I hope my boss will approve my holiday schedule tomorrow, so I can book my trip to London to see "Three days in the country" with Mark Gatiss and John Simm.

Please, flist (that is, the handful of people who are still reading this), keep your fingers crossed for me!

Mark Gatiss is in the cast of "Three Days in the Country" at the a National Theatre in London. If I'm lucky and tickets don't sell out too quickly, I might be able to go.

Work's the only real problem: I started working there 2 weeks ago, I'd feel really awkward asking about holidays now, even if it's just a few days in the summer of even early autumn. Luckily the play runs from the end of July to the end of October, so I may have a little time to plan things out. Though of course all the best tickets are already gone (they went on sale today WTF).

Did they have to make the announcement and start selling tickets right now? *grumbles* Yes, I could get a ticket for a Saturday performance and only stay for the weekend, but I'd much rather spend a few days in London: I haven't had proper holiday in 2 years! I think I'll just informally ask my colleagues about holiday plans and see how that goes. I really want to visit London this year and I probably would go nonetheless, but this seems like the perfect opportunity to kill the proverbial two birds with one stone. Wish me luck!

As if I weren't enough of a Mark Gatiss fangirl already:

We have the exact same views on the Catholic Church (30:15). Also, the 1984 reference (38:20) made me squee. And his voice, God, his voice.

This improved my mood immeasurably. Even if the ending was a bit disturbing, skip the last couple of minutes if you're squeamish (it's about STDs).

Also, I read a short Mystrade ficlet last night and this morning I woke up with part of a Mystrade ficlet already formed in my mind, which I immediately wrote down. Let's see if I can do something about it...

So, Mark Gatiss went to Japan and wrote an article about his trip. As if I needed yet another reason to love him. Sigh.

The picture taken at the Fushimi shrine is now my desktop wallpaper. And I squealed when I saw the photo of him standing in front of the Golden Pavilion temple: last December [livejournal.com profile] schwimmerin sent me a postcard from Kyoto with the same temple on it! >_<

Also, I finally caved in and got myself a Mark icon. I could've used my Japan icon for this entry, but I'm in hopeless fangirl mode right now.

Happy New Year! I celebrated at a friend's place with an impromptu dinner, complete with bad '90s music (Scooter!), K-pop and cards (Uno and a Harry Potter game I found somewhere). Yep, we're all very mature. XD

Since one of my resolutions for the new year is to read more non-fanfiction (I read TONS of fanfics in 2014, but a bit of variety wouldn't hurt), I've decided to pick up the 2015 reading challenge.

I already have some novels I want to read: my parents had 3 or 4 boxes full of books in the attic and I grabbed a few when we cleaned out a couple of months ago. When I saw the list I realised that most of those books fit into one of the categories, so I thought it must be fate. I'm usually a very slow reader, so I'm not expecting to finish the whole list or even half of it, but I'm curious to see how many I'll be able to read.

Also, when I got home last night I had a quick look at Twitter and saw this:

Mark, your inner supermodel is showing. ♥

An update for [personal profile] polarforscherin, who might be worried about my lack of Mark dreams lately: fear not, I dreamed of him last night (probably because yesterday I was sulking about not being able to go to the Mark Gatiss and Friends event in London). He was Mycroft and I was Anthea (!), we were getting ready for a secret mission and wore matching pinstripe suits: his was black with thin white stripes, mine was dark blue. He was also thorough in checking that all accessories were perfectly placed, like a red pocket square.

My dreams are so exciting. XD

I really should update more often, but I rarely get online in the evening after work. Even if I arrive home early and have nothing to do after dinner, I just don't feel like sitting at the computer, so I just briefly check Twitter and my email on my mobile. Which is the reason why I still haven't finished that Lestrade/Molly fic I'm writing. There's just two scenes left, but I never seem to be in the mood to actually write. Oh, well.

Here, have a meme I posted on Tumblr earlier today.

Rules: In a text post, list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Don't take but a few minutes, and don't think too hard — they don't have to be the "right" or "great" works, just the ones that have touched you. Tag ten friends, including me, so I'll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know you've tagged them!

"1984", George Orwell
"Animal Farm", George Orwell
"Good Omens", Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
"The secret diary of Adrian Mole, aged 13 3/4", Sue Townsend
"All quiet on the Western Front", Erich Maria Remarque
"The Foundation Series", Isaac Asimov
"Harry Potter", JK Rowling (the whole series)
"La fine è il mio inizio", Tiziano Terzani
"Un indovino mi disse", Tiziano Terzani
"Piccolo viaggio nell'anima tedesca", Francesca Predazzi + Vanna Vannuccini

Also, these two tweets from a few days ago cracked me up. I bloody adore this man. ♥

[personal profile] polarforscherin will be thrilled to know I dreamed of Mark Gatiss twice this week. Last night I dreamed I was travelling abroad and went to see a basketball game with a few colleagues and apparently Mark was working to give the team more visibility or something. And a few nights ago I dreamed I was watching TV and a show was on where Mark was playing every character. I remember there was one with longish ginger hair who looked particularly yummy.

I don't think I mentioned I went to Trieste last weekend. I visited [livejournal.com profile] schwimmerin and had a great time, even if I ended up with a sunburn and a sprained ankle. What can I say, I like to live dangerously. ;) Here, have a picture:

We also had a bit of a fangirly moment watching Doctor Who reruns (in Italian) on Sunday morning. I decided we should always have some Tennant fangirling every time we meet, it would be a nice tradition. (Last time we met we went to the cinema to watch "Fright Night".)

Speaking of something completely different, the American Consulate shot a video which has gone quite viral in the last few days: "Italian Hand Gestures Rap". I may be biased, but I find it hilarious.

Just yesterday I was writing an entry saying I had yet another dream about Mark Gatiss a few nights ago and last night I dreamed about him again! What the hell? A few nights ago I dreamed of Mycroft, he was very upset about something and was actually crying, but then someone else arrived and he collected himself. Last night's dream was about Mycroft too, but there were 3 (THREE) of them: the regular Mycroft, a sort of "evil twin" and a spy!Mycroft, dressed completely in black and looking shifty. I'm starting to get a bit worried... XD

Last night I had a dream about Mark Gatiss. Well, he only appeared at the end, but that's the second time I've dreamed about him in less than two weeks. In last night's dream he was supposed to be the pilot of a private plane my parents and I had booked, but he was late, so my father decided to fly the plane himself and almost crashed it. At the end Mark arrived and apologised. I woke up thinking "What the f*ck was that?" XD I don't remember much about the older dream, but I do remember that at one point Mark and Noel Fielding were kissing. Too bad I woke up just when things were getting... interesting.

I went for a bit of shopping today. After trying various tops, I put on a black T-shirt, looked at myself in the mirror and thought "Oh, yes". I can't help it, I will always feel comfortable in black. I ended up buying two purplish tops, a rust coloured jumper and the black T-shirt. I'm so predictable.

Also, because I'm worse than a 13-year-old girl, have a chibi version of me, done with Chibi Maker:

I don't remember if I mentioned it here, but a few months ago I collaborated with a group of people who were working on a web series. When I attended the summer workshop in LA two years ago I met an Italian girl who was attending another workshop, we kept in touch and last year she contacted me, told me about this project and asked me if I wanted to help with the screenplay. I mostly had to "supervise" things, i.e. make sure there weren't mistakes, check for consistency issues, make suggestions to improve dialogues etc.

The "premiere", so to speak, was on Friday night in Mantua, a town a couple of hours away from where I live. It was nice to finally meet the people I had worked with. Also, I was shocked to see my name listed among the screenwriters! They did say my name would appear in the credits, but I thought it would be something like "The production would also like to thank...", I really wasn't expecting that.

It's a low-budget project and my input was limited, I only worked on it in my free time, but it was a great experience and I think the final result is really good. The episodes will be uploaded in the next days/weeks, here's the trailer. English subtitles should be available soon.

Also, I checked my Twitter timeline and saw this:

And Happy Easter to you too, Mr. Gatiss. XD

Coriolanus

I don't think I mentioned I went to see a Coriolanus screening on Thursday night. I saw on Twitter that there were going to be screenings in Italy and there was one in a town nearby, so I got a ticket. I asked my friends if they wanted to come along, but the only one who was interested was busy with work and said she couldn't make it in time, so I went alone. I enjoyed it very much, even if the Italian subtitles were a bit distracting. They showed interviews with Tom Hiddleston, Mark Gatiss and the director before the actual screening and during the interval and I didn't need subtitles for those, but during the play I sometimes got lost when the actors talked too fast. English subtitles would've been easier to follow for me, because I was listening to the dialogue in English and trying to read the subtitles in Italian at the same time and it was a bit confusing. But I understand that most people would only read the subtitles and just vaguely follow the action on screen without really listening to what was being said.

Funny bit from before the actual screening, when they were showing rehearsal photos in a loop: a girl sitting behind me went "That guy was in Harry Potter! And that's Mycroft!" I was expecting to find a few fangirls and I wasn't disappointed. Also, during one of the promo videos for one of the other National Theatre plays, suddenly Andrew Scott appeared on the screen and a girl sitting a couple of rows in front of me went "OH GOD!" Priceless. XD

I've finally seen the two episodes of "Being Human" with Mark Gatiss (4x07 and 4x08) and... Damn. What can I say, I love dystopian stories. Hell, my favourite book is "1984". And, well, Mark looked positively creepy, but still kind of attractive? And the way he talks...

Then again, I've loved vampires ever since I can remember (seriously, I used to collect vampire-related stuff when I was in primary school), so put those two things together and I shouldn't be surprised I fucking loved those episodes.

Right, time to go to bed, I think, all this fangirling is getting out of hand.
