My God, I find inspiration everywhere these days. I was looking through my Wayne Jackson picture folder (yes, I have such a folder, shut up) and I saw this photo. The first time I saw it, more than a year ago, I thought "Good God, Wayne, don't you ever do your hair like that again. You look awful." But today I just went "OMFG he could be a perfect Holmes!" So I've officially decided that "my" Holmes will be a mix of Brett!Holmes and Wayne from now on. (Yes, I know I'm weird, I thought I'd already told you to shut up.)

Here's my first attempt at drawing this weird creature.

Going back to "The blind banker", yesterday it really struck me how painful and humiliating the moment with Sebastian was: Sherlock looked quite uncomfortable when his old "buddy" called his methods a "trick" and told John everyone hated him in university. I don't know why he even accepted to help someone like that. I think I read in a fic somewhere that he only accepted because John was running out of money and, honestly, money seems the only plausible explanation. I hadn't rewatched TBB after watching it for the first time, but now I realise that scene reveals a lot about Sherlock's past and how he became the person he is now. Yeah, I know, everyone else probably noticed right away but, as I said, before yesterday I'd only seen that episode once and that scene got kind of lost after the cliffhanger of doom.

VERY nice picture! (And don't feel bad, I have a Jackass folder...)

That scene in TBB really is painful - and on top of all that, John corrects him when he calls him his friend and insists on "colleague"!

Yeah, and Sebastian makes a face as if to say "A-ha, I thought you couldn't possibly have friends..." =/

Thanks for the comment.

Hmm, I get mixed messages about the whole Sebastian situation. Sebastian can't really think that Sherlock's deductions are party tricks, otherwise he wouldn't have bothered contacting Sherlock at all or have paid for his services. I think that Sebastian did actually really like Sherlock in the past but for the sake of his general popularity, slagged him off/ridiculed him in front of others just so he wasn't seen as being friends with such a "freak" (though it's not Sherlock's fault he's too hip to be cool).

Great picture! I love the shading. You're just getting better and better!

Well, if that's the case (Sebastian liking Sherlock but ridiculing him in public for the sake of his own popularity), it would be even worse and Sherlock should feel even more betrayed. I bet there's a ton of angsty fic about that...

Thank you. :3 I'm really having fun drawing lately.

I don't see why Sherlock would feel betrayed. He would have known by the time he got to university that most people would do the same thing (make out they don't know you/pick on you just so they aren't picked on themselves or to be more popular). That's not to say it wouldn't be hurtful to Sherlock, but at the same time it wouldn't come as much of a surprise. I can see him getting pissed at himself for letting himself become friends with Sebastian in the first place, but I really don't think any incarnation of Holmes holds a true grudge for long. Unless it comes to Mycroft. He uses up all of his grudge on him X3

Well, not betrayed maybe, but definitely disappointed. Of course he would know people are like that, but maybe he was hoping to find an exception. And then he would definitely be pissed at himself for even thinking such a thing was possible.

I think about this show way too much... >_>

When I rewatched that the whole Sherlock-Sebastian exchange it started to sound very much like Sebastian was a horrific ex. It also explains the awkward friend/business partner bit when John was introduced.

Well, even if he wasn't an ex, he brings back unpleasant memories, that much is clear...

BTW, I meant to add that I loved the art. :-)
