I saw this meme in [livejournal.com profile] irisbleufic's journal earlier and just couldn't resist. I wanted to start recording right away, but there were workers still hammering away in the afternoon, so I had to wait until I came back from the usual Thursday magazine meeting.

Also, please remember English isn't my native language, so this is probably going to sound a bit fake, but that's the way I sound when I speak English. The volume's a bit low, sorry.

13) Read this passage from The Speech Accent Archive:
Please call Stella. Ask her to bring these things with her from the store: Six spoons of fresh snow peas, five thick slabs of blue cheese, and maybe a snack for her brother Bob. We also need a small plastic snake and a big toy frog for the kids. She can scoop these things into three red bags, and we will go meet her Wednesday at the train station.

Toilet-papering (or "TPing") a house is this weird American Halloween tradition, or at least it was a Halloween thing where I grew up. Interesting to hear that you have relatives in New Jersey, given I grew up in Pennsylvania. Not so far away :)

You're perfectly comprehensible, by the way!

I have an aunt, uncle and two cousins living about 30 minutes away from NYC. I visited them once when I was 15, I think it's time for another visit...

And I'm glad I don't sound too awful, I try my best to hide the Italian accent of doom.

Thanks. :3 As long as I don't sound totally awful and people can understand what I say, that's fine... ^_^

I like your accent! Although I wouldn't be able to tell that you are Italian from how you speak English.

THANK GOD. I don't mind having a bit of a strange accent, but I really can't stand the strong Italian accent with all the hard Rs and fucked up THs and non-existent Hs. I know it's difficult, but most people don't even try.

The plot thickens...

Qui il proverbio è "co' piove col soe, e strighe se fa e coe", cioè quando piove col sole le streghe si fanno le code (ai capelli)... effettivamente la costante è una certa puzza di zolfo ^^;;

XD
