Why do I do this to myself?

I saw the Italian version of "The sign of three" out of curiosity today and it was just as bad as I was expecting. Hysterically so. XD I watched the Italian version of "A study in pink" some time ago and "The blind banker" a few months ago and I wasn't impressed, so this shouldn't have come as a surprise, but maybe it's because I rewatched TSoT recently and it's still fresh in my mind, so I could spot all the translation mistakes. Hearing different voices when you're used to the original ones is confusing enough, but when they translate things differently with no apparent reason it's even worse. I know you have to change things to keep the dialogue and images in synch, which is difficult when Sherlock talks a mile a minute, but some of the translations made no sense at all. Oh, well, I gave it a chance.

Talking about languages, I posted an audio meme over at Tumblr, it's a slighly different version of a meme I posted on LJ a few years ago, in case anyone's interested and wants to know what I sound like. Hint: I sound weird.

I can't watch the German version of Sherlock either. Their German voices are really poor. There are speakers/actors who do a good job with dubs but this isn't good enough by far and Sherlock and John sound so similar that it's really weird to watch. I HATE IT!! XD

You don't sound weird at all. I hadn't expected to have a guest appearance. XD

The Italian voice actors do an excellent job, but like you said, the original voices are so familiar that hearing the actors talk with different voices is just too weird. And some translation choices made me cringe.

Of course you had a guest appearance, I only know 3 people on Tumblr in RL, I couldn't forget you, could I? ;)
