I've finally seen the two episodes of "Being Human" with Mark Gatiss (4x07 and 4x08) and... Damn. What can I say, I love dystopian stories. Hell, my favourite book is "1984". And, well, Mark looked positively creepy, but still kind of attractive? And the way he talks...

Then again, I've loved vampires ever since I can remember (seriously, I used to collect vampire-related stuff when I was in primary school), so put those two things together and I shouldn't be surprised I fucking loved those episodes.

Right, time to go to bed, I think, all this fangirling is getting out of hand.

I know these pictures are old, but I only found them today and... GOD.

My crush on this man is ridiculous. But how am I supposed to resist when he's all vamped up like that!? I've always liked supernatural creatures, but vampires? My all-time favourites, hands down. I've been fascinated by them ever since I can remember, I probably still have the special issues on vampires that I found in a kid magazine I used to read when I was in primary school: I read and re-read them, took the pages out and put them away, they must be somewhere in my parents' attic.

And you know what's funny? The first time I visited my aunt in the US I was totally head over heels with "Interview with the vampire", I watched the film on TV almost every day (yeah, I know, I was a pathetic 15-year-old, but hey, my English got so much better thanks to the repeated viewings). And now, after all these years, I'll probably spend my Sunday evenings in her living room watching True Blood. My relatives are so going to think "Well, some things never change, do they?" XD

I went to see "A single man" with Eline yesterday (my flatmate got me a Gutschein for 2 people complete with popcorn and drinks for my birthday; I hadn't eaten popcorn at the cinema for ages). It was... weird. (World of the day: "Seltsamer Film".) I really liked the photography and some scenes were beautiful and very touching, but you could see that Tom Ford is a fashion designer and not a "real" director, some parts looked like photo shoots rather than scenes from a film. I also thought the story would be more about being gay in the USA in the '60s, instead it focused mainly on the life of the main character. It wasn't a bad film, though. Just... weird.

Also, last Saturday I did a very bad thing. I went to Dussman and got myself this:

I couldn't help it! I was done with the Asimov book a friend of mine had lent me and had nothing left to read! And when I saw this... and it cost less than 6€ per book... and... *is a vampire geek*
gothikmaus: (Bloody Lips)
Now, I am a total vampire geek, but I was wondering: vampire have long canine teeth, right? Then why do True Blood vampires have long lateral incisors?

I find it annoying. Yeah, I'm weird like that. But I finally finished season 1, yay! And just because I love his hands in this pic:

All right, I'm officially addicted to True Blood. If I start to analyse it too much, I see the plot is just like any other vampire story (vampire meets mortal girl, they fall in love blahblahblah), but I love it anyway.

Also, you American people on my flist: is Louisiana really like that? I mean, a friend of mine told me once that she met an American girl from NYC and, somehow, they ended up talking about Britney Spears, of all things. And the American girl said something along the lines of "Oh, what did you expect from her, she's from Louisiana." I don't know much about this kind of stereotypes regarding various US states, but I'm quite interested, could anyone please enlighten me? Or point out a site or something where I could read more on the subject? Thanks.

AAARGH!!!

The stories taking part in the literary contest are finally online!!! *twitches*

>>>>> Vamp 2008

My story is called "Aspettami, Sven" and is the first of the list. Here's the direct link:

Aspettami, Sven

*twitches some more*

If you want to read, comment and/or vote I'll be very happy and grateful. Uhm, it's only in Italian though, sorry.

And of course the results will be published when I'm in Berlin. *headdesk* Not that I have much hope of winning, I actually feel a bit silly for entering this contest now...
gothikmaus: (Dein Vampyr)
Fuck. I've just found out about a literary competition for short stories (max 20,000 characters) on the theme vampires. And I'm currently working on two vampire stories.

The best works will be published in a vampire anthology. A hundred other people will probably take part in the competition and I have less than zero chances of winning, but I'm going to try anyway, that would be a dream come true. And I need an aim to achieve at the moment.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I love School for vampires. It's the first time in ages I really like a TV show and it's aired twice a week around 7:35 AM, so I can watch it while I have breakfast. It's an Italian/German production and I love how most of the characters are homages to horror films characters: the count is obviously Dracula from Coppola's Dracula, Criptina is Lucy from the same film, Lenny is Riff Raff from Rocky Horror, Oxblood is Nosferatu, Stoker is a parody of Bela Lugosi's Dracula (and of course his name is a homage to Bram Stoker) and Gothetta is the typical goth girl stereotype ("Why is your cape ripped?" "I ripped it. It's fashion!" And the hairdo. The hairdo!) And Ashley. Ashley is pure genius! XD
