gothikmausI'm such an otaku. I was leafing through my California guidebook and found the page about Little Tokyo in Los Angeles. I found out that every summer the Japanese community organises Nisei Week and on the Nisei Week website I saw they organise events for Tanabata too!
I've seen Tanabata mentioned in so many manga and anime, attending an actual Tanabata festival is like a dream come true! Like eating okonomiyaki for the first time (if you were a fan of Ai Shite Knight in the'80s, you know what I'm talking about). I still want to visit Japan at least once in my life, but in the meantime this is the next best thing.
