Last minute luck
Sep. 18th, 2007 11:28 pmNow it's really over. Bela's concert in Munich last Saturday was the very last one of the year and I started my internship today, so summer is officially over for me.
This was my second time in Munich and I have very mixed feelings about the city: on the one hand I've got happy memories because, both last year and this year, I was very lucky getting free tickets for Bela's gigs and found great places to stay, on the other hand there's the "last concert feeling", so all my memories are tinged with a bit of melancholy. But I won't complain, this year I stayed in a very nice hostel, it was the only one that still had free beds (I called the day before I left) and I'm so glad I found it. I even got a single bed instead of the bunk beds, because the room was still empty when I arrived and I could choose. One of the people I was sharing the room with was a nice medicine student from Hamburg (oh, the irony, going to a Bela concert and making friends with an Arzt aus Hamburg), his girlfriend arrived around 1 AM and he had nothing to do until then, so we went for a walk in the centre together, ate something in a tipycal Bavarian restaurant that only had Bretzel and no normal bread, stopped for a snack in a sushi bar and had the most delicious Gourmet Tour at Dallmayr. Shops were open until midnight that day, this one is a very expensive food shop that organised a sort of "all you can eat" for 35€, which isn't exactly cheap, but we shared the cost and ate like pigs. I swear I had the best chocolate cake in the universe. And wine, salmon, tea, ice cream... Yum.
The festival was full of ups and downs, luckily everything went well in the end, but we really had to suffer this time. Here's the photo gallery, unfortunately most of the pictures were quite blurry, I touched up the best ones with Photoshop to make them look at least decent:

And the festival report:
15th September, Energy in the Park, München

I had just finished having breakfast when Almut arrived at the hostel, she left her bag in my room and we went to the venue. We got there around 11:30 and found Wayne talking to the girls, he greeted us and seemed quite surprised to see me, he probably wasn't expecting me to be there since I hadn't gone to the show in Papenburg the week before. He even asked "Did you fly here especially for this?" No, I just happened to walk around and found myself in Munich. D'oh. We chatted a bit, he said he would probably be at the aftershow party, which took place in a club in the same street as our hostel, and then was off to soundcheck.
