Bringing about Armageddon can be dangerous
Nov. 6th, 2010 07:10 pmGeeky moment from last night: I was playing a proverb-themed board game with a few friends, the players were given the first part of various proverbs and had to guess the missing part. One of the proverbs was "Guerra, peste e carestia vanno sempre in compagnia", which means "War, Pestilence and Famine always go together". I commented "Of course they always go together, they are three of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse." Someone asked "Really? What's the fourth?" And I replied "Death, of course."
And while I was saying it, I realised I knew it not because of the Bible, but because of Good Omens.
PS This song fits this entry quite nicely:
Opening lyrics:
I'm Death and I wear a crown
I'm your mistress and your ruler
This was the first song I listened to on New Year's Day, it came up randomly just after midnight while we were celebrating at a friend's place. It was an... interesting way to start off the new year... >_>

Hallowhat?
Oct. 31st, 2008 05:09 pmMan, I really don't feel like going out tonight. It's mainly because I don't want to drive in the rain, but also because I'm not in a "clubbing" mood. I'm sure if I go out, I'll have fun but... Meh.
I've been watching Farin's interviews today and my colleagues must think there's something very wrong with me, I've spent half the afternoon grinning and trying not to burst out laughing. Also, when I saw he talks about "In Between Days" by The Cure here, I thought "OMG, I have to watch it NOW!" And HAHA, Farin, Markus, ihr seid Anfänger. "Japanese Whispers" was released in 1983 and between that and "The head on the door", which came out in 1985, The Cure also released "The Top" in 1984. Just so you know.
Why, yes, I am a Curehead. In fact, I'm going to see Easy Cure, the official Italian Cure cover band, tomorrow.
*goes back to watch Farin talk nonsense as usual*
EDIT: Oh, God. Farin singing thebass part I mean the intro of "A forest".
*fangirls*
I LOVE THE '80sssssssssssss!!!!!

Oh, MySpace
Oct. 28th, 2008 05:31 pmCopy&Paste of my MySpace Blog - which I update about twice a year:

This is what I saw on the MySpace homepage 2 minutes ago:
The Cure – Album Exclusive
The Cure return after an 8 year break from the studio with their new self titled album. Hear the whole thing only on MySpace.
Excuse me, but The Cure are back after 4 years, not 8 years, and it was their 2004 album that was "self titled", not this one, which is called "4:13 Dream".
Dear MySpace people, please check your references before you press "publish" next time.
Thanks.

Is it really so difficult to look things up before you publish something? All right, I do tend to be a little know-it-all (I still think "Klugscheißer" is a much better expression for it), but come on, you don't need to be a fan, just use Wikipedia, for heaven's sake. Once Demi told me I should become a music journalist, and I told her I can't because I'm not competent enough, but when I see things like that I think maybe I'm underestimating my skills. Or overestimating the journalist category. It's probably the latter.

Grey hair! Natural colour! Tarot T-shirt! (Wait, is that a Tenacious D. T-shirt?) Friday the 17th IS indeed my lucky day! Take that, Italian superstitions!
(For the non-Italians in my flist: in Italy Friday the 17th is considered the most unlucky day EVER, especially in a leap year. It comes from the Romans: in Roman digits 17 is written XVII, which is the anagram of VIXI, which means "I lived, I used to live" in Latin. I used to live = I'm currently dead. Therefore, the number 17 is considered to be very unlucky: so much that we don't even have highway number 17. I'm not kidding, we have A1 to A16 and A18 to A33, but not A17. Tuesday and Friday are unlucky days (we have a proverb saying you shouldn't leave for a journey or get married on those days), and Friday 17th is the most unlucky day. But for me it's always been the opposite, and today I've been proved right again. Let's just hope I don't get run over by a truck while I'm going back home...)
