Like every December, it's time for the usual end of year memes, both fannish and not.

FANFICTION OVERVIEW 2024

Total number of fanfics: 5

Fandom breakdown:
CSI: 2
Lupin III: 3

Word count: 7,082

I wasn't very productive this year, which isn't surprising, considering the kind of summer and autumn I had. But I do have a few WIPs going on and I almost finished the Nick/Greg fic I've been working on for ages. I got stuck along the way and scrapped a couple of scenes that didn't work, but I'm finally almost done. I also fell back into the Lupin III fandom, specifically into Lupin/Jigen, which I had never even considered as a pairing before. Life's just full of surprises.

FANART OVERVIEW 2024

Total number of pieces of fanart: 12 + 1 original

Fandom breakdown:
Lupin III: 8
CSI: 1
Good Omens: 1
Versailles no bara: 1
Die Ärzte: 1
Original works: 1

Overall Thoughts:
I'm glad I got back into Lupin III, as that inspired me to draw more, especially Jigen. I didn't draw as much as I would've liked, but it's still better than nothing.

Looking back, did you draw more fanart than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
A little more. I always say I want to draw more, but then I get lazy or work gets in the way, but I'm glad I found some time to draw.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you draw that you would never have predicted in January?
Jigen/Malta from "Jigen's Gravestone".

What's your own favourite piece of fanart of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Probably this Versailles no bara screenshot redraw. I'd wanted to draw it for a long time and finally did it. There's room for improvement, but I'm quite happy with it.

Do you have any fanart or prolific goals for the New Year?
Just keep drawing and experimenting. If I had to give myself a goal, I'd say I want to draw at least one thing each month.

From my past year of fanart, what was...

My best piece of fanart this year:
The Versailles no bara screenshot redraw.

My most popular piece of fanart of this year:
The Hairstyle Meme.

Fanart of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
The Versailles no bara screenshot redraw.

Most fun piece of fanart to draw:
The Hairstyle Meme.

Piece of fanart with the single sexiest moment:
I didn't draw anything sexy this year.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" piece of fanart:
My fanart was very tame.

Hardest piece of fanart to draw:
The Jigen/Malta pic. Backgrounds are hard.

Biggest Surprise:
That I was actually able to draw that Versailles no bara pic.

In conclusion:
I need to give myself a little more credit, stop procrastinating so much, and draw more often.

LIFE, THE UNIVERSE AND EVERYTHING

What did you do in 2024 that you'd never done before?
I managed some official work visits completely on my own; I took a test for an EU Commission job (I'm still waiting for the results); I started working out regularly and lifting weights.

Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My #1 resolution is always to read more books, and I always fail. I mean, I did read, but I could've read more. I wanted to write and draw, and I did draw more than last year, thanks to my renewed love for Lupin III, and wrote quite a bit. I didn't publish much, but I have a few WIPs that just need to be finished (AKA I need to give myself the proverbial kick in the butt and stop procrastinating). Sadly, I worked very little on my original projects. I also applied for a few jobs, but with no luck. Something is supposed to change at work in the next few months; we'll see how that goes.

As for 2025, let's make a nice little list:

- read more actual books (not just fanfiction)
- stop wasting so much time on social media
- publish the Nick/Greg fic that's almost done and finish as many WIPs as I can
- draw at least one thing each month
- keep an eye out for a potential new job
- go back to playing bass
