This was totally unplanned and unexpected, but I found the "New Year's Dialogue Prompts" on Tumblr and just couldn't resist. These two will be the death of me.

Title: Fireworks
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG
Summary: Las Vegas is ready to greet the new year and everyone is watching the fireworks. Almost everyone.

"Come on everyone, it's almost midnight!" Greg called out from the corridor as he quickly made his way toward the elevator.

The few people remaining in the lab followed him to the roof, where the rest of the staff had already gathered, ready to watch the fireworks. He stopped next to Nick, who smiled at him and handed him a glass just as the countdown started.

I wasn't sure I could pull it off this year, as November was quite a busy month and I couldn't plan like I would've liked to, but I decided to do another Nick/Greg Advent Calendar this year. I have already written a dozen ficlets and I found a few prompt lists I'm going to use for the rest, wish me luck!

Nick/Greg Advent Calendar 2022

I had an idea for a ficlet about Nick's cheerleader kink after seeing a gif set from "The Panty Sniffer" some time ago. It was supposed to be a standalone story, but then I got another idea for a (much more explicit) sequel. I thought of posting them as two chapters of the same story at first, but then decided to keep them separate.

Title: Cheer me up
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG-13 and NC-17/Explicit
Summary: Two ficlets inspired by episode 10x16 "The Panty Sniffer". The first one is merely allusive; the second one is very explicit.

Cheer me up - Part 1: It's not a kink (PG-13)

Cheer me up - Part 2: The Surprise (NC-17/Explicit)

Here's the CSI ficlet I started writing while I was on holiday, I took advantage of the weekend to re-read it and fix a few things. It's disgustingly fluffy, but that's what I need right now: pure fluff.

Title: Mother knows best
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: G
Summary: Nick can't understand why Greg's mother keeps looking at him like that.
A/N: Coda to episode 07x04 "Fannysmackin'". Pure fluff. You have been warned.

Nick wasn't surprised to find Greg's parents at his place: their son had just been released from the hospital after a brutal assault, of course they wanted to be with him and make sure he was okay. What did surprise him was the funny way Greg's mother kept looking at him: little sideways glances and long hard stares whenever she thought Nick wasn't paying attention. He was starting to think he had something on his face and no one knew how to tell him.

"All right, darling," Mrs. Sanders said linking her arm through her husband's. "We're going to do some grocery shopping: your fridge is tragically empty and that just won't do. Nick here will stay with you until we're back, won't you, dear?"

"Sure, ma'am, don't worry about him. He's in good hands."

And there it was, one of those pointed glances, only this time it was accompanied by a knowing little smile.

Guess what, I fell into a new fandom again. *facepalm* I finally started watching Stranger Things, and only because I've seen so many posts on Tumblr that I just couldn't put it off any longer. And of course now I wish I'd watched it sooner. Anyway. Even before watching it, I had stumbled across some Steve/Billy content and, well, the angst just wrote itself.

Title: Action/Reaction
Fandom: Stranger Things
Pairing: Steve Harrington/Billy Hargrove
Rating: PG/Teen
Summary: Billy Hargrove had thought he had learned everything about life. He had been wrong.
A/N: Mentions of domestic violence

Billy Hargrove had learned from an early age that his looks could get him whatever he wanted. As a young boy, he'd only had to look up at his mom, blue eyes wide open and pout firmly in place, to have her wrapped around his little finger in an instant. In school, a grin and a wink would convince any girl (and some boys too) to pass him the homework he hadn't bothered doing. As he had gotten old enough to drive, he had been able to charm any mother with a smile and a well-delivered compliment, assuring them their precious little daughter would be perfectly safe with him; on one memorable occasion, he had even managed to postpone curfew by a full hour.

But that hadn't been enough to make his own mother come back to him.

I wanted to post an actual entry in June, but things got a little crazy. I don't know where this ficlet came from, but I needed some fluff, so here it is.

Title: Brighter than the California sun
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: G
Summary: Greg comes back from a trip to California. Nick can't hide his heart-eyes.
A/N: This is pure, self-indulgent fluff. I regret nothing.

Ah, yes, another ficlet that came out of nowhere. I was talking about touch-starved characters with someone on Tumblr and BAM! Also, this is not the first time I've realised I'm projecting waaay too much onto Mr. Greg Sanders. Oh, well, it's cheaper than therapy, right?

Title: Touch
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: G
Summary: Greg hadn't realized just how much he had craved physical contact.
A/N: This ficlet was inspired by a discussion I had with Peanut_Booi about touch-starved characters.

Oops, I forgot to post this before leaving for my mini-holiday last Saturday. I really needed to take a break, and I saw some amazing places, I might write a separate entry about that. But for the moment, here's a fic inspired by a certain scene from episode 05x05. It turned out both smutty and introspective.

Title: Twenty-two
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: NC-17 / Explicit
Summary: Greg has a point to make. Nick makes him see things differently.
A/N: Coda to episode 05x05 "Swap Meet". Inspired by Greg's reaction to Mia's comment about his first time.

I keep forgetting to post my fics here after posting them on AO3. I also keep getting random ficlet ideas instead on finishing my WIPs. Oops. I may have another ficlet ready to post next week, who knows. But I also want to finish the fanart piece I drew for Mermay. It's not CSI, and it's not Good Omens either: it's *GASP* Our Flag Means Death. Because I really needed a new fandom. *facepalm*

Anyway, back to my latest CSI ficlet.

Title: A friend in need
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Greg runs into his ex while he's out with his colleagues.
A/N: Inspired by prompt #27 from 50 cliché tropes and prompts: "Help me I’m being hit on at a bar please be my fake boyfriend for a second". The story ended up being a bit different than the original prompt.

This fandom (and this pairing) has been a neverending source of inspiration. Here's the fanart + drabble combo I mentioned in my previous post. I wanted to draw the picture digitally and add some pretty, warm colours, but in the end I liked the pencil drawing and kept it like that.

Oh, look, another CSI fanfic, who would've thought? Joking aside, I've been working on this for weeks, and I'm quite happy with how it's turned out. I still can't explain what this fandom did to me, I've been so, so productive. I'm constantly inspired and even when I think I can't possibly get any new ideas... BAM! Inspiration strikes again. I already have something else almost ready to be posted, a drabble + fanart combo, not to mention the WIPs that keep piling up, it's insane.

Title: Absolute Beginners
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: R/Mature
Category: angst, episode-related
Summary: Nick really believed he had a chance. A chance to make up for lost time, to finally be happy. Apparently, he had been wrong.
A/N: References to episodes 15x06 "The Twin Paradox", 15x18 "The End Game" and 16x01-02 "Immortality". Title is from the David Bowie's song, because it came on the radio while I was trying to come up with a title and I thought it was quite fitting.

So, my birthday was less than ideal (I think it was the most depressing bithday I've had in the last few years, and in 2020 and 2021 we were in the middle of a lockdown, so that's saying something), and now I'm stuck at home until next Friday. It sure looks like life is having a little too much fun at my expense lately. At least my mood improved drastically compared to last week.

Anyway. Here's yet another CSI ficlet. What can I say, I've been craving fluff lately, and these two have done wonders in helping me keep my sanity.

Title: Soft
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG-13
Category: fluff
Summary: Nick's sweater is just a little too big on Greg, the shoulders a little too wide, the sleeves a little too long. Then Nick notices something else.
A/N: Inspired by this super cute fanart by Peanut_Booi

I watched a grand total of 3 (three) episodes of the MacGyver reboot (1x1, 1x2 and 1x12), and only because I'd seen a few screen caps that got me curious, and what did I do last night? That's right: I wrote a ficlet on my mobile while I was already in bed. *facepalm* The series in itself is okay, but I don't think I'll watch all the episodes, so hopefully I won't get as obsessed as I did with CSI. But after watching a certain scene from episode 12 yesterday, I just had to write that ficlet. And it's not even slash! *dramatic gasp* As if I didn't have half a dozen WIPs I should be working on instead.

Anyway. I think I'll work some more on it in the next days and then post it for George Eads Appreciation Week on Tumblr. In the meantime I have a 5+1 Things fic ready to be posted on Valentine's Day and a couple other ficlets that might get posted before the end of the month. I'm also thinking of some fanart, but we'll see about that.

It looks like the inspiration fairy hasn't abandoned me yet...

Challenge # 10

In your own space, rec a fanwork (fic, art, vid, playlist, anything!) you did not create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

How can I choose only one?! Well, for sentimentality's sake, I'll say the Vegas Lights series by Midna_Ronoa on AO3, because it's one of the first works I've read in the CSI fandom and I would love to read more instalments of it.

And I'll add another one. I'm currently reading The Fourth Horseman by The_She_Devil, a Nick/Greg fic set in the middle of a pandemic. The eerie thing is that this story was written well before the outbreak of COVID, but the evolution of the pandemic in the first few chapters is really quite similar to what actually happened, and the "strategies" used to prevent the spread of the disease are the same ones that have been put in place in the last two years: from generic suggestions to wear masks and wash hands, to quarantine for infected people and night curfew. Of course the story is much more dystopic than what happened in the real world, but all the similarities really hit me. I'm almost halfway through it, and I really, really hope there will be a happy ending, because Nick and Greg are suffering so much in this. 😭

Please, check the tags before reading the second fic. I put off reading it until two days ago because of the tags, but I must admit it's really well written. I just hope the ending won't be too tragic. 😭

EDIT: And another one, because I really needed something happy and fluffy after thinking of that second story: i tell myself i'm not in love (but one more time is not enough) . This is also one of the first Nick/Greg fics I've read, it's a little angsty at the beginning, but just so, so sweet. And there's a bit that has stuck with me ever since I read it for the first time:

"No one will ever be as cute as we were, Nicky."

What can I say, I'm a hopeless romantic.
gothikmaus: (CSI - Nick/Greg)
A little bit of fluff that demanded to be written while I was trying to finish one of the ficlets from the hurt/comfort prompt list. I'm sure I can't be the only one who noticed Nick just couldn't keep his hands off Greg in that last scene of "Who Shot Sherlock?", right?

Title: Promotion Night
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Greg is over the moon about his promotion. Nick can't keep his eyes (and hands) off him.
A/N: Coda to episode 5x11 "Who shot Sherlock?"

Greg was over the moon. He still couldn't believe he had passed his proficiency and was finally, finally, a CSI. He looked at the people sitting around him – his colleagues, his friends – and couldn't hold back the huge, ridiculous grin threatening to split his face open. After they had finished the champagne bottle in the lab (and made sure Ecklie had left), Grissom had sent everyone home, different shifts be damned, so they had decided to continue celebrating in one of their usual haunts. Greg had lost count of how many drinks he had downed, and didn't really care. He was happy and tipsy, and that was all that mattered at the moment.

Maybe it was because of his slightly intoxicated state, which made him act a little less guarded than usual, but his eyes kept wandering to Nick. The Texan had been especially touchy-feely that night, even more so than usual: his back slaps lingered just a little longer than strictly necessary; his shoulder grabs felt more gentle, almost caress-like. Greg tried not to read too much into it, but it sure felt like Nick couldn't keep his hands off him. And the way he had been looking at Greg ever since their impromptu little party in Grissom's office, with a mixture of fondness and pride, caused a funny feeling in Greg's stomach that had nothing to do with alcohol.

Who would've thought the first fic of 2022 would be a Good Omens one? Certainly not me! But as soon as I saw this lovely illustration by Miel Petite, I just knew I had to write something. Because, let's be honest, that's totally Crowley's bed. This is so short it's not even a double drabble, but hey, it's something!

Title: A book and a cup of tea
Fandom: Good Omens
Pairing: Aziraphale/Crowley
Rating: G
Summary: Crowley wonders if he'll ever get used to the sight of Aziraphale in his bed.
A/N: Inspired by this lovely illustration by Miel Petite

Crowley stopped in the doorway, eyes glued to the scene in front of him. He wondered if he would ever get used to the sight of Aziraphale in his bed: the angel was leaning back against a pillow, an open book in one hand and a steaming cup of tea in the other, his blond hair and sky-blue pyjamas standing out sharply against the dark bed sheets. The whole thing should have looked weird, wrong, but it didn't. Aziraphale looked absolutely perfect there, as if that was where he was supposed to be. Where he belonged.

This will probably be the last ficlet of the year. Unless I get bitten by a rabid plot bunny in the next hours. (OMG, do people even still use the term "plot bunny"? I'm such a dinosaur.) I do have other fics in the works, but I doubt I'll post anything else before January.

Title: Forget
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Mention of child abuse
Summary: Nick just wants to forget. Why is it so hard?
A/N: Written for prompt #21 of this Hurt/Comfort prompt list: "Just look at me. Forget everything else."

"You ready to go?"

Nick looks up as Greg's voice pulls him out of his thoughts. He has no idea how long he's been sitting on the bench in the locker room after D.B. left, memories from the past and images of the latest case chasing each other in his mind.

He shakes his head.

"I think I'm gonna hit the gym, I need to shake off some tension."

Greg shrugs.

"Sure. Just don't overdo it, you're not getting any younger."

"Charming as always, Sanders."

I woke up the other day with this idea. I wanted to post it on Christmas Day, but then I realised people might have better things to do than check AO3 on the 25th, so here it is. :)

Title: Not-so-white Christmas
Fandom: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: G
Summary: You don't typically get a white Christmas when you live in Las Vegas. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.

***

"I love this song!" Greg exclaimed as the first notes of 'White Christmas' started playing. "It reminds me of when I was a kid." He switched on the coffee maker and began humming the melody.

"Do you actually get snow in San Gabriel?" Nick asked, leaning back against the kitchen counter and crossing his arms over his chest.

"Not really, but my papa and nana were always telling me about what Christmas was like back in Norway. They showed me pictures of snow-covered villages and frozen fjords that looked like something out of a fairytale, and I decided that was the Christmas I wanted to have. Of course I didn't take into account that Norway and California have two very different climates."
