Day 5

In your own space, promote three communities, challenges, blogs, pages, Twitters, Tumblrs or platforms and explain why you love them. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

1) [community profile] go_exchange - Every Good Omens fan probably already knows this community, but The Good Omens Holiday Exchange is a wonderful place, it filled my December (and early January) with so much GO goodness I'm still trying to catch up!

2) Professor Snape on Twitter - A hilarious Twitter account for all the Snape fans.

3) Lackadaisy Cats on Tumblr - Tracy J Butler created a fantastic universe inhabitated by '20s gangster kitties. I love her style and I actually have one of her comic books. This series of illustrations is one of my all-time favourite: 20th century fashion.

Day 3

In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Last year I wrote about Sherlock, which is still my main fandom at the moment, but this year I want to go back to one of my other fandoms: Harry Potter. One of my favourite moments of the whole saga is probably "The Prince's Tale" from "Deathly Hallows", because it shows the main events that made Snape the person he was. It's quite tragic that, throughout his life, Snape was humiliated, manipulated, treated as the villain, whereas in reality it was the opposite. I'm perfectly aware he's not a likeable character: he can be unfair and petty, he's selfish, he holds grudges, but that chapter shows why he became like that. Sure, he could've made different choices and become a different person, but considering his past, even Harry understands that Snape was much more than everyone thought he was. We also discover why Petunia became such a petty, unpleasant person and see that Dumbledore was manipulative and capable of terrible things, even if they were done for the "greater good".

And let's not forget the bit that makes me cry every time I read it:

"After all this time?"
"Always."

I'm not really surprised to announce that my first Inktober was pretty much a failure, as I only drew 3 pictures. It's better than nothing, but still. On my defence, I can say that my free time this month has been spent either sick (2 weekends in a row, definitely not funny), proofreading (I'm helping out a neighbour on a project of his) or trying to find a damn flat. I even found what had the potential to be my dream home, but it was on the third floor without lift. And I mean European third floor, not American: ground floor, first floor, second floor, third floor. The flat was great and the price reasonable, but the thought of walking up those stairs after a long day at work, maybe after a stop at the supermarket, carrying heavy bags... Not so much. Oh, well. It's frustrating, but I'm not giving up.

Anyway, here are my three Inktober drawings:
