I've slowed down a bit in writing that Mystrade fic, but I drew something! It's just a quick sketch, but I wanted to post something for Valentine's Day, so here's some Mystrade sap.

Also posted on Tumblr.

I'll take care of it )

All right, this is going to be COMPLETELY incoherent, but here we go.

All right, all right, I definitely need to rewatch The Lying Detective WITH SUBTITLES because WHAT THE HELL, I missed about half of Sherlock's drug-fueled rambling. At the moment, though, I can't really say I liked the episode. I mean, I liked some parts (mainly the Mycroft-centric parts, what a surprise), but the episode as a whole... Not so much. It felt like Moffat was trying too hard, wanting to shock and impress at all costs.

Also, was it really necessary to bring up Irene Adler again? Does Sherlock really need an explicit love interest to be a more "complete character"?

And I laughed so much at Lady Smallwood making a pass at Mycroft. I mean, really? I hope there's a reason other than THE LULZ.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to The Final Problem, it looks like there's going to be A LOT of Mycroft in it.

LO AND BEHOLD, I WROTE SOMETHING! \o/ I wanted this to be a 221B drabble, but I'm quite pleased with it as it is, so I'm not going to add anything else. It's just a double drabble and I'm sure the idea inspired tons of other fics, but hey, it's something, right?

Title: A touch of red
Fandom: Sherlock (BBC)
Pairing: Mycroft/Lestrade
Rating: PG
Summary: Greg likes Mycroft's suit. A lot.

So, I had quite an eventful New Year's Eve and I'm still trying to process what's happened.

But I'm not going to write about that. Today is Sherlock Day! I'll need to watch The Six Thatchers again (with subtitles), but here are my favourite bits right now.

There will be SPOILERS, obviously.

Aww yiss, I love days off in the middle of the week.

I wanted to write this yesterday, but I received a last-minute invite to dinner + '80s night, so I didn't have time: the other night I dreamt Die Ärzte were playing in my hometown. The venue was tiny, I was standing in the front row and it was GLORIOUS. I think my subconsciuos is trying to tell me something. XD

And while we're talking about fandoms, I realised the following about 2016:

- new Sherlock
- new Star Trek
- new Harry Potter (sort of)
- Cure concert

- a potential trip to Berlin (not confirmed yet)
- a potential trip overseas (business+pleasure, not confirmed yet)

I'm gonna die! XD

First reactions to the Sherlock special:
  • MOLLY! OMG I loved Molly!
  • I loved the back-and-forth between 19th and 21st century.
  • Big Brother Mycroft!
  • Mycroft and Lestrade had more time together in those 5 minutes than in the whole 3 series! XD Also, I loved that Mycroft did absolutely nothing at the graveyard apart from holding the torch. Which, now that I think about it, is a terrible Mystrade pun, as he was admiring Lestrade at work, I'm sure. XD

Man, I need to rewatch this!

So many pictures and quotes and general fandom squee from Sherlocked. I'm sure if I'd gone, I would have spent a small fortune on pictures. Not on photo shoots with the actors (I always look awful in photos), I mean I would buy ALL THE PROMO PICS. Especially these. Predictable? Who, me?

In other news, I survived the first week at work! \o/ I may add more in a locked post, but for the moment I'll just say I'm happy. Oh, and we had ice cream after a meeting on Friday. Yep, it's good to be back. :P

Well, the new year started off in a productive way: here's my first Mystrade fic, which, incidentally, is also my first 221b drabble. Cheers!

Title: Back to black
Fandom: Sherlock (BBC)
Pairing: Mycroft/Lestrade
Rating: PG
Summary: Mycroft doesn't like the latest change in Lestrade's looks.

Finally! It's done! It's here! The Lestrade/Molly fic I started back in May (!) is finally finished. A big thank you to [ profile] schwimmerin for reading it and giving me her opinion.

Title: A reasonable solution
Fandom: Sherlock (BBC)
Pairing: Lestrade/Molly
Rating: PG
Summary: Lestrade crossed his arms. "Let me get this straight: you're saying we should get it on so we could be more useful to you."
Sherlock grimaced. "It does sound rather crude if you put it that way."

At last

Finally! The Lestrade/Molly fic I've been working on for months is done! I still need to edit the last part and re-read the whole thing to make sure it makes sense, but most of the work should be done. I can't believe it took me so long to write little more than 4000 words, I'm such a slow writer. Oh, well, at least I was able to finish it.
gothikmaus: (*pout*)
I saw the Italian version of "The sign of three" out of curiosity today and it was just as bad as I was expecting. Hysterically so. XD I watched the Italian version of "A study in pink" some time ago and "The blind banker" a few months ago and I wasn't impressed, so this shouldn't have come as a surprise, but maybe it's because I rewatched TSoT recently and it's still fresh in my mind, so I could spot all the translation mistakes. Hearing different voices when you're used to the original ones is confusing enough, but when they translate things differently with no apparent reason it's even worse. I know you have to change things to keep the dialogue and images in synch, which is difficult when Sherlock talks a mile a minute, but some of the translations made no sense at all. Oh, well, I gave it a chance.

Talking about languages, I posted an audio meme over at Tumblr, it's a slighly different version of a meme I posted on LJ a few years ago, in case anyone's interested and wants to know what I sound like. Hint: I sound weird.

So much of fandom action has moved to Tumblr, I rarely post fandom-related stuff on LJ/DW any more. Which is a pity, as Tumblr doesn't really have a comment feature that allows discussions without having to reblog everything over and over. Or maybe I'm just used to how LJ works and I'm too lazy to change my ways.

Anyway, now that things are a bit more stable in RL, I felt like writing, so I started working on that Lestrade/Molly fic that's been in the back of my head ever since I saw TSoT. Which is strange: I've been reading nothing but Mystrade for 2 months, I thought I'd be inspired to write that pairing. But apparently I'm terrified of Mycroft. XD Or rather, I'm afraid I'd get his voice completely wrong and screw up everything. Molly and Lestrade, on the other hand, are more ordinary and approachable. And who knows, maybe later I'll feel confident enough to try my hand at some Mystrade. For now, though, I have little more than 500 words of Sherlock being his usual self and Lestrade being frustrated and trying not to strangle him. I have no idea how long it's going to be or how long it'll take me to finish it, I'm just happy I'm writing again.

So, that comic strip. It sounded funnier in my head, I swear. Also, someone must have had the same idea before, I mean, come on...

I told you it would be silly )

I spent the whole afternoon yesterday working on a comic strip. It really shouldn't have taken so long, but I'm terribly rusty. It took me a while to figure out what style to use, then this happened:

I drew on paper and coloured the pictures in Photoshop. The only problem is I don't have a decent scanner at home, so I had to touch up the lineart of every single drawing, which means it took me twice as long. Oh, well, hopefully I'll be able to post the finished strip either tonight or tomorrow.

And yes, it's going to be silly.

How can it be the 31st of January? Where did the time go?

This month passed in a flurry of SherlockSherlockSherlock, it had been a while since I had been so into fandom. This last week I've been up until late every night reading Mycroft/Lestrade fics. Oops. But I found a few long, nicely written stories and I'm very much enjoying them.

Plus I may have kind of sort of developed a ridiculous crush on Mark Gatiss. Damn.
gothikmaus: (Sherlock/John snow)
I finally found a title for this ficlet. A bit obvious, I know, but I couldn't think of anything else. And I finally started using AO3. I only posted my two Sherlock fics so far, I'll slowly add the rest. Here's my profile page.

Title: The spectre at the feast
Fandom: Sherlock (BBC)
Pairing: Sherlock/John (pre-slash)
Rating: PG
Spoilers: up to "The Sign of Three"
Summary: There should always be a spectre at the feast.

Also posted at AO3.

It would have been so easy, Sherlock thought as everyone started dancing around him. )
