I started writing again. I wrote a ficlet for [livejournal.com profile] slash_it's monthly topic (Ossessione) and went back to working on a Snape/Lupin fic I started months ago and then sort of abandoned. I don't know if I'll be able to finish it before I leave for Berlin next week, though.

And now, a question. If people don't comment on a fanfic or a piece of fanart, it usually means they don't like it, right? Right. So, since the last few drawings I posted got no comments (well, the one I posted at [livejournal.com profile] andropotterist got 1, wow...), that must mean people didn't like them. So, my question is this: what can I do to make my fanart better? I don't have a graphic tablet and colouring is the most difficult part for me, especially the light/shadows areas. Do you know of any sites/on line tutorials that could help me? I've already bought a book on human anatomy and it's been very useful. I know I'm not Leonardo Da Vinci, but I also know that I've improved; when I look at pics I drew some time ago I can see the difference.

I'm sorry if that sounded whiny, but I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks. =)

I wouldn't say that no comments means that no one likes it. It just means they didn't really have anything to say about it...or couldn't think of anything. At least, that's the hopeful spin I put on things.

a lot of times people are too lazy to comment unless theyre actual friends with the person like.. theyve spoken on aim and stuff :P im too lazy myself usually /:
also, a lot of times, as the other person who commented said, people dont know what to say. if its just a portrait of a character there really isnt much to say O.o it's not that its bad or anything. I like your snape and the chudley cannons ron is adorable (: my way of commenting was adding the links on hp_art_daily :P

but! i have a community solution :D if you want improvement and tutorial and shading help. [livejournal.com profile] artbeta just comment with the correct info on the public post for it, and then click "join comm" so i get a request in the email. its a beta community where you post works in progress or anything you want to improve or get help on, and its been really helpful! theres lots of artist members too. ive seen lots of improvement for some people :D

Oh, thanks for adding the links to [livejournal.com profile] hp_art_daily. I've added the community to my friends page so I can see lovely HP fanart every day. =) As for [livejournal.com profile] artbeta, can I join even if I don't post very often? I don't have much free time any more and I'll leave for Berlin next week, so I'll be away from the computer for at least 2 weeks.
