I worked on my second
five0bang picture the whole evening and now I have a crick in my neck. But damn, it was worth the soreness. I drew an actual background! \o/ It's quite simple, but it's a background nevertheless. I hope I can colour it tomorrow/today.
I'd like to do that "Fandom Snowflake Challenge" I've seen on my flist, but the five0bang fanart is my top priority at the moment. I'll see if I have enough time.
And, before I go to bed, the usual end-of-year meme.
What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
As I was mentally compiling this list, I realised this year I did quite a few things I'd never done before. In no particular order: I went to Malta as a group leader with a group of students on a language holiday, I went to the USA on my own, visited Boston, went to an American cinema, rode a Harley-Davidson, swam in the Atlantic Ocean, ate a fried Oreo, interviewed a singer on the phone, wrote a screenplay sample, wrote a statement of purpose, baked a carrot cake.
Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Apparently all I wanted for 2011 was to find a job and I did, so, yes. As for next year I'd like to attend that workshop in summer, read more, listen to more music and go to more concerts. And have sex.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not.
Did anyone close to you die?
No.
What countries did you visit?
Switzerland in April, Malta in July and the USA in August.
What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
Sex, dammit.

The DÄ concert in April, the weekend in Boston in August when I went to see "Fright Night" with
schwimmerin. :)
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting a job, writing a lot (mostly published articles, but some fanfiction too), drawing fanart, going back to the US.
What was your biggest failure?
Not getting laid.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
A massive bruise on my thigh, a mild form of anaemia.
What was the best thing you bought?
My Kindle! <3
Whose behavior merited celebration?
All my American relatives for being awesome with me while I was there.
Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Some of the parents I deal with at work.
Where did most of your money go?
Travels, Kindle, car-related stuff.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going to the DÄ secret gig, going to the US, meeting
schwimmerin again, getting to see Luca & Paolo's new theatre play.
What songs will always remind you of 2011?
"Empire State of mind", "Mr Saxobeat", "Danza kuduro", "Io confesso", "Ti sputtanerò".
Compared to this time last year, you are:
i. happier or sadder? Happier. Or at least more serene
ii. thinner or fatter? A bit thinner. Definitely fitter and healtier
iii. richer or poorer? Richer
What do you wish you'd done more of?
Reading, going to concerts, listening to music.
What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinating, as usual.

I spent Christmas with my parents like I always do.
Did you fall in love in 2011?
No.

None.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No, I don't hate anyone.
What was the best book you read?
"The historian" by Elizabeth Kostova
What was your greatest musical discovery?
Davide Zilli. Sadly, I didn't listen to music as much as I would have liked.
What did you want and get?
A job, a Kindle.
What did you want and not get?
A boyfriend/friend with benefits.
What was your favorite film of this year?
The king's speech? Or possibly Kung Fu Panda 2. Or Puss in boots.
What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I... can't remember. D: I even checked here on LJ, but I only wrote about being able to get a ticket for the DÄ gig and I posted a pic of the cake my mum baked for me, but other than that... Nothing. I suppose I didn't do anything? I remember going out with a friend, to a place in the middle of nowhere and sitting outside and being bloody cold, but that's it. I guess I didn't celebrate with the others. Damn, it's weird not remembering what I did on my birthday. (Oh, and I turned 31. Thirty. One. Man...)
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Sex? (Do you see a pattern here?)
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Colours are not the enemy.
What kept you sane?
Fandom, as usual. And some of my friends.
Which celebrity / public figure did you fancy the most?
Alex O'Loughlin. ♥_♥
What political issue stirred you the most?
Our fucked up economy and how our former Prime Minister did nothing about it.
Who did you miss?
My friends. Or rather, the relationship I used to have with some of them.
Who was the best new person you met?
P, the other group leader I worked with in Malta.
Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011
Keep trying.
Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Klammer dich nicht so an gestern
Heut ist auch ein schöner Tag
Hab keine Angst - es könnte sehr viel schlimmer sein
Schließ die Augen und sei stark
"Vorbei ist vorbei", Die Ärzte
English translation:
Don't cling so much to yesterday
Today's a nice day too
Don't be afraid - it could be so much worse
Close your eyes and be strong
