Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck. I got an email from www.kartenhaus.de saying someone hacked their site and could have stolen my credit card data. It's just a rechargeable card and I only put money on it when I actually need to pay something online, I have about 10 euros on it right now, I had it checked today and everything seems to be all right, but I'm still worried.

Has anything similar ever happened to any of you? The guy who checked the card said it may be just spam mail, but I went on the site and they have a message there too. Fucking online thieves.

It hasn't happened to me, but my dad answered one of those fake e-mails that ask for credit card info and so on before he realized it was a scam. He just reported it to the credit card company as soon as he found out and got a new card. I don't think anyone ever tried to make any charges or anything with the card, but you never know. It's better to be safe than sorry.

I don't know how it works with rechargeable cards, but I would report it to the company or whoever just the same. Hopefully you can report it before anyone does anything with it.

I've already reported it, they checked the card and the billing list and everything seems to be all right. They gave me a phone number if I want to ask more specific questions and told me they could change some of my data just in case.

I didn't answear the email but it seemed real, they only said they were really sorry and that I should contact my card company and that's what I did. I'll probably call later today and see what the other office has to say about it.

I made an angry post in LJ, so yes. I got the exact same email ('cept mine says what the last 4 digits of my credit card are? agh).

The message I got had the last four digits of my credit card too. I think they sent the same email to everyone who bought something through their site within the last 12 months, because pretty much all the data could've been stolen but they're not really sure which ones, so they just informed everyone.

Thank God I only use a rechargeable card to buy stuff online.
