Meme seen on my flist. All my fanart is posted in my LJ under the fanart tag and can be found in my fanart gallery as well.
Total number of pieces of fanart:
27 + 3 Christmas cards I haven't posted in my LJ
Fandom breakdown:
23 Sherlock Holmes (canon, Granada, BBC and a few crossovers), 3 Die Ärzte (only 1 posted), 1 Bela B y Los Helmstedt comic, 1 Doctor Who, 1 Doctor Who/Die Ärzte crossover.
Overall Thoughts:
I drew more than I thought I would. I have to thank the Sherlock Holmes fandom for the inspiration. I'm also glad I finally got to use my graphic table more.
Looking back, did you draw more fanart than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
See above: more. I got into a new fandom (Sherlock Holmes), which was very inspiring. I only drew 1 Los Helmstedt comic, but that was to be expected, I haven't been very inspired since Wayne left.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you draw that you would never have predicted in January?
My main fandom was Sherlock Holmes, mostly in the canon/Granada version and the new BBC Sherlock, so I drew a lot of Holmes and Watson (and Sherlock and John). The two Doctor Who pictures were quite unexpected too.
What's your own favourite piece of fanart of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Maybe my first Holmes/Watson. I like the lineart and the colours and, you know, it was my very first H/W, and I'm sentimental like that. :) I'm also quite fond of "A kiss in the rain".
Do you have any fanart or prolific goals for the New Year?
I just want to keep drawing, get better at drawing lineart directly on my tablet and colour more.
From my past year of fanart, what was...
My best piece of fanart this year:
The above-mentioned Holmes/Watson piece.
My most popular piece of fanart of this year:
Judging from the comments I got, it's either "I deduce it's Christmas", "A detective and a gentleman" or "I see".
Fanart of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
I'm really fond of "Downward spiral", but hardly anyone commented on it. :(
Most fun piece of fanart to draw:
"I see" Strip poker FTW! XD
Piece of fanart with the single sexiest moment:
Probably this scene from "One Week" (fic by
janeturenne). I didn't draw anything porny, I'm afraid.
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" piece of fanart:
I can't think of anything that can be considered "wrong". If by wrong you mean silly, then maybe "Oh, you too?" because of the awful pun. XD
Hardest piece of fanart to draw:
"A friendly hug". I'm still not satisfied with Watson's head, it drove me crazy! D:
Biggest Surprise:
Realising I can actually draw on my tablet if I make an effort. :P
In conclusion:
I'm happy with the fanart I drew in 2010. It's far from perfect, but I had fun drawing and I can already see some improvement, I hope I'll keep up with it next year.
