Jan. 20th, 2006 03:19 pmArgh! Why do I always forget to check my friends' birthdays? >_<
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY
kasche!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
rosenblut!
I'm sorry, the last few days have been hectic and I've been awfully busy. I'm just so happy it's friday. *sigh*
I need some distraction from work, so here's a little thing I've seen on my flist.
Ten telltale signs you're reading one of my stories:
1) It's not a story, it's actually a drabble
2) If it's not a drabble, it's not very long anyway
3) There are way too many commas
4) The characters talk way too much
5) Even if the story is angsty, you'll find humorous bits here and there
6) There are broken sentences instead of long descriptions
7) One of the characters is pining for the other, who is totally oblivious
8) There's a kiss scene. Or a lick scene. Or both.
9) If there is a sex scene, the description of foreplay is much longer than the actual sex
10) One of the characters is helpless and pliant during sex (read: a total sub and loves it)
EDIT: And just for the hell of it:
A problem that persists with LJ-friends: we all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other.
I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about.
Then, if you like, post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Date: 2006-01-22 04:25 pm (UTC)- Philip Dick
- George Orwell
- Neil Gaiman
- Italo Calvino
Do you have any book/author you'd like to suggest me? For when I'm done with the collection of vampire stories I'm currently reading. :)

Date: 2006-01-22 09:34 pm (UTC)As you like Gaiman I guess you might like Terry Pratchett as well, I'd suggest "Thief of Time" for starters.
Also Doris Lessing is a very good writer, a very acute obeserver of human anture/society.
I have never heard of Italo Calvino, what does he write?

Date: 2006-01-23 08:08 pm (UTC)Thanks for the suggestions, I think I read something by Doris Lessing when I was in school, but I can't remember what. :P
Calvino's books are quite famous in Italy, but I don't know which ones were translated into other languages. One of my favourites is "Marcovaldo", a series of stories about a worker who cannot adapt to the life in the big city. His style is quite simple but at the same time very evocative, with sarcasm and social criticism.
You can find some info on him here: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italo_Calvino
