My problem is I am a perfectionist and I know my German will never be good enough for my standards. Not the best attitude to learn a language, I know. Maybe it's just because I never speak it, my English got much better after I went to England. I mean, it wasn't as good as it is now, but when I came back from England I was much more confident, just like I was more confident after my two-week holiday in Berlin two years ago. Perhaps if I manage to attend that course and do that internship in Berlin, things will change, I mean, I'd be forced to speak German all the time...

Yes, I always feel more confident after a couple of days :) It takes a while to get used to hearing a different language but soon afterwards you slip into it.

It is so difficult to learn another language here. It is not really encouraged at school, I know only two people who can actually speak another language other than English, there are no real "other language" sections in book shops (what they have is really just English books translated into another language, and I would rather read something written in its original format) so it's difficult to practise speaking it because there is no one to practise on.
