gothikmaus: (Happy family)

Back in Italy (though not at home) after the best fucking New Year's Eve I've ever had. And not only that: remember I mentioned Bela had told me something after the gig in Munich last September? Something I couldn't reveal? He had told me DÄ were going to play a secret gig in Frankfurt on the 29th December and that I was the first one to know about it. That's why I left on the 29th and went to Frankfurt instead of directly to Cologne. Apparently no one knew anything about it though, I even wrote to Markus from the fanclub but he said "Nope, DÄ are definitely NOT playing in Frankfurt on the 29th." And then on the 28th (!!!) I get an email from the fanclub saying they'd be playing a secret gig in BERLIN the next day. Fans had to call a hotline from 7PM to get tickets and you could only get one each. I had a train to catch at 6:55PM, but I really wanted to go, so I just called with my cell phone and hoped it would work. And it did! I got through and got a ticket! Markus sounded a bit shocked when I told him I was calling from Italy and asked me "And you want to come over to Berlin tomorrow???"

So on the 29th I got up at 3AM, arrived at Frankfurt Hahn airport at 7:50AM, got to Frankfurt Haupbahnhof around 10AM and took the train to Berlin at 11:13AM. There I met Almut and guess what, we were in the front row, right in front of Rod! I really have to thank Almut for that, I'm always way too slow. :P

The concert took place in SO36 in Kreuzberg, which is quite small, and was fucking amazing. At one point I looked down at the floor to see if I could find one of Rod's picks and saw a banner with the Italian flag lying on the barricade right in front of me! I hadn't even noticed someone had put it there, I was so into the concert. And there was also one of Rod's picks lying on it by the way, a yellow one. :D It was so unexpected, I kept thinking "This can't be for me" but, well, how many other Italian fans were there that night? Here's a picture of it:

I'll post more pictures of the whole trip when I'm back home, now I can barely read my email from the office (and can't even reply) and the internet connection at the hotel is damn slow.

After the gig I chatted a bit with Wayne, I was wondering if he would show up and then I saw him talking to some girl. Typical. He was very surprised to see me when I went over to say hello. :P At one point he introduced Almut and me to some woman (who could speak Italian, by the way) and told her: "She's the one who did that drawing." And she went "Oh, you did it!" Man, did the whole world see that picture? I don't know if I should feel proud or intimidated. Or maybe just the biggest nerd on earth. He also told me my messages are damn cheeky. What, me cheeky? *looks innocent*

We didn't have a place to stay that night (I have friends in Berlin but, ironically, they were in Milan for New Year's) so we decided to head straight to Cologne. After a bit of an Odyssey and waiting till 5AM at the Burger King inside Hannover Hauptbahnhof, we finally reached our super elegant hotel and could get some rest before Nicole and Chris joined us. I'm just so sorry I couldn't get a ticket for them too. =/ Then I went with them at the Warm Up DÄ party featuring the Traceelords.

And finally the 31st. We got to the stadium around 10:30AM and sat down in front of the least crowded entrance, but we doubted we could get to the front row, there were already quite a few people in front of us. We got our 1. Welle passes for the Innerraum though, and decided we would try to get in front of Rod, the first one to get inside would keep a place for the others. When they finally opened the gates Almut was the first one to get in, then Nicole, then me (told you I'm slow.) I ran like there was no tomorrow, got into the Innerraum... and saw them sitting in the front row in front of Rod's mike! I was SO SO SO happy, I couldn't believe we had made it. Over 40000 people and we were in the front row. We even ended up in the newspaper (the Kölnische Rundschau) thanks to Nicole's banner. Bela walked down the stage and took it at one point, too bad that when he realised he had to go back to his drumset he just handed it over to one of the security guys who threw it somewhere and it got lost.

The concert was fucking brilliant, more than 3 hours long and Almut, Nicole and I all managed to get a drumstick. I don't know how I got mine, I was taking a picture and was holding with camera in my right hand and the next second I had a drumstick in my left one. I felt like a silly 13-year-old girl and didn't care at all. And they said there's gonna be a new album next autumn! YES! Bela said it and Farin went "Petze!" XD

There's a million other things I'd like to write, like, when Bela and Farin said they were going to Las Vegas to get married and Farin told Bela "Du bist die Frau!" XD And Bela actually gave him a quick peck on the lips! I was DYING. And the night after the concert both Nicole and I dreamed of Bela, how cool is that? I dreamed the guys were staying at our hotel and were hanging out in our room and I was complaining to Bela because he had told me the secret gig would take place in the wrong city, so I had to travel all over Germany to see it. :P But really, from Frankfurt to Berlin to Cologne in little more than 24 hours? I have to be fucking crazy.

I'll add more when I upload the pictures, I took so many of them, I bought a 1G memory just to be sure. And I was even lucid enough to make a little video at midnight, you can see the countdown right in the middle of "Zu spät" and the three of them hugging and making a toast. Farin with his tea, of course. :D

That was the fucking perfect way to end a fucking perfect year. And to begin a new one! :D
