Politics, holidays and fanfic

Today's the 60th anniversary of the Italian Republic. 60 years ago the Italian people (and for the first time women could vote too) decided they wanted a republic instead of a monarchy and elected the politicians that would write our Constitution. The same Constitution that a certain Silvio Berlusconi called "Bolshevik". The same Silvio Berlusconi that says the left-wing coalition shouldn't be allowed to govern our country because, well, they're Communist! They're evil! They eat children! Someone should remind him that two of the parties of his coalition were neo-fascist parties. But it would be a waste of time anyway.
But let's talk about something more interesting! My Bela CD arrived on Wednesday! YAY! I'd like to know who the fuck invented that damn CD package though, it took me forever to open it. I'd read it was difficult to open, but man, it was ridiculous. It's very simple once you get rid of the inner plastic film, but I was afraid of breaking it at first (I'm always afraid of breaking things), so I tinkered around for a while, then I just used the Alexander the Great method. And it worked. :P
I also got the documents for my course in Berlin, I booked the apartment and bought the plane tickets. Now I only need to buy the concert tickets. Oh, Bela... And I found out the venue in Hamburg is in the red-light district. o_O
Aaand last but not least... A ficlet! It's a little present for
eryka_59, my way of saying thank you for sending me those videos. I wanted to write something both romantic and angsty, but my muse wasn't in the mood for angst, so it's just romance. I hope you'll like it anyway. :)
Title: Crescendo
Fandom: Die Ärzte
Characters: Farin/Rod
Rating: PG
Words: 450
Summary: Rodrigo looks completely different when he plays the piano.
Farin stops in the doorway and leans against the doorpost. Rodrigo is sitting at the piano, his back slightly hunched and his eyes closed. He looks completely different when he plays the piano. When they are on stage, he straps his bass over his shoulder and becomes The Rod, a hip-swinging, bass-licking stage animal. He never talks much during concerts, but he doesn't need words to set the audience on fire.
But here in the small studio room he doesn't need to wear his stage mask. His fingers slide over the keys as if he was caressing them, his expression changing along with the melody. Dolce. Crescendo. Maestoso. Farin can read his face as if it was sheet music.
Rodrigo hits a wrong note and stops. He slowly opens his eyes and stares down at his hands, his fingers hovering over the keys. Then, as if feeling watched, he turns to the door.
Farin steps away from the entrance. "Sorry, I didn't want to disturb you."
"You didn't. I didn't even know you were there."
"You looked quite involved," Farin sits down on the piano stool next to him. "Was that a new song you're working on?"
Rod shrugs. "No, just something that came into my mind, I'm not sure I can make something out of it."
"I liked it, it was very... evocative."
Rod shrugs again. Farin plays a few notes and then throws up his hands. "Piano is so not my instrument."
"Pity, you've got nice piano hands."
Farin raises an eyebrow at him. "I can do other interesting things with my hands."
Rod rolls his eyes. "You've got such a dirty mind."
Farin grins and leans in. "Yes, I do."
He places a hand on the back of Rod's neck and pulls him closer. The kiss feels like a physical version of the melody Rodrigo has just played. It starts slow and tender, then builds up into something fierce and deep, something that leaves them flushed and breathless when they part.
Farin runs his thumb along Rodrigo's jaw and slides his fingers down his neck. They're still looking into each other's eyes when Bela enters the room.
"Hey, you two lovebirds, wanna go eat something?"
"Sure," Farin replies and gets to his feet. "But we're not going to that place you chose last time, the food was awful." He walks to the door and turns to Rodrigo. "You coming too?"
"Yeah, I'll catch you up in a sec."
Rod stares down at the keyboard while Bela and Farin walk away, their voices trailing off into silence. When he can't hear them anymore, he shuts the lid and stands up. Only now he realises how hungry he is.
I'll post it at
deine_schuld with the Bela/Farin double drabble I wrote for
drabbles100 later. Off to fix some dinner now.

Date: 2006-06-02 07:09 pm (UTC)I used to play piano too, but I only studied it for one year, I was too damn lazy to practice regularly. But you're right, it's a wonderful instrument, you can create a whole musical universe with it.

Date: 2006-06-02 07:59 pm (UTC)Mensch, how beautiful is that fic?? I SO agree with Sabine, you should write more Farin/Rod stuff! (yes, I know your OTP's Bela/Farin, but Bela probably won't mind if you take Farin away for some pairing with Rod...will he? ;))
Farin runs his thumb along Rodrigo's jaw and slides his fingers down his neck. They're still looking into each other's eyes when Bela enters the room.
That was really wonderful!!! ♥♥ Even if the kiss sort of killed me shortly before. And damn Felse! What was he doing there, huh? *takes Bela away* The whole ficlet was brilliant, and I didn't even deserved such a beautiful one! *hugs you tight* Grazie cara! ♥♥♥

Date: 2006-06-03 01:37 pm (UTC)Bela was watching, of course.:PYAY, I'm glad you like it! I've wanted to write this ficlet for a long time, but never found the right words. When I was thinking of something to write for you, I decided to try again with this idea and it worked. So, thank you for giving me the right stimulus. ;)
And I'm happy you liked the kiss scene, I love kiss scenes, both writing and reading them. I'm a hopeless romantic... *shakes head*

Date: 2006-06-03 06:55 pm (UTC)Er, I haven't done anything to deserve any thanks, but you did, love! *hugs* So you had a Farin/Rod thingie in mind??? ;) Hey, I should write you something to thank you for that nice ficlet! =D
So am I, so am I *sighs* I'm afraid there's no cure for that ^^

Date: 2006-06-02 09:38 pm (UTC)You know... people really do look different when they're playing the piano. It seems like they're a lot more relaxed, like they're shining with some inner light, their fingers ghosting over the keyboard... it's very sensual. I like that :)
