gothikmausI couldn't resist and made an icon with this quote, from one of the most hilarious scenes in "No way around but through". If I were brave (and had a little more time to plan things), I would make a custom T-shirt with that quote and wear it on closing night, but I'm shy enough as it is. Also, because it's only a few days from now (eeep!), it would cost me a fortune. Anyway, I think this is going to be my icon for when I'm travelling and getting lost.
I had a nice 4th of July yesterday (my first!), I went down to Venice for an afternoon on the beach, then watched the fireworks in Marina del Rey. And let me tell you something, my dear flist: now I get why Chin said that being in LA is like being at the circus in the crossover episode. Street artists, bodybuilders, skateboarders, all in the same place. It's crazy.
But someone needs to explain to me what is with American 50-somethings asking me about the weather conditions: I was walking down the ocean front when, just like in Santa Monica last week, a random man asked me if it had been cloudy earlier. And, once again, I politely answered "I don't know, I just got here half an hour ago". His reply? "Are you from Europe?" D'oh. Also, somehow we ended up talking about Santa Monica, because the man was from there and the following dialogue happened:
Man "Do you like wine?"
Me "Um, not really"
Man "Californian wine?"
Me "I don't really like wine in general"
Man "Beer?"
Me "Not really"
Man "Okay. Nice to meet you, have a nice day" and walked away
Please don't tell me he was hitting on me, because... No. Just no.
And about the fireworks: they were pretty and all, but the ones they do in Monza for St John's Day (24th June) are much better:
