Last night, 7 or 8 years after seeing them live for the last time, I went to a Bluvertigo concert. I was a huge fan when I was in school (thanks S. for giving me their second CD as Christmas gift in 1997) and they're still one of my favourite bands. The concert was great, they're very good musicians and Morgan (the singer and bass player) is still as charismatic as ever, but something was missing. Maybe the short summer tour wasn't enough to get back the "band feeling" - they hadn't played together for a few years after all; maybe it was the location, a bit too big for them right now; maybe it was the technical problems Morgan seemed to have (not smoking a whole pack of cigarettes during one concert may also help your voice, dear). Or maybe it was just me: of course seeing them now it's different from seeing them 10 years ago, when I was 18 and they were at their highest point.

But their shows are always worth seeing, especially when they get half naked and start randomly hugging each other. (At one point Morgan went over to Andy and hugged him, and a girl standing behind me squealed: "They love each other!" XD)

There are rumours of a new album coming out next year. Hopefully that's true and by the time they go on tour again the "band feeling" will be back. But I know I'll go see them live no matter what, don't they say you'll always love the music you fall in love with when you're 17?

I'm not so sure about the you'll always love the music you fall in love with when you're 17-thing... I'm not even sure what music I listened to, then, apart from DÄ of course (that has been going on since I was 10 XD).

I'm glad you enjoyed Bluevertigo - I listened to some of their music on myspace, I can imagine it's pretty impressing live. I guess you're right, though - if a band hasn't played together for a while, they need some time to get back into the thing they used to have together. Some make it, some don't - let's hope Bluevertigo belong to the former ones. ;)

I don't remember where I heard that thing about "the music you love when you're 17", but I think it's referred to the music you listen to in your late teens/early twenties, because that's usually the music that influences you the most. It applies in my case: I still love Bluvertigo, Pulp, The Cure and, of course, Die Ärzte, even if I discovered them quite late (bah, living on the wrong side of the Alps!)

As for Bluvertigo, their concerts have always been impressive, they mix rock and electronic music and create a very peculiar sound. This time the electronic part was even stronger than in the past, maybe they were influenced by Megahertz (http://www.myspace.com/megahertzspace), their opening act, who also played with Bluvertigo's singer in his solo concerts. I saw one of his gigs last year and it was so unusual: just two people, a dozen keyboards (I'm not kidding, there were keyboards everywhere) and a theremin. They even played "Happy birthday to you" with the theremin, 'cos it was the singer's birthday. Aww. ^_^

"Yours" looks sooo pretty on the poster I bought on the night of the concert. I still prefer the blondie, though. ;)

I listened to them at myspace...yeah, I like it. I understand almost nothing, but I like them. :)

Would you mind to take a picture of your poster? :))

Sure! I still haven't put it up though, I'll have to make room for it, ie: move the DÄ posters a bit... :P

Their lyrics are really good, I translated the ones from their first and second albums into English for a friend a couple of years ago, maybe I still have the file somewhere...

I ban myself to put up posters to avoid former excesses. The worst time (I think I was 15/16?) I counted them and had 215 posters in my room. ;)
I'll be glad to see a picture when you put it up. :)

Would be very nice to have the lyrics. I think I could understand some of it in Italian, too. I don't understand much spoken Italian, but i can read it. I think we had that subject with Spanish some time ago in the elite? Don't remember what the coherence was. Coherence? Elite? WTF? ;)

215??? o___O

I currently have 2 posters on the wall above my headboard (DÄ) and 2 on the door (The Cure in the front, DÄ in the back), plus the DÄ calendar and some DÄ and Los Helmstedt photos I took at various concerts. And random postcards and pictures. The last Bluvertigo poster I had on my door was from their 1998 tour, an X-ray image of a man with a gun in his mouth...

I'll have to look for the file with the translations, some of the lyrics are quite cryptic, but very interesting too.

I told you it was an excess. :D

I have some pictures of flowers, one of asian illuminated advertising, fishes... Everything available at Ikea, but I like it neutral, I'd change often otherwise, I know me. ;)

You're reminding me I really need to start working on my Italian. I just seem not to have any time now that classes have started? :( I listened to a bit on MySpace, it sounds nice.

Let's see, when I was 17 I was a U2 nut. I still love their old stuff but I refuse to listen to the new because it just gets worse and worse. And 19 onwards is DÄ, I guess.

Well, school has the highest priority now; you could keep your Italian "alive" by listening to some Italian music? It worked for my German. ;)
