I received an email from the girl who hosts my site yesterday, in which she said that in 2 months time she won't be able to host me anymore.

*panic-panic-panic*

So now I'm looking for a new web host. I know a few people on my flist are hosted at Slashcity (scribbulus_ink and nimori and perhaps someone else), how do you find it? Is 1Gb of monthly traffic enough? I'll also get a Photobucket account for when I post pics on LJ, so I won't be using all the bandwidth for pic posts.

BUT now I can't, because Photobucket isn't currently accepting new free accounts.

*headdesk*

Why? WHY? >_<

I adore Slashcity. Their service is wonderful, they're affordable, and it's run by slash-friendly fen. I've found 1G to be not quite enough for me -- I can usually get under but I'd have to watch how many images I posted in high-traffic comms, and I'd prefer not to risk it. Slashcity lets you combine accounts though, so I pay $4 a month for 2G and 100MB of space, which also doubles the other features, like email adresses and MySQL databases.

If you sign up, I'd suggest starting with one Tiny Plan, and see how that goes. If you don't like how tight your bandwidth usage is near the end of the month, you can either add an extra gig a la carte or double your plan at any time.

I've been at Slashcity for nearly 3 years, and I've always been very pleased with their service. I have a plan that allows for more than 1GB bandwidth, though, so I can't help with that question. But I'd definitely recommend Slashcity.

Um, let's see...if you need picture hosting for a little while until you find something better, http://www.picturetrail.com is pretty good, at least for a month or so, I think, I mean, for the free hosting.

Non c'e' di che! :D E non preoccuparti, anch'io ho avuto diversi problemi anche solo per l'hosting delle immagini, dopo le "fregature" di Supereva e (nonmiricordocomesichiama).. figurarsi con un sito intero!

I'll give you free hosting at arithmancy.net, all the disk space and bandwidth you can eat. (Er, 100 MB disk and your share of our shared bandwidth, which is 64GB/month. The artists on arithmancy account for most of the bandwidth but we're still under 20GB/month.) The only caveat is that if Acadine, who owns arithmancy.net, decides she wants to stop paying for it, we may all end up moving elsewhere or possibly have to kick in some $.
