I GOT A HUG FROM SCOTT CAAN!

I think the subject of this entry says it all, but let me repeat myself: I GOT A HUG FROM SCOTT CAAN! ASDFGHJKL!
Okay, let me start from the beginning. So, it was closing night tonight, I arrived at the Falcon early as usual because of the bus and spent 40 minutes or so at Priscilla's, the lovely little café where I'd gone with
bluedelft, her sister and
gyri last Sunday after the show. I had some coffee (I was craving caffeine) and a delicious muffin. Around 6:40 PM I headed over to the Falcon and was so relieved to see Scott's truck there. Before the play I bought a copy of "Two wrongs" and spotted the actor who plays Deeks in NCIS:LA, the blond actress from Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior (I'm sorry, I don't even know their names, I should look them up) and Claire van der Boom (Rachel in H50). I overheard Claire telling Kacy "You're going tomorrow!?" I'm glad that poor Scott won't have to take a red-eye to Hawaii straight after the performance, poor thing. But yeah, he won't be at the blessing ceremony tomorrow. There were also quite a few familiar faces, but I couldn't quite place where I'd seen them.
The play was brilliant again and the audience was really loud. And I mean, really loud, it felt like watching a sitcom with fake laughter in some points. Weird. Also, for the people interested (you know who you are), Scott was wearing black socks with multi-coloured polka dots.
After the play the first person I saw in the lobby was Antonio Banderas! My inner teenager was FREAKING OUT, I used to have such a huge crush on him when I was 15. Anyway, I managed to talk to Scott, but I was very nervous, I just told him the play was great, I was glad I could come back and that's it. I wanted to chat a little longer, but I was really too nervous. Still, I hung around and since
gyri told me I should say hi on her behalf, I waited till he was done talking with someone else and said "Sorry, just one more thing" and he was like "Sure!" and smiling and so very nice. So I relaxed a little and we chatted a bit, I told him I had been there last week with "the group from Boston", which of course he remembered, and said one of them, the one from Maine, said hi and that she wished she could be there tonight as well. He went "Aww" and I added that I was so glad to be in LA at the moment, because I'm from Milan and that I was happy I could see the play three times. And at that point he hugged me and said "Thank you for your support and for coming to see the play three times".
And after that I went and drank some of the free champagne they had at the bar because damn, I needed it! XD But I skipped the cake, my stomach really couldn't stand it. Also, Garry Marshall, his daughter (who actually runs the theatre) and Mike O'Malley (the producer) did a little speech and thanked everybody. And Scott gave Claire the biggest hug when he saw her, it was so sweet. Also, at one point an elderly lady walked up to me and this bit of dialogue happened:
Lady "Why do I feel like I know you from somewhere?"
Me "Um, I don't know, I was here last week, maybe you saw me then?"
Lady "No, no, it's not that. Are you on TV?"
Me *kinda shocked* "No...?"
Lady "I don't know, it's just... You look familiar. You don't work on TV? Oh well, maybe I did just see you last week."
Me "I'm not on TV, sorry."
Lady "You should be!"
Me *even more shocked* "Thanks?"
That was bizarre. XD
Before going away I also said hi to Val Lauren who was outside having a smoke, I told him the play was great and that I was glad I'd come back and he commented on the fact that each night it's a little different. I added that it was perfect timing that I was in Los Angeles at the moment, he asked me where I am from and when I said Milan he went "Oh, I just went to Venice not too long ago!" He added he's never been in Milan and I said "You should!" and he commented "I've seen pictures of it, it looks gorgeous!" He thanked me, shook my hand and went back inside. Oh, and by the way "Boston group": Val says hi! :D
After that, and with a big grin on my face, I walked to the bus stop, hoping I would actually be able to take it this time. At the bust stop I saw a girl I had seen at the theatre and we started chatting. And after I said I'd gone to the play last week too, with some people I'd met online, the fateful question was asked: "Are you in fandom?" Well, it turned out we're both on LiveJournal! So, hi there
risa7, it was so nice having someone to talk to on the bus. :)
My God, this entry turned long and fangirly, but I'm not surprised. AT ALL. Also, if somebody is interested, the song playing after the first scene is called "16th & Valencia Roxy" and is by Devendra Banhart. I think it's officially become the song of this summer for me.
And now I can try to get some sleep.

Date: 2012-07-09 11:02 am (UTC)Wow, free champagne! And those comments from the elderly lady---too funny! But it's true--you DO look like you should be on TV! :-D
So neat you got to talk to Val too.
And thanks for the info on that song! I'm hoping the entire "soundtrack" gets listed somewhere at some point. And I totally feel the same way--this is the song of the summer for me now too!
I'm so glad you went to see the play again, on closing night, it sounds like it was a fantastic audience! And that once again (although no surprise), Scott was so kind and gracious and appreciative!
(I bet he's SO glad he'll be missing the blessing ceremony today, hee!)

Date: 2012-07-09 07:31 pm (UTC)Haha, that comment felt surreal, I mean, there were so many actors and actresses last night and she asked me if I work on TV? XD
I hope the whole soundtrack get listed somewhere too, I'd like to know what the track of the motorbike scene is, but it's difficult to search it because it has no lyrics.

Date: 2012-07-09 08:01 pm (UTC)I guess it would be more accurate if we were called "The Northeast Group," and now it sounds like we're a consulting firm or something. LOL!
I liked all of the songs I heard, or what little I heard of them! Even the ones playing in the lobby.

Date: 2012-07-09 11:39 am (UTC)That's great that you met someone else from lj and had company on the bus back.
Hehe, the skittle socks (as nicknamed by my sister) made another appearance!
I'm sitting here smiling like a fool all over again hearing that Scott remembered us and that Val said to say HI! Need to see if I can find an address for Val (probably his manager) since I would really love to send him a note saying thank you and letting him know again I how I enjoyed the play, his performance and having the chance to chat with him after the play.
Once again I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!!!!

Date: 2012-07-09 01:34 pm (UTC)what an amazing night! thanks for sharing that! I kind of figured Scott wouldn't be there today. He'd have to take a red eye and I bet there's some last minute packing he would need to do.
I won't mention about the shirt of your icon. lol closing night would have been a great time for it.

Date: 2012-07-10 03:51 am (UTC)That lady that asked you whether you were on TV, she wasn't tall with white/blond hair by any chance? The lady I got to chatting to before the show was very much a celebrity fan girl :).
Omg, you noticed so much more than I did! I didn't even think to look at Scott's socks :D And I totally didn't recognize Clair Van Der Boom at all and I was looking right at her when she was having that conversation with Kacy. Didn't see that chick from Criminal Minds, either. I'm really bad at celebrity spotting, though. I was standing next to Antonio for 5 minutes before I even realized it was him! I did recognize J.K. Simmons (from OZ) and Mike O'Malley was the one who gave me his spare ticket. So happy for you that you got a hug and a conversation with Scott!
I totally agree with you about the laughter thing. It was a little weird in some places. I wonder if there was some sort of "in joke" thing going on though because Mike O'Malley and his producing partner Benjamin were two of the people responsible for the loud/weird laughter. I spent a lot of the play trying to figure out if I was missing a really obvious joke :D.

Date: 2012-07-10 06:17 am (UTC)Hehe, I had been asked to check out Scott's socks, but I only remembered halfway through the play when I caught sight of them.
The laughter was just plain weird. There was a lady sitting somewhere behind me who laughed really loud at every little joke. I mean, did you notice it got so loud sometimes that the actors had to stop and wait until they could actually deliver the next line? Maybe it's normal for comedies over here and I'm just not used to it, but I just didn't get it.
Also, Mike O'Malley gave you his spare ticket? How cool is that? :D

Date: 2012-07-12 02:47 am (UTC)I did notice that with the laughter but that's been pretty standard in comedies I've seen. I did think there were people laughing in some odd spots though.
That lady was a total celebrity hound! She actually had a picture she'd previously taken with Gary Marshall in her wallet. She was fun to talk to :D.
