyway. ^_^

All right, here's the infamous ficlet I wrote for the shkinkmeme. My first time writing canon and it's a PWP, how embarrassing.

Title: Mightier than the sword
Rating: R/NC-17
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes canon/Granada!verse
Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Disclaimer: Sherlock Holmes and all related characters were created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Summary: "I think you need some assistance, doctor."
Author's Notes: Written for a shkinkmeme prompt: Holmes is biting and sucking on a pen, thinking about a case. Watson is trying to hide his reaction to this from Holmes, but he can't do it.

OMFG I wrote a Holmes/Watson PWP. *shifty eyes*

Why do I have to struggle to write 500 words for my pseudo-NaNo project, while today I dished out 1262 words of gratuitous porn within a couple of hours? Sigh.

This is the first time I've written in the Sherlock Holmes fandom, well the second if we count the Sherlock ficlet I wrote a couple of months ago, and I'm terribly nervous (even if it's just a pointless PWP for the shkinkmeme), could any of you take a look at it before I post it? Please? *puppy eyes*

My first article for the local newspaper will be about health. The subject is a bit general, but at least I know what I'm looking for. And I have an acquaintance who could help me find information for another article, I hope I can gather enough before Tuesday (when we're all meeting again), so I'll talk to the chief editor about it, he said he's open to suggestions.

Half of the new photos on Farin's website were taken in Italy. Farin, how dare you come to my country and not tell me anything!

Apropos photos, I love this one:

Am I the only one who thinks it looks like an engagement photo? Or rather, a "behind the scenes" of the shoot. >_>

Inspired by an interview where Benedict Cumberbatch said Jeremy Brett was a friend of his mother's and used to be around a lot when he (Benedict) was a kid. Silly and pointless.

Instead of thinking about tomorrow's interview (I mean, who cares), I spent the afternoon drawing.

And I've only just realised I could've waited and posted this picture for Halloween. D'oh. Oh well, I'll come up with something else. Maybe.

I was reading "One week" by [livejournal.com profile] janeturenne the other day and when I got to the end of chapter three, I knew I had to draw that scene. It's just a quick drawing, but it had to be done. Slightly not safe for work, I think, but there's nothing explicit, just a bit of naked skin.

Man, I'm having way too much fun drawing silly crossovers lately.

EDIT: Fixed the drawing, the back of Farin/Holmes's frock coat had magically disappeared. D'oh. >_>

I've been in a bad mood all day and needed some distraction, so I drew some Holmes/Watson smooching in the rain, which I'd wanted to draw for quite some time. There are about a million things that need to be fixed, but I can't be bothered right now. I quite like Watson's dishevelled hair, though.

I had the weirdest Holmes-themed dream last night, featuring both BBC!Sherlock and Granada!Sherlock. It started out with BBC!Sherlock looking for some kind of assistant (read: nanny) for him and John, but there was more to it than that, I saw him talk to some man and by choosing said assistant he had to prove he was right about something - as usual. Then there was a Christmas buffet of sorts and a treasure hunt based on a Christmas story I didn't know, so I only got 2 items out of 5 and they were wrong. Granada!Holmes was very disappointed in me and I was all "But... but... I didn't know what I was supposed to find! D:" Then, after a magical change of scenery, I was somewhere in the country witnessing a romantic date between Granada!Holmes and a random young lady, she was quite sad because she knew he would always love his work more than her and she gave him some books as a present because the next day was a birthday or anniversary and said "I understand if you can't spend the day with me, don't worry." And he was all "OMG I'm such an idiot," and hugged her and whispered something I couldn't quite understand.

Er, yeah, whatever. >_>

Anyway, look what I bought yesterday! :D

Yesss, leather gloves! All I need now is a fedora hat and then I'm all set for autumn. I also bought a long-sleeved top - purple, how predictable. I was looking for an L size, but they only had it in S and M, so I picked up the M one and went to try it on, expecting it to be too small, but it actually fit. I was all "What?!" I keep forgetting I lost weight in Berlin and haven't gained it back.

Tonight my friends are playing in front of the theatre where I did an internship in 2007. I sent an email to one of the guys working there to promote the gig, he said he doesn't know if he can make it, but he forwarded the email to a few other people. I also "casually" mentioned I'm looking for a job and he said I should go the opening of their new library on Saturday, so we can have a chat. Now, I don't want to get my hopes high, but damn, I wouldn't mind working for them again!
