MWHAHAHA, my mother may be a pain in the arse, but some of her comments are priceless.

Mum: "Why are you always dressed in black? People will think you're a fascist."
Me: "Yeah, right..." *fake Roman salute using left arm*
Mum: *dead serious* "I would kill you if you were."

Yes, we're quite passionate about politics in my family. ^_^ My uncle (one of my mum's brothers) was even expelled from the Catholic youth center when he was 5 or something because he sang a Communist song, "Bandiera Rossa". Which even Farin used to sing as a kid. XD Wait. That means he sang in Italian when he was a kid??? *dies from cuteness overload*

And a "d'oh!" moment from the other day:

Colleague: "Do you know that manga, Did not?"
Me: "Did not???"
Colleague: "Yes, Did not!"
Me: "Uhm... No?"
Colleague: "Or maybe 'Ded'? Yes, 'Ded' like 'morte'." (morte = death)
Me: "Dead? Oooh, you mean DEATH NOTE!"
Colleague: "Yes, DID NOT!"

*facepalm* Now I understand why native speakers never understand us Italians when we try to speak English...

Also, this is totally NOT true:

Meh.

Hahaha. I think I'm laughing at your entire post.

It reminds me of one of our Italian teachers trying to say "wax" and she said wocks (what's the Italian again? cera or something?) and it took us a while to figure out what she meant. And then the other one kept asking us about English pronunciation, but unluckily for him there were Americans and New Zealanders in the class, with different pronunciations....^^

Yes, wax is "cera". And I think I've always pronounced it like that too? Oops? XD

The problem is that most of the time we read a word before hearing it spoken aloud and we're just too lazy to check the phonetics. ^_^

Hey, that happens to me with English words too, so don't feel bad. We don't know how to pronounce them either!

I just stared at him trying to understand what the hell he was talking about and when I finally understood I almost laughed in his face. It reminded me of something a friend once told me, she was in England and asked someone where she could find a post office and the person just couldn't understand her. She was like "A post office! To buy stamps! Stamps!" And the person went "Oooh, a post office" in perfect Queen's English. Damn Brits. XD Still, I love their accent. ♥
