Challenge #14

In your own space, create your own fandom challenge.

I thought I wouldn't take part in this challenge, as I can never come up with ideas, but then I suddenly got inspired. Thus, I hereby present you...

The "Be kind to yourself" challenge!

I've seen a few challenges asking people to leave feedback on fics and art and that's very important, my day instantly improves whenever I receive a comment on my fics and/or art, but I think we should also learn to appreciate ourselves. Just the other day, I was at work thinking I still had X, Y and Z to finish, but when I checked, I realised I had already done everything. And, without thinking, I told myself "Well done!" It can seem such a small, silly thing, but as someone who used to be extremely self-deprecating, I can guarantee even these tiny comments make a difference.

So I'm asking you to give yourself some positive feedback. It can be anything: giving yourself a metaphorical pat on the shoulder for meeting a deadline, or writing a post in which you brag about a project you're really proud of, or looking at something you're working on and you're frustrated with and saying "Okay, this isn't coming along as I had envisioned. It's time to take a break, maybe when I come back to it, it won't seem so bad."

My own positive feedback for myself is that I'm very happy with the pictures I drew for Lunar New Year. They're not perfect, but I had a lot of fun drawing them and can't wait to post them. Now it's your turn! :D

Things I am proud of today:

* I made the advance announcement for next week's Poetry Fishbowl.

* I sorted the newly arrived seeds into my seed storage box for packets. Which is full, and the bigger bags of grass seed don't even fit in there.

My goal list is always a work in progress. I already had to cross off one item because it became superfluous. But that's okay. My goal list is another thing I'm proud of, that makes me feel accomplished when I look at it. Plus this year I'm also running [community profile] goals_on_dw so that's helping other folks with their goals too. \o/ It's fun to see what other people are doing. And there are also lists of ideas for fun or self-care, because goals don't all have to be hard things.

This is such a good challenge. I really have a hard time if I don't have the spoons to participate in fandom, and need to remember that if I can't comment and read ALL THE THINGS then that's okay. I left kudos on one thing, and that's good too.

The feedback that I usually leave for myself is that the pictures that I draw are meant to be ephemeral, and therefore it is okay if they are imperfect. There are times where I have to tell myself this more than I might normally, but it is something that I try to tell myself regularly.
