New LJ layout! When I saw that Bela/Olsen pic yesterday I knew I had to make my new header pic out of it. ♥♥♥

The laptop decided it hated me today, when I came back from lunch break and was checking my email, the infamous blue screen came up. I followed the instructions and restarted the computer, but I only got this message: "Operating system not found." EEEEEK! I tried and tried, but it just wouldn't work, so I packed my things and hurried to the central office, which luckily is only 15 minutes away from here. Thank God this didn't happen while I was in Bergamo! So I went there and no one knew what to do, the only solution seemed to be a drastic one: formatting the hard disk. I didn't know how, since the computer didn't even recognize MS DOS, so I just put in the Windows XP installation CD, fumbled a bit with the boot parameters and it worked! I didn't even need to format anything, the installation program found some damages on the disk, repaired them, copied the missing files et voilà! We'll probably need to buy a new hard disk just to be sure, but for now everything's fine. I've never been happier to see the Windows logo in my life. :P

Even if I had to format the disk I wouln't have lost anything, I saved all my documents on my MP3 player just last night. Such a coincidence, uh? Like the fact that I had computer-related nightmares last week and last time it had happened I had huge computer problems the next day. Should I be worried about my wonderful foretelling powers? o_O

Now I have one hell of a headache though. Ow.

BTW, I never found how you change your layouts. I'm too stupid for html. ;)Do you need a paid lj account for that?

I think you can change your layout even without a paid account, but I don't know how much you can customize it. If you go to http://www.livejournal.com/customize/ and can see the "Advanced" tab, it means you can customize pretty much everything. To add a header pic I changed the code in the "Your layers" part, I copied/pasted the code I found on a community and just changed the pic URL. But it may be different depending on which base layout you're using, mine's "Flexible Squares". Oh, and S2 system btw, which lets you change colours/fonts/basic settings without having to use html codes. :)

I found out that I can't do much without a paid account. I managed to add a background picture though. But it doesn't look very nice, I wanted it as one picture, not several.:(

If you want the pic to show up just once, try adding this bit of code:

background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-attachment: fixed !important;

Yeah, that's why I always save my documents on CDs/DVDs as well, never trust computers too much. Did you get my email about the DÄ slash site btw?
