"Is that... a joker?" Farin asked pointing at the new tattoo on Bela's chest.
"Yes."
He shook his head. "Need someone to make you laugh when I'm not around?"
Bela shrugged and zipped up his shiny stage vest.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. Come on, it's late."
Farin grabbed his wrist and drew him close, shutting up his protests with a kiss. He felt Bela relax and pulled back.
"We'll talk about it later." It wasn't a question. He wanted to know what was wrong with Bela, even if he had to tie him down to make him talk. He smiled. Now, that was an idea...

Bela wakes up in the middle of the night sometimes. Not because of a nightmare or an unknown noise; he just wakes, without any apparent reason. He sighs, slightly annoyed, and turns over.
The bedroom is never completely dark and he can see Farin's face quite clearly, his bleach blond hair standing out sharply in the semi-darkness. It's like looking at a black and white photo.
He reaches out and runs his fingers lightly through the guitarist's hair -it's getting long again- careful not to wake him. He likes watching him sleep. Curled up on his side, eyes closed and utterly relaxed, Farin looks younger. And vulnerable. Bela moves closer.
Farin mumbles something and cracks one eye open.
"Sorry," Bela whispers. "Didn't mean to wake you."
"Mmh."
He doesn't protest when Bela drapes an arm over his waist and cuddles up against him. He presses his forehead against Farin's breastbone and closes his eyes, the regular rise and fall of his friend's chest lulling him back to sleep.
People say they're total opposites, like night and day, black and white, and wonder how they can even be friends. He smiles. He's never cared much about what other people say anyway.
