I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows last night. My reaction at the end of chapter 32:

D:

I was half expecting Snape to die, but I was still devastated when it happened, such a horrible death. At least the truth came out in the end, I've always known he was one of the good guys.

And I've known Snape had feeling towards Lily ever since the pensieve scene in "Snape's worst memory", I mean, Snape must have seen some ugly stuff being a Death Eater and a spy, but what's worse than being humiliated in front of the girl you love? "The Prince's Tale" was definitely my favourite part of the book, it was exactly like I imagined young Snape would be. I admit I was a Snarry fan when I first entered the HP fandom, then I moved to Snupin, but I've been a Snape/Lily fan since Order of the Phoenix came out (the book, not the film), because I could just see it happen. Angsty, one-sided love is my guilty pleasure.

And the fact he didn't want anyone to know about his feelings towards her, especially Harry, because he was sure people would pity or humiliate him again if they found out. And the doe Patronus.

From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe: she landed on the office floor, bounded across the office and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.

"After all this time?"

"Always," said Snape.

I almost cried. Poor, poor Severus. I hope I can write or draw something decent ou of this before going on holiday.

But what pissed me off was Lupin and Tonk's deaths. When Harry mentions they're dead I was like "Hang on, they DIED? WHEN???" All right, I admit I skipped a few words here and there while reading the battle scene to avoid falling asleep, but can someone please tell me when she killed them? Last thing I knew Lupin was duelling Dolohov and Tonks was running to him.

And I'm not talking about the epilogue. "I've had enough trouble for a lifetime" would've been such a good ending, why didn't she stop there? It's like she suddenly realised she was supposed to write a children book and went "Oh crap, I've killed half the good characters, some of whom without a decent reason (Fred, Lupin, Hedwig for God's sake, what did the poor owl ever do to her?), the kids will be traumatised, let's just write a happily ever after epilogue with lots of possibility for future books!" Bah.

But I admit this bit was funny:

"Our Teddy! Teddy Lupin! Snogging our Victoire! Our cousin! And I asked Teddy what he was doing -"

"You interrupted them?" said Ginny. "You are so like Ron -"

Tee-hee. And Molly shouting "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!" at Bellatrix rocked. There's nothing more dangerous than a pissed off overprotective mother, especially if your side has just killed one of her sons.

So, yeah, not such a bad book. Still, poor Snape though. D:

Yeah. When I read Lupin and Tonks were dead, I went "Huh?, when did that happen?" The last thing I read was that they were next to the body of Fred looking like they were sleeping. I thought they really WERE sleeping, tired from the battle.

omg. i cried soooo much when i read about Lupin's and Tonks' deaths, seriously, i LOVED Lupin, WHY did he have to die?

& i HATE the epilogue. before the book came out i heard rumors that the last sentence was gonna be "all was well" so when i got the book the first thing did was check the last page. what i saw nearly made me throw the book out of the window. gaaah such a crappy ending.

and the bit about Snape and Lily. i think i've never cried so hard in my life as when i read the "After all this time?" "Always," said Snape. part :(

I thought Lupin and Tonks' deaths were pointless. It's like she realised she didn't have much of a death count, and just threw them in for good measure. Why not Bill and Fleur? It's not like they had the worlds cutest baby like Lupin and Tonks did. So pointless and irritating.

But aside from that, I loved the book. Except for how it's all over. That makes me saddest of all.
