And the winner is...

DELUDED BY LESBIANS WON THE FLANDRIKA FESTIVAL!!! :D They did it! They fucking did it! The Belgian winners were La Femme Belge (there was an Italian winner and a Belgian winner) and the two bands won €3000 each! How fucking great is that? Considering they've been playing together for less than 2 years, I'd say that's pretty impressive!

Their concert was definitely the most entertaining of the night, apart from the usual dressing up (angel wings and wigs at the beginning, swimming suits and goggles at the end), they invited the guys from a few of the Belgian bands to get onstage with them for the last song, it was totally crazy. They may not be technically perfect, but they do know how to put up a great show. They remind me of the early Ärzte in a way.

We're going to celebrate tomorrow night, then the bass player is going to LA for a couple of weeks. Man, I'm totally exhausted. After the concerts we had to drive them to their rehearsal room because the drummer had lost his car keys and they couldn't fit all their instruments into just one car. Luckily someone found the keys and gave them to one of the security guys, too bad the guy had already gone away. Whatever, it was totally worth it.

FUCK YEAH!!!

HAHA, I've just found out I'm hosting the celebratory dinner tomorrow, because no one else can. I'll spend the whole night scrubbing the flat clean, wednesday my parents are coming back from the seaside and I don't want them to find a battle camp. XD

Being the president of the DBL fanclub is though. XD

Well, as a president that should be your job. XD
Next time, they ask you to solve world poverty problem and starvation.

Gothikmaus: *flat is a waste dump, you with terrible hangover* "Mum? Could you clean and throw all that stuff away? I can't stand that smell. And I need an aspirin and ..."

Mum: *RAGE*

HAHA, no, sadly, the day after I'll have to go to work (wake up time: 6.30 - someone kill me) and then I'll have to go to the dentist in the evening. YE-HAA! :P

The band says they're going to cook something. In my mother's kitchen... I'd like to film them... XD

OPS typooos XD

Oh, no time for hangover? That's sad. No "Rotwein + Grappa = :)))" ?

The band says they're going to cook something. In my mother's kitchen... I'd like to film them... Men in the kitchen? Always worth filming. :D

No, no time for hangovers. But I do have both red wine and grappa. And rum. And brandy. And... :P

I just hope they're not so messy in a kitchen as they are on a stage...

Wow, that's fantastic news! They sound like they actually have a sense of humour, which is a lot more than I can say for most bands around these days XD Good for them!

[identity profile] gothikmaus.livejournal.com 2009-07-13 10:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, they do have a sense of humour. Unlike one of the other bands who went to the organisers after the show and said it was impossible they lost (they didn't even get the second place), because they played much better and had got much higher votes in the semifinal. They're a ska band and, technically, they were very good, but playing well is not enough. How can you be so presumptuous? I mean, wanting to know how many votes you got and what the audience liked or didn't like is OK , but saying "Hey, we're so much cooler than everyone else, we should be the winners" is just sad.

Pfft. As much as I love ska, it's not enough to just have a saxaphone in your band and to be able to play well for you to think you are automatically cool. Image makes up more selling points than most people realise, which is probably the reason I have no interest in about 90% of new music. Why does every female musician look exactly the same with their "girl next door" image and accoustic guitar draped over them?! And what the hell is with guys dressing like 60 year olds, wearing grey pullovers and stupid tweed jackets with leather patches on the elbows! Argh! Save me from this sad, beige world!

Well, they were pretty good and had a "nice image" as well, they're called something like "Pippo and his polar penguins" and were all wearing tuxedos, but they were just so conceited.

And I like ska too, but it's such a specific genre, you either love it or hate it. And, like a friend of mine said, it's mostly a dance-genre, so if you're just sitting down and listening to it, you grow bored after a while. Also, my friends didn't play a single cover, while this band (and a few others) did play a couple of cover versions during their 30-minute performance.
