The concert in Hamburg was awful. Really, the people who couldn't go shouldn't be sad about it, you didn't miss anything special. Even Farin said it: "War echt Scheiße, ihr habt nix verpasst."

...

WHO AM I TRYING TO FOOL, OF COURSE IT WAS AMAZING!!! XD But Farin asked us to say that to the poor people who couldn't be there ("Some people have, you know, a job"), and you know how DÄ fans are: we do whatever Farin tells us to. ;)

So, on to the usual random report:

17th June 2009, Hamburg

Other pictures here.

I flew to Berlin and took a train to Hamburg. At Berlin Haupfbahnhof a fan started chatting with me and was positively shocked when I told him I'm from Italy. He kept saying "Aus Italien? Krass!" XD We said goodbye at Hamburg station as I had to go to the hostel and he had to meet some friends.

I arrived at the venue around 2:45 PM, I thought I could still remember the way from the U-Bahn station to the Sporthalle (I was there last December to see FURT), but I got a bit lost. Of course there were already quite a few people there (there are rumours on the DÄOF forum that someone was there at midday THE DAY BEFORE WTF), but in the end I got a nice spot in the second row on the right side of the stage.

Right side means I was in front of Rod, right? WRONG! The concert started with a few seconds of "Himmelblau", which turned into "Westerland" and when the curtain fell... I was standing in front of Farin. Bela's drumset was on the left side (sooo far away) and Rod was in the middle. I have to say I'm glad I was on Farin's side, it always makes a lot of fun watching him. And Bela came over quite often to quarrel with him anyway, so it wasn't too bad. Also, they kept putting their arms around each other's shoulders and waist, they just can't keep their hands off each other. XD

So, they started with "Westerland" and then played "Zu spät". After that, they said that was it and went off stage. The lights went on and the security told everyone it was over, they even prepared the red and white striped ribbon they use when they clean off after gigs, but no one believed them. All right, I admit that for a second I thought "Don't you dare! Come back on stage, assholes, I came all the way from Milan to see you!" :P But of course it was just a joke.

When Farin and Rod swapped sides, Farin told Rod there were people waiting for him. :D The order in which they were standing was really unexpected, I bet they had a lot of fun looking at the expressions of people in the front rows.

Farin played a new aquamarine bass, a present from Bela. Zitat Farin: "Ein Geschenk. Von dem." And pointed at Bela. Aww. ♥

Before playing "Mach di Augen zu" Rod covered his eyes and blew kisses around, Farin said something like "Let's play 'Guess the song name from the mimic'" and covered his eyes as well. Bela did too, then he walked to Rod with his hands over his eyes and kissed him. EEH! >_<

Bela was wearing his pink suit and a tie with pigs printed on it. I have no words. Before playing "Der Graf" he sang a little song dedicated to the fanclub, I can only remember the verses began with "Hallo DÄOF, ich bin der Bela" and I can't get it out of my head! :P

When it was time to play "Perfekt" they started talking and talking and talking and at one point Farin just started playing and singing it, even if that's a song Bela sings, so Bela started shouting "AlterAlterAlterAlterAlter!" until Farin just had to stop because he couldn't hold down his laughter any more. Farin tried again a couple of times, singing "Ein Freund, ein guter Freund" in the middle of it, and always got interrupted, until the audience started shouting "Halt's Maul und spiel!" but that wasn't enough, so they just walked off stage and came back a couple of minutes later and finally played the song.

EDIT: Farin also pointed out that the lyrics were wrong and said they should be "Wo das Mädchen vor dem Boy kniet" *wink wink*, so Bela promptly changed the words of the first strophe and turned the song into an ode to blowjobs.

At one point Farin said he could play "Westerland" blindfolded, so someone threw a T-shirt on stage so he could use it, he picked it up and put it aside with such a disgusted expression I just burst out laughing. His roadie gave him a proper blindfold (how come they had it handy? Is there something we should know, you old pervs?) and Bela promptly took advance of that to walk over to Farin and make all kind of lewd gestures: first mimicking that Farin blows both he and Rod, then that Farin has a small dick and then pretending to rub his chest. Farin eventually felt Bela's presence and just threw the blindfold away.

Bela was already wearing his DÄOF jacket by that point, he had put it on earlier and done a little catwalk modeling for us. :D

Farin was playing his new plain black guitar, but had to switch back to his old one because the former was out of tune and Bela said "I already had to fly thousands of miles with you without a tuned guitar!" And Farin replied: "Well, a lot fo people fly without a tuned guitar." And Bela: "What about Moscow?" So Farin apologised for the crappy guitar sound in Moscow, but said it was all Bela's fault, because he had told him he wouldn't bring anything along and then when they met at the airport he had 10 suitcases. And during the soundcheck he teased Farin saying "Oh yeah, my drumkit has a kick-ass sound! And, Farin? Your guitar sucks." XD So Farin apologised to all the fans who had been there and said he would probably never hear the end of it.

He also asked if there were people who had never seen an Ärzte concert before and asked the people in the front to swap places with them. Then added "Hah, the front row doesn't want to!" And mimicked people grabbing the barricades and nailing themselves to them.

And that's it. Before the concert I met up with Almut and bought her ticket to Montreux, while afterwards I met Maike and Line (at the toilet, of all places). I went to the aftershow party at the Molotow Club with Maike, but I was so tired (I had to wake up at 5:15 that morning -__-) that the only thing I could do was drink a cider and just move my head in time with the music. In the time span we were there (I think we stayed for little more than an hour, but I had already lost my sense of time at that point) they played 3 Ärzte songs ("Lasse Redn", "Zu spät" and "Schrei nach Liebe") as well as Greenday, Wir sind Helden and other good songs I just can't remember anymore. I do remember a certain not-so-young lady, though, who was wearing a red miniskirt and a skimpy black top: Maike and I agreed that she had to be the woman behind the song "Roter Minirock".

After that we walked back to the hostel (we could have caught the bus, but I didn't felt like running to catch it, and it was only 3 KM away, the night was nice and it would be impossible to get lost, we just had to keep walking along the same street to get there. ;)

I said goodnight and goodbye to Maike, who was staying in another room, and went back to mine. There were two other girls from the fanclub getting ready to go to sleep, I was so tired that I just said "Hi", washed up and got into bed.

The next morning I woke up to the sound of the two above-mentioned girls packing up and leaving. It was around 8:00 AM and I couldn't get back to sleep, so I had a nice long shower (I had the room all for myself, as the other person who was staying there was gone as well), had breakfast and went back to St. Pauli for a bit of shopping. I bought a black and shocking pink chequered tie with Emily the Strange kitties printed on the squares, Halloween socks with separate toes and a pair of black and red skull earrings. After that I had a walk in Planten un Blomen and made my way to the station, managing to get lost once again. What can I say, I just love wandering around cities I don't know, you always find out a lot of interesting things. It can be a bit stressful if you have a train to catch, though. :P

Back in Berlin I had a couple of hours before I had to be at the airport, so I walked out of the Hauptbahnhof and saw a beach volley court and two female teams warming up for a match. Then I noticed a much bigger court and went there. It turned out they were playing the German Masters and I arrived just as the Italy vs Netherlands match was about to start! :D Unfortunately we lost, but the end of the second set was great, the Netherlands were winning 14-20, but the Italian team turned the tables and got to 21-20, only to lose 23-25. It was very fun to watch, though, and, really, seeing the Italian beach volley team play in front of Berlin Hauptbahnhof isn't something you see every day.

On the flight back there was a group of Italian students, they must have been around 18 years old and coming back from a school trip. While I was waiting I noticed some of them talked to each other in German, a strange enough fact, but more than that, their German was fluent and flawless. For a moment I thought "WTF? I attended the best language school in Milan and we weren't nearly as good at that age! And they talk in German among themselves as if it was their native language!" Then I remembered there's a German school in Milan. Because, really, there is no other possible explanation, both their Italian and their German were great, someone would speak in Italian and someone else answer in German and vice versa. I'm not planning on having children, but if I do, I'm definitely going to send my children to a bilingual school if that's the result.

OK, that's really it. I couldn't upload the video of when Die Ärzte walked off at the end (saying they're proud of having such a fanclub - aww, ihr Schleimer), I'll upload it as soon as I can.
