gothikmaus: (Die beste Band der Welt)

I've been back for less than a week and work has been insane. Thank God I took this short trip, I hadn't realised how badly I needed a break.

Stockholm is a lovely city, and the weather was fantastic: mostly sunny, chilly but not too cold, perfect for walking around. And I walked around A LOT. The hotel was not very central, as I chose it because I wanted it to be close to the concert venue, but the area was nice, the room was big and breakfast was amazing.

And the concert. The concert! Those silly old men make every trip totally worth it. And talking about getting old, I was shocked when I read Bela turned SIXTY last year. How the **** can he still look so good!?

Anyway, a few highlights from the show:

- They opened with Jag älskar Sverige. I mean, they just had to. Not only that, they wore ABBA-like ponchos. XD

- When they removed the ponchos (Rod kept his on for most of the concert), Bela was wearing a "Dancing Queen" T-shirt, with the text written in rainbow colours. Iconic.

- Talking about "Dancing Queen", they improvised the song but they didn't know the lyrics, but the audience did, so everyone sang along while they played.

- Right before or right after playing "Dancing Queen", Bela talked about concerts: "Metallica? Viel zu teuer. Rammstein? Viel zu gefährlich. Geh mal zu den Ärzten: kostet nichts. Und der Schlagzeuger ist ein sexy Beast." XD He then added something like "Just to give you an idea of how old I am: I saw ABBA live. Elvis was my Metallica; ABBA were my Ärzte." XD

- They played Rock Rendez-vous! I hadn't heard it in so long, I didn't even recognise it at first. It was hilarious as always, and when they reached the "Rod, wir wollen dich ficken" part, they described Rod's Hintern as a "Schwanzmagnet". XD

- They played "Die traurige Ballade von Susi Spackowski", which I also hadn't heard in a long time.

- And "Die Banane" too!

- After the main set of songs and the first encore, they kept coming back on stage, played one song, then left again. I thought they wanted to set the world record for the most encores played during a concert. XD

- The only "negative" thing: no "Remember, I love you" from Rod at the end. :(

I should probably write more about the trip in general, but I'm too tired, so I'll just post a few pics from the concert and then pass out in bed.
