Kind of ironic, since he's always shouting "Communist!" at whoever doesn't agree with him.
I can't say Italy is a dictatorship, but it's not a "normal" democracy either. Every country has its problems and scandals, but the level we reached in Italy is, as you said, just plain ridiculous.
And do we need all those left-wing parties? At the local elections in my town last year there were 3 different Communist parties. Three! And then the Democratic Party, which is supposed to be left-moderate. Of course the right-wing parties won: there were only two (PDL and Lega Nord) and formed a pretty solid coalition. Berlusconi will always win, because people don't have a concrete alternative: it's either him or a bunch of tiny parties that just keep fighting among themselves and will never be able to form a somewhat stable government. :(
