In the last year and a half I've become extremely fond of hurt/comfort fics. Nothing too extreme, I don't want characters to suffer too much, but there's just something about character A suffering (physically, or emotionally, or both) and character B lovingly taking care of them.

Another trope I really, really like is the friends-to-lovers trope, especially if combined with hopeless pining (double points for mutual pining!) Characters who have known each other for a long time, who are friends and trust each other, suddenly (or slowly) realising what they feel is more than friendship, but they are afraid of losing the other person if they make a move.

And then the great classic: angst with a happy ending, which can be applied to both of the aforementioned tropes.

I am perfectly aware of what these preferences say about me (me? Projecting my personal issues onto fictional characters?), but let's just not go there...

Challenge #12

In your own space, set yourself some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I don't have specific goals this year, I'd just like to keep writing and drawing, without pressure. Things at work tend to get busier and busier during the year, and fandom helps me deal with stress, so I don't want it to become a source of stress too. I'd like to finish a WIP that's been sitting in my WIPs folder for over a year, and I've already added a couple of scenes to it, so I already consider that a success.

I'd like to draw a little more than I did last year and experiment more with Clip Studio Paint. I could maybe try to sketch something whenever I can and then, when I have more time, try to play around with colours.

So, all in all, my goal is to enjoy fandom and keep being creative.

Friends to lovers is a favorite of mine, too.

They must say the same things about all of us then, 'cause H/C is a heckin' popular trope!

And these are quite reasonable themes for the year, so yes, please keep being creative and enjoying yourself.

Yeah, right now I’m into curtainfic and domestic fluff, and before that it was porn romances, and before that it was crack. Tastes change, and I don’t really look very deeply into it, for myself or others. People are complicated creatures!

Oh, I love h/c, too (especially if it's well-balanced) and I've grown way fonder of friends-to-lovers than I used to be (in large part thanks to CSI)

I think CSI must have influenced my favourite tropes too, because I noticed a change ever since I fell into this fandom. Not that I'm complaining. XD

Glad I'm not the only one. But I certainly was not complaining there either! ;)

I love all the tropes you mentioned and your version of H/C is what I prefer too. I can't handle too much violence/gore anyway so I just like a little suffering and then onto the caretaking.

Continuing to write/draw without pressure sounds like a smart plan. Good luck with the goals! :D
