Music! And pink hair!
Aug. 30th, 2006 02:08 pmGah, I'm so busy these days, always trying to solve 3 problems at the same time, I wanna go on holiday! >_< Just a few more days, just a few more days...
Anyway, the 5 songs meme,
schwimmerin gave me the letter G.
Reply and I'll give you a letter. You have to find five (or how ever many you want) songs that start with that letter and post them to your journal.
- "God save the queen", The Sex Pistols
Because it's The Sex Pistols! They turned the anger and frustration of the British suburbs into music and created a movement that changed the music scene forever. Yeah, I know they were just paws of a clever manager and ended up being swallowed by the system, but I like this song, especially these lines:
When there's no future how can there be sin
we're the flowers in the dustbin
we're the poison in your human machine
we're the future your future
- "Grinding halt", The Cure
An obscure song from their first album. For some odd reason the DJ of my favourite club played it quite often last year.
- "Good riddance", Greenday
Damn, I only have this song on tape. I remember I was fascinated by the video when it first came out, the song it very simple but I like it.
- "Girls on film", Duran Duran
Haha, Duran Duran. The video was quite an event, because it was sort of a soft-core porn video and some parts were censored. So, naturally, everyone was talking about it.
(Now that I think about it, I could mention "Gold" by Spandau Ballet too, since there was this duel between the two bands, but I won't. Oops, I just did. Haha.)
- "Great balls of fire", Jerry Lee Lewis
I was kind of obsessed with '50s music when I was about 13 and Jerry Lee Lewis was one of my idols. I saw the film about his life too and was completely blown away by his total craziness and how he was practically banned from the scenes because of his behaviour. Sad, really.
- "Get into the groove", Madonna
It's the '80s, baby! From the Desperately Seeking Susan soundtrack, I just love this song. Madonna is so trashy in the video/film, especially in the scene when she's in a public toilet and turns a hand dryer upside-dowm to dry her armpits. That's a classy lady!
Special bonus:
- "Gehn wie ein Ägypter", Die Ärzte (link to the video on Youtube.com)
Bela and Farin rub each other's noses Eskimo-style in the video! ♥♥♥ And they're sleeping together like two little brothers at the beginning, even if you can't see that scene in the Youtube video. Just like the scene where daddy Farin and mummy Bela check on them before going out. I mean, Bela dressed up as a woman? Priceless.
And let me mention 3 other songs. I didn't upload them because most of my LJ friends already have them anyway. ;)
- "Geisterhaus", Die Ärzte
One of my favourite tracks from Geräusch, both the music and the lyrics are brilliant.
- "Glücklich", Farin Urlaub
I like the video, especially the part about the boss's daughter. Teehee.
- "Gitarre Runter", Bela B.
One of my favourite tracks from Bingo, I like the music and the lyrics are nice and funny.
And pink hair!

Tonight we're having a dinner at Vica's to greet Ele and Ste who just got back from China. I sent them a SMS yesterday and they said their luggage got lost! ARGH! I hope mine will arrive safe and sound... o_O
OK, back to work now. Ugh.
