Found this story last night. And, for the second time in 2 days, I almost cried reading fanfiction. I must be getting old. First Kiss. Snape/Dementor. It's sick, it's angsty and it's beautiful. I probably like it so much because I can understand Snape perfectly. It brought back a lot of unwanted memories, and *that* wasn't funny. At all.

But anyway, I'm quite excited this morning, because I've just come back from Monza, where my father and uncle are working. They're painting this huge 2-storey flat, the owners are an American woman and her Norwegian husband, and they needed me to communicate, because the couple can't speak Italian and neither my dad nor my uncle can speak English. So I went and acted as interpreter. It was fun, I like talking in English and they were really nice. At one point the woman told my father (in a tentative Italian): "Your daughter is very intelligent". I bet my dad was puffing out his chest like a peacock at that hehe.

Isn't it fun to be able to be an interpreter, using a skill that you like to use that the others don't have? I traveled a lot over the past 4 years in Spanish-speaking countries, and as my husband doesn't speak Spanish (and frequently neither did the people we did things with) it gave me great pride to talk with the taxi drivers, the shopkeepers, the people on the street and so on.
